She's a beautiful Mikado. Sure wish NS would paint her in the Green and Gold Southern Passenger scheme again though, she looked better wearing it than in her normal paint scheme.
Southern 2-8-2 Mikado 4501 was build in October 1911 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in Eddystone, Pennsylvania. She was the 1st of 182 Mikados. The engine is performed flawlessly on The Norfolk Southern Steam Program excursions all the way until 1994. The 4501 continues all the way until 1998 after The Norfolk Southern Steam Program ended in 1994. In 2011, The "21st Century Steam" was launched by the Norfolk Southern. In 2014, 4501 returns to Steam once again. 4501 operates today with 2-8-0 630. 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃
*I rode on this train a few times when I was a Kid in the 70's. SMH!! Too bad they restored it and disgraced it by painting it Freight-Duty Black. It will always be remembered as GREEN in color and sadly forgotten in Black.*
This is an exciting video of Southern (2-8-2) #4501
2:24 Southern 4501 Original 3 Chime and 3:48 SOU 4501’s Central of Georgia 6 Chime
Am I the only who's just hearing things? Somehow the whistle sound at 2:25 and it reminds a sound from Morris County Central 1385 used to have.
Unfortunately, audio around this time was scarce so familiar sounds are audible.

Legends says that 4501 is still on an adventure to find out who asked 🤓🤓

What kind of whistle is 4501 wearing in the beginning of the film?
Central of Georgia 6 chime.
At 3:45 is that the Central of Georgia 6 Chime 630 wore as well?
