From just playing the game between that last warbond to this latest, and the super credits from that last warbond, I had enough credits to buy this latest warbond and still have 915 left. This game quite literally pays for itself. That's basically 2 premium warbonds for free, just for playing the game.

All of this is just sad as a aspiring game dev because all I want to do is make a good game with awesome gameplay, amazing characters, and great story plain and simple. But also thanks to people like you I am more aware of what I am getting into so I thank you, and God bless and for Super Earth.

Helldivers devs need to get rid of or either control that community manager. She can singlehandedly destroy the goodwill the devs have with gamers just because of her bringing politics into a game community that is trying to stay way from it.

Your farmer pays more for his products because his suppliers gas cost has gone up, and then tax on that additional cost.
His actual farming equipment costs more to run, and his tax costs are increased by that increase.
Now he has to hire a trucker to get it to the store, Guess what's been going on for that trucker? All the same things, He's been double dipped as well and has to pass that cost on to him now.
Now the grocery store has their spreadsheet monkeys look at the massively increased costs and adjust them accordingly, (A LOT) Guess what? They have to pay more to heat the store, pay more for the trucking as well, Pay more for all of the products they stock, and pay their employees more to afford the higher prices (LOL, this is obviously the last priority and only when the government further damages the market with visible hand wage fixing which benefits only the largest corporations) This is all true of every industry in Canada, and how people are not putting together the clearest policy cause and effect of our lifetimes boggles my mind.
'cost of living crisis' meanwhile everything the Government does could only foreseeably increase them further, and no one would even argue otherwise.
Canadians have been buying some story that Businesses have never been in it for profit in the past and are now suddenly just being MORE greedy...

I'm married, have 5 kids, a job, all the rest of it. Like Endymion here, single player stuff has dominated my limited playtime for the last few years. But i can confirm. Helldivers II is the MOST I've engaged with any online game since my old Battlefield squad retired and moved on to pastures new.

JRPG stands for Japanese Role-Playing Game. The reason the acronym exists is not of ill/rude-intent but as RPG games have differing styles of storytelling/gameplay between Western and Eastern countries back then when games on console were quite new. There is one clear thing, Japan did make RPG games a lot more popular back then (especially with Final Fantasy) and thus claimed that throne... So, it is a way to respect Japan in that regard, so seeing unwarranted trash talk can be seen as disrespect to both genre and audiences that enjoy said genre.

Helldivers 2 has been such a breath of fresh air. It's so rare that I have absolutely zero regrets after buying a game. Fun gameplay, good community, constant updates to content, and no predatory microtransactions. Recipe for a great game.

JRPGs are narratively separate from WRPGs.
WRPGs feature heavy choice-based gameplay with the player controlling someone who is either a blank canvas or has a lot of blank spots for the player to fill in themselves through gameplay choices and story decisions. These games are more about the player's self expression.
JRPGs have you piloting a predetermined character going through a (mostly) predetermined story. This is about the player experiencing the story of these characters. It's their story, not the players.
They're fundamentally different experiences.

In terms of TTRPGs, games in the west seem to be a bit more player centric, vs JRPGs are more like a railroad. It is a style choice, some players prefer one over the other. Though arguably most of the games I have seen would be annoyed by being railroaded, as they create their characters and want to play them however they want. Interesting contrast, as my latest game was pregenerated characters in a premade dungeon crawl, which does make it sort of feel like a JRPG.
JRPGs also have a very distinct movement feel and camera motion, from all the ones I've played.
Instead of WRPG and JRPG, how about we use WokeRPG and BasedRPG so it's clear what we're getting?
At this point I think the best terminology we can use is 'Free RPGs' vs 'Curated RPGs'. WRPG=FRPG and JRPG=CRPG. I figure 'free' puts in what we are there for, the freedom to make the story what we want. While 'curated' makes it clear that we are here for the ride of the developers story.
Bruh. To ANY adult, 5 hours is craaaazy time, especially those with kids. I get at least 1 game in, maaaaybe 3 or 4 if I'm super lucky. Once the baby goes to grandma's, I got about 2 hours before the kid gets home from school. I fuckin WISH I had the time to play for 5 hours... That's also what's so crazy about this game. Most players are adults with limited time. For this game to have such amazing player retention, and time sunk in to things like MOs, it obviously has to be an amazing game.

On top of people also not playing JUST this game. For example, I still actively play FF14 on the side. And Chivalry, Darktide and a bunch more.

