    I made the bus journey on the basis of your review, and Giant Ibis on this route was excellent: punctual, efficient (especially at the border,) spacious and comfortable. The 3-seat across layout makes all the difference.

    After first using Giant Ibis in 2019 it has become my go-to company for getting from Bangkok to Siem Reap. Over the years I've use them many times and have never been let down. Super easy to work with and the buses are really comfortable with plenty of leg room for a tall westerner.

    We have visited Cambodia a couple of times and stayed at Jaya House back in 2017 when it had just opened. I wonder if Christian is still GM, he is an inspirational leader and they were very focused on the sustainability issues then. It’s so good to hear they are maintaining their standards. Enjoy the land of smiles and the amazing Cambodian people!

    We travel with tiny Sawyer Mini-filters and use local tap water to fill our own water bottles. This has DRASTICALLY reduced our plastic consumption in SE Asia. We also take lightweight bowls and spoons and often ask street food vendors to fill them directly instead of using the styrofoam clamshells, plastic bags, and plastic utensils. Nice bus! My first visit through that crossing in 2008 involved sitting in the backseat of a decrepit sedan and since the (very dusty) road wasn't finished yet, going off-road and fording most of the streams at breakneck speed. Things change very fast in those parts.

    • @JordanandEmily
      @JordanandEmily  3 місяці тому

      This is amazing, I've screenshotted this comme t and will be looking into the mini-filters! Do you ever feel sick from the tap water or the filter works super well? Thank you so much!!

    Great video! We're planning to take this route in the next month or two. Two quick questions about the visa process: It looks like you just used the regular visa on entry (i.e. you didn't apply for an e-visa ahead of time) right? Also, did you need to provide any passport style photos to get the visa? There is mixed info online about if a photo needs to be submitted to receive a visa. Thanks!!

    • @JordanandEmily
      @JordanandEmily  4 дні тому +1

      Hey! nice, you won't be disappointed!
      As Australians we didn't need to apply for anything in advance and just got the Visa on arrival - we did have the little photographs with us for the visa too. I know there are some nationalities that do need to get the visa ahead of time, best to check Sherpa travel! they know everything and haven't let us down yet!

      If you're in Phnom Penh in the next week and fancy a good night out, Oscar's On The Corner has live music every night. Great place :-) Also, 'My Way' bar near Wat Langka is worth dropping into, and for great food at great prices, the Family Pub on Street 174 is run by a fabulous Khmer family who offer a warm welcome to all foreigners (and locals!) coming through town.
      Also, Giant Ibis - yep, absolute legends on the transport front, from Thailand, through Cambodia and into Vietnam, they're far and away the best company out there. I'm working with them right now on a project and they're just exceptional. Really glad you found them!
      Have a great time on your travels! Best wishes from ever-sunny Phnom Penh x

Having a bus ticket to Phnom Penh will work fine, if they ask they just need onward travel! It might be different depending on country of origin but we go through a way to check the rules on that travel guide video! Check it out!

    I'm going to be crossing into Siam Reap within the same route in a month and a half and after doing some research do you guys know if I need to register with the Foreigners Present in Cambodia System? or is that just if I'm wanting to extend my time in Cambodia? I'm planning on getting an E-Visa before hand and then what else will I be required to show at the border?

    • @JordanandEmily
      @JordanandEmily  3 місяці тому +1

      As Australians we didn't need to do anything except shown up! Ibis bus handled the rest but it depends on your passport. We always check with Sherpa travel to make sure, it's a website thay tells you what's required to cross a border!

      The best part about going point to point on Giant Ibis is that you don't have to worry about the expense and distance of getting to the airport, the new one in Siem Reap is an hour east outside of town.
      I also checked airfares for the day after Christmas plus adding at least another $35-50 for transport to BKK and from SAI into town.
