THE NEW GUARDIANS 1- Inside one of the most bonkers, problematic comic books ever!

I’m not sure what I thought of this comic when it first came out- but “it didn’t age well”- might be one of the most diplomatic things you can say about it. It’s not like it didn’t have a solid creative team written by industry veteran Steve Englehart with some pretty stellar art by legendary Joe Staton and Mark Farmer. The use of current events incorporated into the storyline and characters rife with stereotypes are misguided and cringeworthy. This book is definitely a moment in time. And not a great one for comics. Please join me for a look inside.

As a Staton fan, I'd be curious to see what you think of Metal Men #52 and #53, which are also pretty bonkers, but in a different way.
