This is a fantastic argument to use on a variety of subjects (not just LGTBQ issues) if you ever find yourself debating Christian fundamentalists. The Bible references several times that you shouldn't have idols before God and it's commonly taught in Christian circles (I know because I was raised in Christian circles) that idol doesn't just mean another god or religion but can mean anything you hold dearer to yourself besides God. This commonly means things like food, drugs, your work, your studies etc. but it's super jarring for so many of them when you refer to things like Donald Trump, Conservative ideology, famous Christian leaders etc. as idols in the Christian sense.
