They literally could’ve just used Halo MCC’s exact level system, with some OPTIONAL “pay to progress” or “pay to buy EXP boosters”.
But except they chose to shoot themselves in the foot with a CE magnum several times.
Some of the bloodied rounds went back into the magazine after the "play a game for 50 xp" battle pass fix, so let's see what else they screw up on

Just don't buy the cosmetics, play it for the game. Who the fuck cares what your spartan looks like, it's not a barbie doll. I fyou want to customise your barbie dolls, then buy it. The base game cost you nothing.

Yes, they could. They could make purchases completely optional and still make billions back. Warframe does it, and that game RELEASED free with no PAID CAMPAIGN seperate to it.

Believe me, this isn't a hot take. A majority of the community are shitting on the BP/ cosmetic system.
Not that it matters because it doesn't affect the actual game at all. The Halo community sucks; the game has _actual_ issues that negatively affect gameplay that are being completely ignored and not brought to the attention of 343 because all anyone cares about are irrelevant cosmetic elements that you barely ever even see and that don't affect the game in any way whatsoever.
@@alondite215 I agree but I think the community is more focused on the fact that if the BP system issues aren't addressed then 343 will take it much further down the line like every other gaming company to the point where it will hinder the gameplay with pay to win tactics.
@@kdxracer184 Pay-to-win will never fly in Halo, because it's essentially the antithesis of PtW down to the very core of its game design. I don't even know how they would implement it without fundamentally breaking the game.
@@alondite215 Never put it past corporations of any kind to not resort to greed. I would normally agree but C.o.D tactics are becoming popular amongst developers. I will agree tho that things like player collision especially on enemies and playlists are probably 2 of the biggest issues that need fixed.
@@kdxracer184 Corporations don't do anything that people don't support with their purchasing decisions. Blame players, not corporations; if people weren't paying and these monetization strategies weren't profitable, they wouldn't use them.
I completely agree. The progression and playlists are such a stain on what is a really fun game. Hopefully they change this

The progression system is valid because that's likely not going to change a huge amount, since it's a core way the game is going to be profitable. The playlist bitching though I find pretty dumb and fairly easily dismissed, that will be pretty easy to address and likely won't be an issue very long.
Btw also we get a new gamemode literally tommorow. And again. This is a beta

@@jerryherrera8149 I don’t think that’s true, the second XP started being addressed as an issue, they sent out a fix for it and said they were removing certain specific challenges. They’re definitely listening to our complaints, and acting on things that can be acted on now. Where making a new monetary system is concerned, they probably need more time to address that… THEY SHOULD SAY SOMETHING THO AT LEAST

I take that as confirmation that 343 be like “oh shit… people don’t like this, we really need to shift our priorities so we don’t lose our momentum.”

id say about 90% of the community has a problem with the progression and customization. The gameplay is the best I've seen since halo 3 and I've been playing since CE. I've been waiting for a halo game with this play style for over 10 years

Progression is the only issue. And we need a slayer playlist. But it’s still beta so….. everyone chill. We ain’t even supposed to be playing yet lol.
The only major issue I have with it's gameplay is no player collision.

Really good stuff. Funnily I remember making videos like this when H5 released. Wether intentional or not, it feels like the content criticisms of H5 weren’t listened to or considered for Infinite.
Given that 343 had 6 years of criticism for H5’s launch, I’m surprised to see them repeat the same content mistakes

H5 mp slaps, halo infinite ranked games play like H5 minus a couple movements.
@@PooPooPawChew theres a map i forgot what its called but if u play aggressive enough and just push one side to another you cand just fly around the map like its halo 5 i hated halo five mosly the story but wasn't a fan of the movement but i like that there's a way to play to make it feel like halo 5 tho with the trusters being on both sides of the map and if you just fight back and fort and make sure to grab the thrust you will never run out for the whole game and this was in ranked was fun to feel like i was in halo 5 even tho i hate it the thrust in infinite is a welcomed thingy and i really hate it in halo 5 lol so im even surprised with how okay i am with it

Also the battle pass is cancer it actively reduced my desire to play the game.
There's no new content on "launch", this is the game, it's a beta in name only
@@paegun I'm aware of that for the multiplayer but I could have sworn Campaign was going to release on December 8th. I personally would never judge a Halo game on its multiplayer alone this isn't Call of Duty.

