  • Watch as our techs get this Blueprint 540ci swapped in to this 1970 Custom Nova and running in a day! Stick around til the end for the burnout. Our client, Claude, is going to be very pleased with the performance he is going to get out of this engine. He's just going to have to be very careful.

I will take that old 502, that's what i have in my 67 Camaro. Has 1000s of 1/8 mile passes and some street miles and runs 6.48 @104 1/8 mile. That 540 would put my car around the 6 flat high 5s. great video.

At 6.50....The young installer says "They usually don't start first try"....lol!
What he's really saying is "I usually can't remember to do everything necessary, to start it on the first try"
His experience shows in the words he chose.

I just got this same engine for my 57 Chevy Bel Air. replacing the current 327. Also converting the Turbo 350 with a 5-speed Tremec TKX transmission and Currie 9 in. rear.

I did not pick that a suited black dude would be picking up that car but all respect to him. Appreciates fine machinery.

I have never seen two techs so over the moon over a Blueprint crate motor! But, hey, who am I to judge?

I was reading a blueprint techs answer to the question how high that engine could rev . He said 7500-8000 . you couldn't spin a factory alternator that fast and have it be ok , I don't think even the good tremec transmissions tko500 wanna go past 7000 . Its got a .039 head gasket on it , I think you can buy ones that are mls .027 now , makes a big difference maybe go to 10.25-1 . I really think they are careful when they build these to make sure they don't blow . give up some power for durability I think .

Any idea how the engine's still running? There's a lot of bad reviews of BPE.

ever drive on the streets much considering similar build just don't want to be overkill but still go on the track.

10 second car with some excellent traction and right gears but an engine like that is really a track engine, I hope the owner doesn't expect it to idle and drive like a hellcat

I been trying to figure out its dynamic compression ratio with that cam and compression , but info is kind of vague . I think you can put a much smaller cam in it and be ok with pump gas . from a 254 duration at .50 down to like a 232 . youll lose a tun of power , but you can idle is slower and still have probably 600 hp easy . dynamic im guessing is 7.8 to one . that cam is pretty big and should be in a 12-1 compression engine . but I guess the dyno doesn't lie

SInce they ran it on the dyno its less likely to not fire right up. The only other reason not to would be an electrical or fuel issue in the car.

Right! When the guy said "they usually don't fire right up".....
What he's actually admitting is " I can't remember everything it needs to run, most of the time"
