Hey everybody, how's it going Today we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install this 7-Way RV upgrade kit here on a 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe. So this is what our 7-Way is gonna look like installed. It's gonna come with a nice mounting bracket here. You will however, need to find a way to mount this on your vehicle. And if you have the factory trailer hitch you're gonna have a bracket here 4-Way bracket already on there. We'll just simply bend that down and then we can use one of the no-drill brackets we offer here at etrailer.
So as this is a 7-Way upgrade kit we will need to have an existing 4-Way in order to make everything work. Now, this vehicle does have the option to come with the factory 4-Way. So if that's what you have great you won't need anything else but if you don't have an existing 4-Way you will need to purchase one of these. We have plenty of plug and play options here at etrailer. You can pick up with the upgrade kit.
So there are a couple of nice things about this kit that really set it apart from some of the others on the market. So this is something we've designed specifically for our customers here because we know what they need. So not only do we get these 7-Way, the larger 7-Way for our trailers with brakes or an onboard battery we're also still gonna get the 4-Way so we can tell both types of trailers without needing any additional adapters that plug into the 7-Way. We're gonna have both options right here in front of us. So just sort of a general overview if you're not familiar with seven or 4-Way trailer connectors.
So the reason we might wanna 7-Way chances are if the trailer has brakes you're definitely gonna need a 7-Way. Some of the other circuits on the 7-Way include a battery charge line that'll charge any onboard battery you have. And there's also gonna be the same standard functions with a 4-Way being that we have the running light circuit and the stop and turn signals. There's also on the 7-Way gonna be your reverse light circuit but I will say the vast majority of applications won't use this but it is there if you need it. So this kit here that we've compiled for you guys it's gonna be all inclusive.
Therefore, it's gonna have literally everything you need except for tools. I'm talking about all the extra wire, wiring connectors, circuit breakers. Literally everything we need for this installation. So you're not gonna have to worry about getting halfway through it and running back into town to pick up some connectors you may have missed. We're gonna have everything we need to do the install in front of us the first time. So we have two different kits that are very similar to this one the ETBC7L that we have here and the ETBC7. So if you're wondering which one is right for you it's all gonna come down to what brake controller you're using. So with a lot of with these newer vehicles here one's you may not be towing with every day the best option is really a wireless brake controller because they don't require any modifications or splicing into the vehicle. If that's what you have or that's what you wanna use you're definitely gonna want to go with the ETBC7L. Now, if you're towing much more frequently and you want a physical brake controller in the cab with you or traditional wired brake controller that's when you do have to do some splicing in the vehicle and our other kit the ETBC7 is gonna be a little bit of a better option for that. So in regards to installation if you're going the wireless brake controller route and we're using the ETBC7L here I do recommend you guys doing this one at home by yourselves. It's definitely something you guys can do. We don't really need a lot of mechanical knowledge nor do we need a lot of specialized tools. We're really just plugging in a few things, grounding a wire and then running a power wire but that's pretty much it so I encourage you guys to try this one. Along with our help we'll show you how to do that now. So the first thing we need to do we need to find a place to mount the 7-Way. So these first couple steps here can vary depending on your specific application. Our particular vehicle here has a factory trailer hitch and the factory trailer hitch has a welded on four pole trailer connector onto the actual hitch. So if this is what you have, we're gonna show you a couple of steps, how