They put out this "beta" to see how far they can push their customer base. Then walk it back making them look like they listened when it was all intentional.

This is just the beginning and seeing how receptive 343 is to (gameplay) criticism it gives me hope for the future. The fact that you can't choose what game mode to play though is puzzling. I'd like to belive the obnoxious pricing was intentional in a way to test the limits of how much people will spend, they will see no one is buying anything from the store and most likely bump the prices down to where they would've been in the first place. I hope they can apologize and make up for this, that would be a big move. The second I saw this game was going to be free I knew exactly where this was headed.
Thats why they are calling this a Beta, despite you can earn stuff starting now at the actual launch date, so they get feedback to see how much people are willing to spend on this so they gather that data then slowly start lowering the prices, which they will have to do in order to keep the trust in us somehow.

I don't mind it, but I do have a problem with not being able to have a big ass.
It's pretty much still there, just not labled as such. idk made me feel nice.

Because armor is unisex. Go check out the military, when the female soliders are decked out with combat gear and bulletproof vests, the only difference you'll see is maybe height and slight bulk, but other than that they will look the same as their male counterparts.

I *REALLY* hate the playlists though. Especially when they give you objective or map based challenges, but you you have to basically play and hope you get CTF or whatever you need for it. I've always preferred objective game modes to slayer, so not being able to separate them in the playlists is unbelievably frustrating. Especially in ranked.
I like the gameplay. It's a big step above 4 and 5 to me. Battle pass needs fixed, and playlists need tweaked. Also, been playing Halo for 20 years and I'm pretty damn good at Halo 2 & 3 and it just feels like *everybody* is sweating their balls off in this game. I really don't know if it's because it's F2P or the lack of playlists but damn people need to chill in quick play.
The sad thing is 5 months later it is still missing all these things
I love Halo so much, and Infinite’s gameplay is pretty much exactly what I’ve been wanting for like 12 years, but yeah I agree this progression system paired with the predatory micro transactions is absolute dog shit and massively disappointing. Really hope they change it fast for my sanity’s sake and for the game’s longevity’s sake.
I grew up on Halo and it's a tradition to play Halo 3 whenever I get with my brother. But Halo infinite just kind of feels soulless. If that makes sense to anybody it just feels like a modern game with a Halo skin on it, the vehicles are nice to play with but the lack of co-op, forge and theater mode just feel fucking baffling
Was disappointed that most of the Free Battlepass just gives you XP boosts... to unlock more XP boosts, wtf?

Really good video here mate. It's insane how much content this game is lacking compared to MCC, both in terms of gamemodes, maps, and customization.
Honestly at this point I don't even care if the terrible progression system isn't fixed soon enough. I just want dedicated single gamemode playlists back. Being forced to play Oddball for 3 matches in a row is NOT my idea of a fun time.
I think “fine” is alright nowadays because we took too much of our favourite versions of a franchise for granted and the ceiling it too high for anyone to hit above Halo 3’s innovations.
3... didn't innovate, tho. For the franchise? A few stuff, especially Forge, but everything else was from 2 and other stuff from other franchises

Also, Halo 3 didn’t innovate shit… but rather, it improved upon its predecessor, like a sequel, and it was great

Bro I’ve been considering making my first ever UA-cam video explaining how angry and disappointed I am with everything bar the gameplay like you’ve said. You’ve nailed how I feel. It’s pathetic isn’t it. This progression system makes Bill Gates grinning face even more annoying than it already was! And I know he has nothing to do with it, but it’s annoying me that badly! People just aren’t playing to win, there’s no incentive to win, it’s vile. Especially today on the last day of the weekly challenges, literally no one cares they’re all just tryin to finish the weeklies just to get a visor that’s slightly different from the one we already have. I’m just like “Everyone hurry up and buy enough stuff from them so they can calm down one the raping us for money front and get onto the saving the player base front by making the game what it should have been in the first place!” The Samurai event starts tomorrow but man the customization options are so limited even though it looks cool. It just sucks.
As to be a devil’s advocate, my theory for the lack of modes is due to 343 being careful with the gameplay. The gameplay is easily the best part of infinite and if they were to half ass infection they would receive far more outcry. The reason they wouldn’t just copy halo 3’s formula for these other modes is due to new items and weapons. The grapple could be unbalanced in other game modes and they have to be extremely careful with how they progress the gameplay. We can all see that the current gameplay is quite nice and refined so my best assumption is that they are attempting to due the same as bungie but don’t have the same expierence as bungie did. I don’t mean experience like game dev but more like in how to perfect the halo formula. The progression system is still terrible along with the shop, and while people do keep saying the game is a triumph, I don’t think many want to look on the bad side. I think all of us want to have a great halo and the thought of it not being great is quite difficult to bear.

