I think 「やってみ(hiragana)て」is better.
Hiragana「みる」is auxiliary verb, which adds meaning of 'try ～ing'.
So he says "Please try smoking this so that you recover" "Please try smoking this because it heals you"
(「んで」is casual「ので」)
