Thank you for sharing. Dina Joffe is one of the greatest musicians I have encountered in my life. She is an inspiration in live performance and as a teacher. A humble woman who clearly enjoys making music. Bolshoi Speciba (sorry for my poor Russian!).
I'm ecstatic this was filmed ! I can't believe some things she does No.5 &8 and with charm not the overdramatic frenzy we get with most pianists .This woman is a great Chopin player ! I've never heard the line so clear in the c#minor etude before!I 've just heard her scherzi and can't get enough of her good musical sense -a fabulous technique that finds the musical idea . She really opens up Chopin's secrets and makes unintelligible passages I've struggled with musical words ! I just had to hear her etudes and the g M Nocturne which has always been sentimental mush to me but here she gives us meaning . Must find her Barcarolle and other Nocturnes and impromptus. The Ballades !!!?? I don't know how she gets the middle voice and textures in 1st etude so clean,so musical and tasteful .Music not a flurry of notes ! Highest echelon of musicianship here !Her incredible touch! & faster tempo in no.3 gets rid of the sappy sentimentality and dust from the centuries ; phrasing and voicing in No.3 could make you cry .Top voice like a golden bell in places .How she can play no.4 like this and seem to enjoy the music is beyond me !