6:53 I just want to point something out here: maybe it's just a glitch or something I don't know about but I haven't gotten any season points for the past 5 levels, which meant I had to sweat my ass off in SWAT to get a few more season points (the only challenges I had left were infamous and montage starter kit)
I totally understand what you are saying, hopefully improvements will be made and addressed. I do believe some cosmetic items are found in lockers within the single player campaign, but yes, MP is a grind unless you focus on the weekly and daily challenges.

I do hope they can rectify the progression system here. Maybe with something like 1 credit earned for every 10 or 50 xp and additional repeated challenges on top of "play a game for 50 xp", such as:
Steaktakuler 50
Win a team game 50
Score top 25% of team game 50
Score top 25% of FFA 50
Score 1st in an FFA 50
Score 1st in a team game 50
Something this simple could make the grind a lot less painful and encourages you to actually play well for the objective and as a team.
And with limitations to coatings maybe a mastery that allows you to make a custom coating with certain paints of choice that are slowly unlocked. Or even across multiple armour cores, which we know can be done.
The most simplest way to put it - The thing with common sense, it ain't that common. I guess the drawback is 343 Industries lacking consistency, and begs the question if they are slow or stupid. The Master Chief Collection on launch was terrible but they fixed it later down the line, so would the same apply here again?
As a long time Halo fan, I never saw Bungie struggle for such small problems that collectively make a larger deal breaker. This video is right on saying that 343 part taking in shady tactics, but personally, I want Halo to succeed but 343 needs to be persistently on track to buy back the old fans of the franchise.
Tbh I dont think this might be something that's directly under 343's control and I have a speculation that the shitty and downright predatory battle pass/microtransaction system they're using is a decision made by the upper management of microsoft. It's very clear that 343 has put a lot of soul into halo infinite and they knocked it out of the park with the MCC's battle pass progression system so for them to do a complete 180 and go back to this kind of idiocy just seems a little weird, y'know?
Nonetheless, this is just a speculation of mine and I really hope people keep criticizing them for this since that way at least someone will have to hear our complaints about this, be it the upper management or 343 themselves.

I remember reading a guys comment where both teams had the flag and his teammate walked back to the enemy and “gave it back to them” hahah I thought…..then the same thing happens and we lost because of him…

Happened to me too. I carried the flag to our base but had to wait for our flag to return, then a teammate took it an ran back to the enemy base with it 🙃
One more thing, i've seen that in ranked you can choose crossplay, mouse, or controller. Why can't they do this on the normal mode as well? Especially that right now the mouse and keyboard combo seems to be much more powerful than the controller.

@@robertanselmi5469 since infinite, i know that in prevous galo games the controller was better, but they toned down the aim assist a lot. i tried both option, the mouse felt much better even tho i am a controller player.

Thanks for pointing out about the playlist things! I Thought it was just me. I like BTB slayer. I downloaded it day one haven't gone back and I won't until I don't have to play objective modes!
I agree with this in a lot of ways. At the moment I have just about 15 hours in the game and have purchased an esports skin and the battlepass and have been disappointed by both. When I try to bring up the problems of shitty gamemodes and how the MCC is doing everything here better I get told "Well it came out three weeks early" when if thats the reason to defend it maybe it shouldn't have even come out then. This feels like an open beta and I really hope new stuff gets added to the game because yeah I agree, this is not that great. Honestly I wouldn't encourage anyone to buy the battlepass or an esports skin, just buy halo 3. You get a multiplayer, single player, forge, and several battlepasses with insane character customization for the game price as some walmart ass Halo infinite battle pass. The gameplay is pretty good though

I pretty much agree with all your points however I'm optimistic that they'd iron out at least the progression and customization with the next week patch they said they'd do, at the cost of sounding heartbreakingly naïve.
You know I saw the title and was like WTF this is just gonna be someone who is salty about losing CTF and Stockpile. But no, these are very good points. I don't like playing BTB cause it's luck if you even get a chance to complete your challenges which are basically the ONLY way for you to get XP. I'm hoping that when it officially launches we'll get more chances at XP besides challenges and more armor like the Commando and Security shoulders

