Yamamoto is to Good, some were panicking after his first start, every player struggles in their first game, I remember Pedro Martinez struggled in his very first game also, and a couple of seasons he struggled but he became a great pitcher later on.
Yes on Pedro! Looking back, I think the Dodgers traded away Pedro bc he was the third of the Martinez brothers (Ramon and Jesus?) and bc he was kinda short, like Yamamoto today. Whoa, that’s one trade I wish the Dodgers could take back. 😂
With the bases loaded, he throws the same curveball three times in a row and gets a strikeout. He has confidence in his pitches, and that kind of attitude is characteristic of top players. He's sure to get better.
It’s my favorite characteristic of top players: how well they handle pressure. Yamamoto has overcome a lot of obstacles already. He’s got all the right stuff, just need to be consistent and continue to be able to make adjustments. I’m not worried about him.
Needless to say, he's been legit before, now, and forever, because he is the reigning defending undisputed member of the WBC champions, team SamuraiJapan 🇯🇵🏆🥇㊗️🔥!
He figured out his curve and trending towards figuring out his fast ball. Once he figures out his splitter (arguably his nastiest pitch) he could be in the realm of Pedro Martinez filth
Among Japanese pitchers Shohei Ohtani (Dodgers) has the fastest velocity Kodai Senga (Mets) has the sharpest breaking ball Shota Imanaga (Cubs) strikes out the most. But the pitcher who gives up the fewest runs is Yoshinobu Yamamoto (Dodgers). This is why he is considered the best pitcher in Japan. (I personally hope the Dodgers get Roki Sasaki too)
Sasaki needs to avoid injury and finish the full games in Npb. Also he has to control his mind and pitching in the state of crisis as Yamamoto does. Remember the match of Mexican last year. Yoshinobu Yamamoto had to pitch because Japanese team was in crisis. That's why Imanaga could pitch from the 1st inning. Congrats on Yamamoto's 1st win Mlb🎉 Of course he did a good job in the match of Sf Giants, too.
Frankly, I would like to see Sasaki and Murakami (if he gets back to his best) go to the Yankees because I want to see MLB more interesting. It would further expand the influence of Japanese players and it would be exciting to imagine them playing against the Dodgers.
If we wait a little longer, the legendary"Clayton Edward Kershaw"and"Shohei Ohtani"will also be pitching. (Pitcher"Roki Sasaki"may join the Dodgers next year... )😌✨ From Sendai, Japan, with love for the Dodgers
Glad he laid off the Splitter, that's what they were hitting in Korea. Yamamoto is finding what his best pitches are and that 12-6 is his bread and butter along with the fastball. Good work
The hype is real. Yamamoto is ELITE. His pitch arsenal is nasty, but now his curveball might be the best in MLB?! When he's locked in his command is world class. Once he settles in and becomes comfortable the sky's the limit. We're witnessing greatness.
Yamamoto's pitching is great to watch as he confronts the game head-on like that. I feel a sense of Japanese grace that is typical of the Japanese people.
@JimH657 not even just 7 innings, whole game and 100+ pitches too if needed but MLB is different, also better to manage his arm, specially considering the amount of elbows exploding recently
@@CJ-jr2uh His point is Yamamoto was able to completely shut down a hot team right now. It speaks to his ability and how well he adjusted from game 1.
Yamamoto's curveball is wickedly good. It has one of the best vertical and horizontal break. His curveball comes at head level high and drops into the strike zone. Can't wait he gets good command of his splitter. Two elite pitches are all he needs to dominate the MLB hitters....
I hope he can minimize those bases loaded situations as all it takes is 1 bad inning just like in Korea and teams are going to get used to his pitches over time, just like how Ohtani's sweeper started to get targetted by better hitters
From a Cubs fan, congrats to Yamamoto. But what could’ve made this more better? Having Shota Imanaga be our starter. This matchup would’ve been a lot better.
Yamamoto is to Good, some were panicking after his first start, every player struggles in their first game, I remember Pedro Martinez struggled in his very first game also, and a couple of seasons he struggled but he became a great pitcher later on.
Darvish also struggled in this first inning.
Pedro could throw some 🔥 for such a small dude....😮

I was thinking the same. The guy's got some stones to play with the edges with the bases loaded.
It’s my favorite characteristic of top players: how well they handle pressure.
Yamamoto has overcome a lot of obstacles already.
He’s got all the right stuff, just need to be consistent and continue to be able to make adjustments.

His curveball is something else.
His splitter is even more gross. If he can locate l, he will be more than dominant
According to Will Smith, Kershaw, and Glasnow, they said they've seen a lot of good pitchers but he's able to throw a "perfect" one.

Rainbow curve
Look at 2:01.
He stands there like a ballerina after throwing a 95-mph rising 4seam. What a sense of balance!
Good observation. He looked like a pitching machine😂
Haha I love it! Man I was so scared he was gonna be a bust!! So relieved.
The drop on that curveball...
Best curve ball in the game 💪

He was wobbly at first...new country, brand new in major league. Now he is in the zone. Scary good! 💙⚾🔥

Insane curve
Love watching Yamamoto pitch.❤

8K that's enough for me.. congratulations Yoshi 🎉
Great stuff from Yamamoto today, only getting better from here!
Show that emotion Yamamoto-san! We love it here in LA!
If he can adapt this quick to a new country and new league, he will be on another level in a year or two.
ノーアウト満塁から三者連続三振はマジでバケモノだわ
I thought his split finger was his best pitch but this curve is out of this world!
It's like a B+ game for him, splitter and cutter had not showed up yet. This guy is a monster.
That curveball is unreal. Absolute perfection
Only three games in and he’s showing elite control. 97mph fastballs. Going to be a nasty pitcher.
足を上げるフォームに変えれば100マイルも可能です
Yamamoto for real had my heart in my throat, but to keep his cool and command, he's the real deal!
It's not Yamamoto that worries you, it's the Dodgers' defense.
We knew he was going to adjust after the loss in Korea, but didn't know it would be this quick. Such a good pitcher
いつも春先は微妙なんです、山本は。
Those who've been following him for a while know he always has one unexplainable stinker per year, looks like he got it out of the way in Korea lol
Imagine when Ohtani is back active as a pitcher in 2025! Dodgers looking scary lol
they already scary u goof ball
@@mortystraphouse5077 loosen up buddy
And Roki Sasaki in 2025
@PeopleDork_on_iG of course you are...
Sasaki needs to finish full games in Npb. He never ended thd season due to chronic injury.
Such a compact delivery. How does his wind up generate that much velocity and control?
Bro, his throwing mechanics are modelled on the javelin.
Bro throws javelins
He moves sideways and hardly drops like most do. It's unusual
Yamamoto is a completed pitcher
*complete*
I believe he will gradually adapt to the major leagues
Best curve ball pitcher out right now 💪 💥

Yup, Yamamoto is an 'artist' all right...........with his pitching skill.
