I have to admit I was a bit dissapointed. I think my biggest issue was the pace and too many POVs (9 !!!). I think Bhumika (my favorite character), Pria, Malini, Ashok and Rao's POVs would have been enogh. I hope I'll love the second volume more.
I have the gorgeous Illumicrate edition, but I haven't been able to get to it yet (to read). I have GOT to pick it up soon - everyone is singing its praises!! I also have the Unbroken and Winter's Orbit from Illumicrate - LOL! They've really been killing it with amazing books this year! (I do not get paid by them or anything - just thought it was interesting that three books in a row you mentioned were all IC books from this year, and I tend to "squirrel" a lot). And, once again, because I swear I'm going to get at least one of the Booktuber's I always watch to read it - The Ashes of the Sun by Django Wexler - please read it. I need other people to gush over it with me!
Ashes of the Sun is on my list to buy the next time I'm able to buy books (aka when I have new shelves). Orbit have been doing GREAT lately (also not being paid by them though I did discover I am a friend of a friend of one of the editors which was nifty). I am VERY tempted to get back into illumicrate in the future but I am trying to have less bookish stuff and more books haha!
That's fair enough! I know rhythm and pace can be a big factor in enjoyment of a book and this is certainly slower at points. My recommendation if you did want to pick it up again is to (if you can) try a different format, switching up from ebook to physical or audio (or variations thereof) is usually how I get through some of the slower things on my list :) But also if it's not for you then it's not for you!
I read this one, but it didn’t work for me (though of course that doesn’t mean it’s not good for others!). I guess I wanted more of the romance plot, which very much takes a back seat to the political worldbuilding. Also, I did find the pacing to be quite slow. Essentially, yes to all of the things that you mention in the video, but for me, not a huge win overall. Appreciate the video, though!

I just finished the book a few days ago I absolutely loved it 💯🥰
It's so good!
I can't wait to pick this up at some point, all the reviews are so positive! :D
yes! it's got a lot to please different people I think!
This was a great review! But this book reallllyy didn’t work for me. I almost dnfed it but I wanted to see if it would get any better.
it is definitely one that works for some and not others :)
I agree with all the things. The unbroken is different but also similar, I completely agree!
I must go and consume your review now I can be sure I did not plagiarise it :p

I do feel like the marketing leaned too much on the romance and made it seem like it would be more prominent!
I am from India can I also get this book from you for free
