1994. Rare developers listen to Aquatic Ambience for the first time.

- A video about Donkey Kong Country and its normal music.
Edit: I feel that I should point out that this obviously isn't actual footage from the past. It's a sketch. Look at the computers. Look at the headphones. If you showed that kind of tech to someone from 1994 their head would burst. They simply wouldn't be able to cope.
A song about a monke riding a swordfish and fighting other fishes really hits deep
As deep as the ocean, amiright?
XD
Just a reminder. It took David Wise 5 whole weeks to port aquatic ambience onto the dkc cartridge. He had to meticulously record every sound wave and program them into each of the 8 sound channels to fit it on the SNES's 64kb soundchip. He only did this to get specific soundwaves to play on the SNES. He said it was sort of a gift to the devs and to show the world just how technically advanced dkc was for the time. First time I heard the song, it caught me off guard because of how clean and mesmerizing it sounded on the SNES.
I hate to be that annoying ass dude that corrects words but "every sound wave" makes no sense, a better wording would be "every song stem"
@@actavist444 true
@@YashBeanz David Wise used text editor called Brief.
@@actavist444 i hate to be that annoying ass dude that corrects words but "every song stem" makes no sense, a better wording would be "every sample"
@@urielc918 no that wouldn't be a better wording, that actually is just incorrect lmfao.

Stop stealing comments lame boy BE ORIGINAL
@@Iknowyoumadnow he wrote it on "quotation" marks. Do you not understand?
@@hoitem6500 WRONG 🤣 I understand fully that you don't understand.
@@hoitem6500 "The original comment also had quotation marks."
Then, it is possible that that "original" comment, wasn't the original then.
@@roguescorner9042 that was 8 months ago. I understood where I went wrong 5 minutes after making that reply. I forgot to delete it, so that's what I'll do now.
We all feel it. This song hits your soul.
Still my favorite piece of video game music to exist.
Seriously to this day DK music is on my emotional support playlist
You lied to me
@@Waddlejpg I never said it was a UA-cam playlist
Emotional daaaamage
Your father is disgusted by you.
I also love how the framerate is dropping, fits really well.
Even the camera can't handle the uncomparable beauty
I thought my Internet was messing up at first.
I feel bad you can’t hear the words that aren’t words. You don’t hear the words.
SNES CPU and GPU maxing out outputting content with high FLOPs
Song: 🐟🐒🌊
UA-camr: 😭
Aquatic Ambience, Bramble Blast and Forest Interlude just hit different, David Wise is a genius and one of the best videogame composers ever.
Especially aquatic ambince it's a very powerful instrumental 👏 my favorite game theme song ever
I really like In A Snowbound land as well. David Wise creates the atmosphere
Toxic Tower in DKC 2 is powerful as well
Stickerbrush Symphony
Hot-Head Bop, Mining Melancholy, and Snowbound Land are equally impressive and mesmerizing to me.
Video game music is so underrated. Both this and the Ocarina of Time soundtrack are true masterpieces of music
The Tak and the power of juju is mad underrated
These are top tier. But to find the hidden gems is even more something... look at the Tim Follins' work.
Zzzzzzelda
It depends...
Can we talk about the entirety of the Plok! OST though?
David Wise is and always will be a musical genius in my book.
The first time I listened to it was when I was eight years old on my SNES. As an adult I’m still listening to it from time to time, it’s a masterpiece.
It's such a beautiful song. I couldn't believe my ears as a child when I heard it the first time. I remember pausing the level just to hear it
Same. I’d pause and just lay there. Listening on a loop Lol
Same. I remember laying on my bottom bunk listening to this for hours. The wind coming through the window with shimmering summer sun against my walls. Love that memory.

This song reminds me of my best friend who passed away last year. We'd always play DK Country on his SNES and I'm glad I'm not the only one who had an emotional reaction to this song
Sorry to hear that 😞 this song helps alot 🙏
❤
I was emotional the entire time and then the comment at the end made me BURST with laughter 😂 Amazing video man
Lol you mean these narcissistic content creators purposely acting in crocodile tears for cheap online attention ?
The song plays in Coral Capers, Clam City, Croctopus Chase, and Poison Pond
Only 4 stages? I thought it would be more.
@@bio-jay77 It should be!
@Fen Vulpeus understandable
Underrated Video. If you just put on the track with headphones and focus, it’s hard not to get emotional if you love music. Great post 👍 1:11 on is how I feel about this track and all great music. I’m right there with him the whole video.
I have said for a long time that this remains the GOAT of all video game level soundtrack music.