It's my first ever Halo game, so I was quite taken aback by the gameplay and the maps, it's like the stuff I used to watch but could never play cus I never had a console or pc that could support these kinda games till like 3 years ago. But I did find the lack of specific game mode options a bit disappointing, and the battle pass I didn't mind (that's up to any non F2P players), but if I was a buyer then yes, I'd be pissed about it. Glad to see someone painting a broader picture regarding the issues with the game. I really want to see it take off and succeed in terms of the player base's desired expectations. Not another unfinished mess.
Luckily 343 are very receptive to feedback so let’s keep on suggesting improvements to them

Yeah I basically agree with everything you said. I think you didn’t emphasize how shit the game is to play for a casual player as there aren’t many casual modes like Team Action Sack, Invasion, Infection, etc.
I agree with him but I also feel like 343 didn’t want to do this monetization stuff because they’ve already lowered the price a couple dollars for some of the credits which one was a step we need more from them I understand I need to make money But they need to also have a sense of progression if you want to get something without paying for it

Well im going to at least wait until December 8th to see if they add at least more playlists. No need to sit around angry. Who knows, maybe they'll take the feedback and fix some stuff when the campaign drops.
The problem is there is no incentive for winning or losing a game not even a little bit more xp for the pass. So people will literally just play slayer in any game mode, you could sit afk in a game just to get the 50xp for playing 1 match. They should at least give you 1xp for every kill and 50xp for winning a game.
Some of the things you said were a bit hyperbolic, but I overall agree with your main contention about the playlists and progression.
It took me almost 23 hours just to complete all the weekly challenges (after the reset). That is probably my biggestco concern because I just can't keep playing that much in a week. Was lucky enough to have a completely blank schedule this week so that's the only reason I went for it, but it was a tedious grind 🙃

Unfortunately we are in the minority now since halo is now catered for little kids with its T rating and getting their moms credit card to buy the battle pass or stuff in the store for them. I miss the old days as well when earning stuff and customization was free and you felt rewarded when playing the game

Unfortunate, I feel the title draws too much away from the nuanced feelings you have for the game in its current state while the problems themselves are relatively small.

I was so excited to play SWAT and could not believe that wasn’t an option. So disappointing. I legit went back to halo 5 to play a couple games because I was so sick of getting capture the flag on infinite

Literally everyone is calling it out. This isnt a unique take.
See I'm the opposite, I love objective game modes! I think they give some depth to the game and make it more interesting, but what I hate is we are being lumped with the people who want to play Slayer and I think that's where my problem comes in, no one plays the objective so I end up not having as much fun because I'm stuck in a never ending death match, hell I had a game tie on me, I have never had a game tie on me in any other halo. They really need to give us a game selection system.
I also don't like how Sensitivity Settings for controller are managed. Even setting everitging to "low", even increasing the Deadzone to the limit and lowering the Aim Accelleration, my aiming still feels too fast. The lowest sensitivity on Infinite feels like a medium one on Reach/5/3. But nobody seems to talk about it, maybe I'm the one who's tripping.
i’m tier 33 after playing a week straight no tier purchases, and i completed all my challenges today and it literally cut off my 50xp per game challenge now i get absolutely nothing for top fragging. I don’t get what went thru their heads

I can play around 2 hours during a normal weekday and maybe 3 to 4 hours during weekends. I have like 15 hours of gameplay and I'm only level 3. Do you know how much time it would take me to unlock the complete Battle pass? I could be playing for many months to unlock the content of 1 battlepass lmao

Props to you for uploading this. This issue is more obvious than many want to admit it is. Also things like the audio/animations for the Banished, e.t.c. are actually just re-used assets. I'm not sure what people expected from praising a game company lol.
I believe the intention behind the mixed game-modes is to test everything as much as possible with the largest group possible. I'm sure it'll be split up closer to launch.
Ranked shouldn’t be in the beta.
Man videos like yours need to be heard by the developers, everything you said is right, the worst part of this is that they didn't even needed to go with that XP progression system just to make players buy their armors because they would have done that anyway, look at Warzone, apex or even fortnite they give nice skins to their players on the battle pass and there's still people who throws money at the game for one cat model skin or some shit like that without hesitation.
They really messed things up here and it is sad because as a fan from halo I really wanted them to take the spotlight right from the start but I don't think they will achieve that like this.
Someone brought up the lack of gamemodes and how they wanted to play Fiesta and Sketch said more modes were coming with the Fractures event which is tomorrow so lets we get some swat and infection along with that
For the Halo Infinite crash, be sure to uncheck and check back the HD texture DLC on Steam. My friend had the same problem, and it was because the DLC wasn't downloaded, but still activated
Personal opinion here: I don't mind the challenges only ranking you up, however I don't think there should be a cap to weekly challenges. If they change it I will definitely not complain though!