Saying that JRPG is a racist term is just insane to me. When growing up, the term JRPG signified to me and everyone I knew a level of quality, depth, and player skill that you just never see in a western RPG. And that still is true today. Nearly every western RPG made today is designed to appeal to the casual masses, to the point where most of them just play themselves. It's no different than putting a "made in China" or "made in America" tag on an item. It tells you the quality and cultural mindset that went into the creation of that item.
Tell me about it. If 'JRPG' is racist, then so should the word 'Western' (as a film\ game genre) be, because it talks about cowboys and cowboys hated Native Americans or whatever... See, I can't even justify it, it's all so dumb.

Just started last night, and one thing i hook with is the aesthetic. On mission, i can see other Destroyer squadrons in areas nearby, launching ordnance, which also shows in those near arenas. I can see blue beacons of other team's drops or exfil points, and i can be confident they are holding the line, too. In orbit, i can see a good representation of all the other squadrons in the region of the planet just by looking out a window, and i know those are *actual* player ships, not something thrown in to give a sense of scale.
Hell, halfway through the tutorial, i realized those rockets launching in the background were other players finishing the tutorial and going off to war with their capes.
I havent seen a good example of community-ness (outside of MMOs) since Dark Souls 1, with you being able to hear other players ringing the bells.

There are gamer reviews they have no reason to exist as a job. In the past these journalists were actual gamers. Modern gaming journalists are failed journalists. I feel the title of this video is misleading. Helldivers 2 devs have not said a word about the Sweet Baby Agenda. I clicked this video with the intent of being enlightened about them FINALLY making a statement, but that was not the case at all. Instead, we got another opinion piece about how because the focus of Helldivers 2's existence is to give the player a good time as opposed to pushing modern social politics. I understand your example of what Remedy is doing and did to the Alan Wake/Control/Max Payne universe, but that example doesn't mean that the devs of Helldivers 2 don't share the same goals/opinions. As a matter of fact, the only representation about the issues you constantly bring up was from their community manager.
Until the devs themselves speak publicly on the matter I don't believe titles like this or the constant push from your videos that the Helldivers 2 devs are going against the grain are correct. I say this as a strong supporter of your work. I'd hate to wake up one day and the devs finally decide to speak on the matter and completely shit all over your videos claiming they rejected. It not only will make you look foolish, but it will tarnish your representation as an open-minded individual who reports on facts and use the facts against those who attempt to make the world a miserable/knee-bending place.

I want to hit on the "JRPG" thing. Honestly, there is a huge difference in Japanese RPGS comparatively to Western RPGS. If they really pushed to take out that term, it would actually take credit away from the people and studios that develop them. This whole "woke" and "inclusion" debacle is actually far more detrimental, which we are all seeing.
The term isn't even related to the company who makes it. Elden Ring isn't considered a JRPG despite being made in Japan I believe

I love Helldivers 2 but I do wonder whos decision it was to make every single character in the game black except for the one guy in the intro. Everyone on your Super Destroyer and the family in the intro are coloured people, every one of them.

The biggest point scorer for me is that the game isn’t centric around the upper echelon of players, but all games of all difficulties matter. I usually play difficulty rank III on solo, but it has just as much impact as someone playing on helldive difficulty

The Helldivers 2 progression is a lot like Pokemon's global missions back in Sun/Moon, or some MMO's events with server-wide progress bars for a final resolution reward. It's great.
Halo Infinite battle passes are always available and have a free and premium version when it is the current one. Holiday passes are inaccessible when it is no longer the current BP. When a season ends, that last BP and the ones before will not have a free version.

Endymion, in your next video, please talk about the recent woke turn that Game's Workshop has taken on twitter by claiming that there had always been female Custodes (even though the lore stated that Custodes are a brotherhood and were all SONS of nobles). Warhammer 40k was one of the last bastion that hasn't been plagued by woke bs, but given Game's Workshop stance on twitter, I fear that they're on the way to ruin the IP by pandering to the 1% of people (who don't even buy WH40K stuff btw).
It's also concerning for Henry Cavill's show. Amazon is already quite woke, so if GW follow their step we might end up with a Rings of Power v2. Henry Cavill is keen on respecting the source material, but now that GW change the lore on a whim just to pander....

The part about AW2 taking away control so often reminds me of SOMA, which is the complete opposite. In SOMA there isn't a single moment where you leave the perspective, or lose control of the main character. Even the slightest actions require player input.

I always thought the term JRPG was meant to differentiate between Western RPGs and Eastern ones, but also because of the difference in style. JRPGs are built differently. I can't pinpoint how, but they always seem like a higher quality i.e. Persona 5
They have always been very different and so the distinction between them is useful. In Japan they also call JRPGs just roleplaying games, and specify if a roleplaying game is made in the west as being different from their domestic ones

I love how bombs in HD2 leave craters. The detail of deforming the play space is fantastic! They really immerse you into the game. I routinely forget how much time has passed, despite the mission timer being a thing.