Stickerbush Symphony, Forest Interlude?
@@grayzee2976they're very close
I absolutely agree with every emotion you’ve expressed, we all feel that ❤️❤️❤️
To this day this is one of the best tracks in Donkey Kong history. I remember the first time I heard it and I was amazed.
It just goes to show how strong this track is when you just automatically start to feel emotional and begin to cry. It's so beautiful
Not Donkey Kong history...
Video game history.
Its the perfect background music to missing a time from the past for me.
There are few songs that make me feel as nostalgic as this one does.
My guy was never ready for this one.
It hit him so hard all his childhood memories came flooding back once the song started.
Is he legitimately crying? Damn.
You get me drunk enough, I'll start crying to Swordfish Monkey music too. No but seriously the song is that good.
It hits that hard bro
That's the power of the K O N G
This was the 90's.
They didn't realize at the time that they were setting a standard for not only what videogame music can sound like, but should sound like.
Imagine, if you will, that you have never heard music before and this comes across your ears. Imagine the emotions that puts you through.
If you haven't cried being moved by music and how it's speaks to you. And I'm not talking about lyrics then you havent lived
This is honestly beautiful how even the developers can even get emotional over this song
Its a sketch
Who's gonna tell him?
@@packie8930 wdym? I definitely had an Apple IMac in the 90’s
I thought I was alone as a kid when I would play this level over just to hear this relaxing music. I’ve always loved it. Awesome to see a powerful reaction like this
Oh man DKC was such a great game and the music was 0n point. This song though i have never seen a level and song go so good together
Also I’m a big prog rock fan and always felt like this could have been a yes or early genesis song maybe even a Pink Floyd song . This song is so peaceful to me.
This song is freaking beautiful, I don’t blame you for crying
Are you guys aware that David Wise is making a series on how to make his soundtracks in the Korg UK channel? It is really amazing!
OH MY
@donkey Kong country master The Korg Channel on UA-cam is available in all countries. He made a series of 5 songs including this, Stickerbush Simphony and others.
Video game music is timeless. I love Aquatic Ambience from Donkey Kong Country. It’s awesome🥲🤍👊🏾
My father and my uncle bought me this game for Christmas 95, they are now currently gone forever. I feel your pain brother 😭
i love how hes like "I cant wait to go home", then its just total elation immediately after
If I could describe nostalgia in a physical sense to someone, this is what it would look like. This is how nostalgia feels. It's such an unbelievable feeling. It's not the first time this guy has heard this. He around the same age as me and I know he's played this game before lol
This song just hits you in the feels of being young and staying up playing on your snes either by yourself, or with friends or family.
This song always immediately brings me back to my childhood. Great memories playing this with my friend Danny.
Let's be honest here. This not the only good track in the game. The whole soundtrack is phenomenal, but this is certainly among the best ones, i agree
It's the best in the game and is one of my all time favourite pieces of music.
I used to enter this world and just listen to the music and not even play
I know well this feeling, it's awesome.
Man, it’s a song that gives you chills *every time*
It’s nostalgic, it’s really perfection. I heard this song for the first time late 2022 and ended up re arranging using the ocarina of time soundfont with great results.
I love this song and it looks like you did too
I knew I wasn’t alone when I felt the same way he did when I heard this many years later ... when things and times were good 😌
I feel what this guys feeling.. just a huge nostalgia trip.. from the early 2000’s
I've always loved this song.
Last sunday I went to a videogame music symphonic concert, they played this theme and I was crying even when I've listened to this song since I was a child.
Takes me back. My grandparents old house. If i could go back somehow...
What a time it was.
1:13 at this moment his mind explodes
It’s a masterpiece ain’t it? Beautifully recorded and sound❤️
I remember specifically just going to the water stage to jam this song back in the mid 90s
"Damn.. just can't wait to go home" 😂😂😂
For some songs. You don't just listen. You feel the song. Those are the best songs. Wonderful video.
I was in love with this song for many years but I listened to it so much in so many covers that it isn't as emotional for me as it was. But I kind of feel you, guys. I really love David Wise's compositions and look forward to the new Salamandos album. This love will follow me through my life even after I get a major love of my life - a girl. I'm 19 years old just for you to know how eternal this music is and goes on conveying the ambiance through generations
This hit some old things deep in the heart
Hilarious videos and so true! Idk the video freezes a lot but audio doesnt. Great emotional song and love the documnetary on it
Yeah I can only imagine what they felt hearing this for the first time. Their eyes must have gone wide.