Just wanted to mention that something sounds weird with your mic. Idk if its base or gain, but it feels kinda loud even when I turn down my volume. Love the video btw, you're on point with everything I've been feeling with Halo as of late! Keep up the good work :)

Now with tenrai the fracture event out I'd like to add the event limits you only giving 7 challenges. One challenge is one level. The fractures come back over time so they only let you progress so much. Thing is while all the good stuff is later on in the pass they instantly filled the shope with cosmetics to the event armor core. Further limiting your "free" customization. Also with new leaks turns out the mark V core from the first season battle pass will have a bunch of cosmetics in the shop including reach classics like emils knife security shoulder. But also BASE security shoulder. Carters commando shoulders. A bunch of chest pieces I can't be bothered to name from how many.along with classic helmets like gungnir or whatever it's called. To say halo infinite has predatory microtransactions is by far an understatement
I would enjoy it a lot more if not for the janky controls. I have tried adjusting everything to improve the controls, but I still find my aim drifting way too far from the target, especially at a distance. This issue was not present in previous titles, except for Halo 5 late in its life cycle. I’d prefer if acceleration could be turned off so I can just aim look I would in MCC, but as it stands, it becomes unplayable at times especially against bunny hoppers and people using keyboards.
I don't think gaming will ever go back to the old days where you get the complete game Day 1. These kids now don't care because it's how they've been raised with gaming and they were either not alive or too young to remember games before 2013 like with Halo Reach.
It's sad, but I've accepted it. Gaming is dying for myself, at least new games.
Bro. I agree with you but disagree at the same time. You’re acting like a boomer that thinks big title AAA games are GAMING as a whole. Indie game (and or) titles that are made by smaller companies DO EXACTLY WHAT YOU’RE asking for but yet you fail to mention them. Remnant from the Ashes is an amazing example of a goated game, complete and very fun, engaging storyline, co-op etc. But for some reason, AAA titles are becoming the household name for gaming as a whole
@@ThePilleroflightning Well not many people play Indie games. They're cool and have their place, but really AAA games are the mainstream and casual people tend to play them the most, so that's why I say gaming has been going downhill for a while.
I love the base game and it gives me hope for the future of the game, but I hate that all of the past game modes we had are just not here. Sometimes I just wanna sit back and play swat since that was my favorite mode in reach but I can’t do that cause we can’t choose a game mode and it’s not even in the game. And hearing that this is what we have for the day 1 release just disappoints me. Really makes you wonder what would’ve happen a year ago would we have only gotten slayer?

Great video! I hope they really grow a pair and fix the game they know what they did wrong they think we are stupid new kids wont realise the red flags us OG players do we have been tricked into waiting a whole extra year. Like you said this was supposed to be the return of Halo they thought from excitement no one would notice good stuff my guy keep it up only the OGs can save the game lets hope they listen to the community.

It's so weird too, because you figure with MCC they had already tested out how they wanted their battle pass to work, bar the paying for it, but it is at least permanent, and not put on a timer, but that's the nicest thing I can say about it.
I also don't get why some armor coatings are being locked to certain armor cores? It's a color scheme, that's it.
Guess we'll see how it goes at launch.

5:56 I honestly wish they changed 50 xp daily to 150 or 200 xp per match + with credits rewards like reach currency credits for completing matches, or reduced the 1k down to 500 to pass a level for the battle pass, idk if anyone else had the same idea or have a different idea in mind
The progression stuff I can let slide. Sure as a long time halo fan it grinds my gears to see nostalgia armor from reach being locked behind money but it's cosmetics I can deal with it. Lack of content and no real good playlists is what kills me as they were on such a roll with mcc and even the end of halo 5's life span so wtf happened
ive honestly gave up on most new fps multiplayer games at this point lol
