Rustival is on the 9th March 2024 at the British Motor Museum. I'm going.
Hilda is on the ramp, in pieces. Hilda is supposed to be going, but who knows what will happen?!

Would love to see Hilda there, but equally any of your cars would be great to see in her place. Don't overwhelm yourself if you can't get it done in time.

Thanks for the heads up. Just a thought, if you are going to put the thermostat back in the engine, run that line to the radiator and just T off to the heater matrix with the on-off valve. The other end of the heater matrix can be T'd on the line coming back to the engine. It would be simple and less troublesome. Whatever you decide, Hilda is a sweet little ride. Love the merch.
To be honest I would guess most people at Rustival would want to see/meet you rather than see Hilda, so don't bust a gut getting it done. Some people may need informing/reminding about the SM though, so wear your T-shirt just in case! 😉

Love to see any video on Hilda. Look forward to seeing more. I saw a Corolla rally car that was using a Holley Blue fuel pump on the gearbox to feed a gearbox oil cooler. I will post some photos later today.
If push comes to shove, you could always put a car trailer behind the C6 and drag Hilda to Rustival.
I'm missing a key component in that plan.

I would have loved to go to Rustival, but a round trip would take me the best part of 10 hours. I forsee a need for a meet that is further north.
I'm just happy there's an event not too far away from me for once. Most of them seem to be up north!

Gearbox oil cooler needed I reckon.. I bet the actual volume of oil in the imp gerabox must be pretty small.... can't be well ventilated stuck at the back especially with the front spolier deflecting air from underneath.
I think you should take the C6 up the motorway to Rustival, after all you've done to it get some use out of it, use the time on the ramp to do what Hilda needs in a sensible timeframe...
The race cars don't use one, though. And some of those use standard boxes.

I'd be happy with whatever you take. I love Imps & have never had the chance to the experience the presence of a C6. I know my friend is VERY keen on your partner's Saxo (massive Saxo fanatic who used to make cardboard saxo VTRs out of boxes when he was a kid) & I'll be representing the 306 clan with Patsy Peugeot

I don't mind what car you come in, but would love to see Hilda and grab a chat if I can. Started my prep for Rustival today on the bodywork, need to put a few more miles on the Escort over the next week before heading down! As it will be its longest journey since 1997....

About your problem with always having to rush your work: at university we had the saying: i have a problem with motivation until i get a problem with time 😀
Attempted to put an Up/Down sticker on my Bongo last week (internal one) but when I tried to separate it from the backing strip....or fronting strip it went to pieces (had been in the glove compartment for a while so maybe got too warm). I will order up some external ones as my display doesn't look UA-cam complete!

Me Dad's mate took us to see Jason & The Argonauts (original version) In one of these. Was only a two mile trip but made an impression! The back window flips open like a bus! Were they made in Scotland, From Girders?

In my opinion, opinion you didn't ask, don't rush it.
Why rush it as you will only take it part t a later date. Your in a place to do it as and when your ready without deadlines or rushing it. Good luck with it anyway not seen an Imp on the road in a long time.

With all the time you spend on your cars, do you spend any time with your wife? I love your videos, especially your humor.
I do, but not enough. I'm at work a lot, and work is also my hobby, so there are no boundaries. It's not healthy, really, but at the same time it means I can keep her Saxo going and we can enjoy car events and holidays in an SM in the future!
@UPnDOWN Sounds great. The same thing happened (to my BX19GTI gearbox) on December 2nd. And living in Foxton, New Zealand, 37 years since the car was built caused a bit of a problem sourcing a replacement gearbox. My Citroën contact in Auckland, Phil Cotter, found one in his barn (huge collector of Citroën parts) which had been sitting for 26 years. It was rescued from a similar model car which had been rear ended so engine, gearbox etc were saved.
Cost me $2200 or about £1300 for gearbox, shipping, disassembly and reassembling by my trusty mechanic Charlie Harper at South Foxton Motors. So now she runs well. She got new radiator but I'm desperate to source a top hose after ordering one from Germany which doesn't fit. Do you know where I can get a top hose for a 1987 BX19GTI?

How light is the Hillman Imp gearbox either you are very strong or the gearbox is very light

@@UPnDOWN The old gearbox internals were a real mess on you tube l have seen a BMW K100 engine swap that would be less torque and less power than the engine you have in Hilda now
The BMW K-series is a good swap, but came onto the scene just after Hilda was being put together.
@@UPnDOWN l know an engine swap in a Hillman lmp required a lot of modifications to the Hillman Imp the hardest would been the cooling system my brother has a Sunbeam Stileto but it hasn't been my going for years has the original engine and that's its big problem the engine needs repairing as for other British cars say a Morris 1000 or any car with the engine in the front but the Hillman Imp is so different with its engine layout and l did see a Type 3 Volkswagen with a Subaru engine swap at a Volkswagen car show once the radiator was a wide thin radiator placed under the front bumper bar but that was replacing the engine like for like if you know what l mean and many years ago there was this mini with a Honda CB750 engine and a month ago when l was betti petrol there was a Morris 1000 with a Toyota Corolla engine in it the big question is it an improvement or sacrilege also there are a lot if engine swapped cars on you tube as l say how do you improve a classic car engine swap it