Like…imagine being like “ this is going in our game…”
I've never thought about it, It might have been something like this. Or, they were like: David, it's just a game about kongs, we're not making an epic movie, but we're gonna use it anyway, so you wont have to redo.
Esse cara teve a mesma reação que eu teria ouvindo pela primeira vez. Somos iguais, cara
l know how u feel. When l hear it l cry so hard. it brings me back of my childhood. l miss those 80s days. This music hits hard
Music can be very emotional for me as well. It's that feeling that Disney tried to show in Soul. My daughter loves to watch it because she loves music, and she loves when I get lost in my music whether just listening or playing it myself. I love seeing other people get emotional to music, makes me feel more connected to others.
He looking like he never heard anything more beautiful in his life, and TBH i feel this way ever time i listen to Aquatic Ambience!
Glad this Aquatic Ambience is getting so much hype right now by others who’ve never played the original DKC series.
Seriously it's so good
Holy shit this dude gonna make me choke up
*WHO ELSE LEFT THE SNES RUNNING 4 DA MUSIC* 😢
The only snes soundtrack that make me tears was probably the main theme of terranigma and also ff6 opening, DKC is just an amazing and wonderfull trip i add the pleasure to play on my teenage day, this music are cool and smooth but not sad, for me.
Early FF franchise delivered such excellence in story and audio experience, #6 was no exception. I think secret of Mana & Chrono trigger also delivered
This can't be real
Gotta be honest..northern hemisphere hits home as well..just in a more serious way
My memory from when I was a kid is very bad. When I was an adult and suddenly remember that I used to like DKC games and their music I went back to them on an emulator, casually. When I first heard these songs I felt like this guy (despite being fake), stopped to listen to every single one of them at the same time that all came back, the nostalgia, the feeling of experience something similar that drove me back to older and better days. It was magic.
Every now and them I put these songs to listen, it calms the soul
This isn't from 1994
Crying through out the whole song
Best game theme song ever
I had no idea this song came from a game😮
One thing about water levels. The music.
It’s enough to make a grown man cry.
Yeah, from the video game about a mokey turning back stealed bananas from an obese crocodile.
It’s so beautiful it takes your spirit to many unrealized places at once. I used to fall asleep with it on as a teenager. Ride across the river by dire straits was competition
Stickerbrush symphony It makes me cry uncontrollably
Busca la versión sinfónica e intenta soportar 30 segundos sin llorar...
That's beautiful certain pieces do that to me. Videogame and non video game ofc
I know why he's crying 😢 this makes you remember old times when we were a Kids
It's weird how this hits me despite having no sentimental attachment besides paying the game. It's inspiring and retrospective all in one, and it seems to bring back every good and bad memory that I've ever had. Who is the wizard who composed this?
This song gives me absolute chills!! In a good way! I love it!!!
bro is holding back tears
My exact response to seeing Dave Wise play this at magfest 2020 🥲
It really did not have to go that hard
this song represents alot
I didnt know how groundbreaking this shit was back in kindergarten but i definely noticed how bad the music was on other games in comparison. The nostalgia fucking hurts my soul tbh.
i feel you man i feel you
I thought I was the only one but this song makes me want to tear up too. Don't know what it is
That's how history is made
I think those guys should have a musician carrer too. Its just fantastic for those days video games music it was really next level gameplay music
he knows this is for a video game right? XD love that ending
😆 great man! One of the best react that I saw
My reaction every time I hear it. Now, try playing the level like that.
hahahaha bravo david, unmatched
Bloody good video
Just makes you think about everything.
Thats what i call an eargasm!
Hey, it's Peter Botting, who actually exists!
É algo além desse mundo, essa música corta qualquer barreira com o tempo
seeing this comment made me remember than music transcends language :)
Hahahahaa omg it's not just me. This is gold
Exactly my thought
Acid has entered the chat
I feel you my man. When I played this game, I was 10 years old. I am now 38 and this song is still on my work playlist, together with a whole bunch of other DK songs . If feelings had sound, this song would be a perfect example. David Wise is a fucking legend!
35 and this to the bone, the entire DKC2 soundtrack is on mine.
@@jordanyoung2125 that’s what I’m talking about my man!
37, listen to DKC almost daily, and the game was one of my inspirations to want to get into the game industry. Oh, and you what was one of the first things I purchased after getting my first job? The "DK Jamz" original DKC1 soundtrack ❤️
It’s summer of 95’ - Im about to be 12 and I’m hitting some DKC over at the neighbor kids house until I get my copy the next month
Probably the greatest videogame song of all time.
