This is my ultimate goal. My dream. I am 35 and about 50-60 lbs. overweight. Back in my 20's, I completed several marathons and even won best in my age group once. It's hard to recognize the girl I once was, but I'll find her again. I'm a week back into running and renewing my love for it. A 100 is my goal for when I turn 40. These athletes are truly inspiring. Great video.
You're out of breath. Your legs feel like they're on fire. Your shin is especially tight, so tight you feel like they're going to tear. Your mouth dry and shirt wet. You feel emotional, you feel like crying, you feel tired. Everyone and everything tells you to stop running. But there is all but one voice who tells you to keep going. To keep pushing. It gets only that slightly easier. But it gets a lot more satisfying. To know you could run that far, you can do anything you want in life. Mind over body.
I used to be addicted to running, running at least 50 miles a week. Never even competed, just did it because i loved running. All i thought about at work was going for a run after it. Everyone thought i was crazy, even i thought i was crazy, all this running for nothing more than personal gratification, it was masochism. But that's got nothing on an Ultra marathoner, those guys/gals are just on another level of masochism.
@@rebekkalykke9197 lol what’s with this question man, running will make you loose calories depending on how many miles you run, etc. If you wanna lose weight you need to burn more calories than you eat so yes it will help you get in shape if you also eat the right stuff.
YEA! that was a good video, I'm so psyched up. Leadville and Western States have become big dreams for me in the past 6 months. I only started trail-running this year (I'm 30 years old) but now it won't get out of my head. this video does justice to my dreams of making it out there. thanks for sharing
I really loved this short film in so many ways. Thank for making it! Had to find the music so had to share in case anyone enjoyed it as much as i did -- Helios - Halving The Compass (Rhian Sheehan Remix)
I run 66 miles ascend 770m time 11h 27minutes , it was my own race from my house in Gloucester Uk to Chesptow Wales and way back, I would like to participate in the 100 miles race some day
Rocket Power The fact you think you’d have to be a psychopath to be a billionaire shows how clueless you are. There’s good and bad billionaires, just like any other demographic of people.
I'm 6'3 235lbs and I run 10 miles a day. I say this because for me its insanely hard. I can't fathom the pain tolerance, training, and mental strength these guys go through
@@gregwagner4464 I tried man, literally. I lost 205lbs, joined the Navy, and tried to pst for BUDS but my body was so broken I couldn't make the times. YET atleast. I'm not giving up though.
been looking at signing up for it... this video only makes me want to run it more. but im only a 16 year old HS XC runner. i deffinitly am not conditioned enough for one yet. but i will make it a goal to run a ultra in years to come.
Keep it mostly fun. Also beware the trend these days that gets young people thinking that they deserve lavish reward For living out dream hobbies. It's a set up for becoming a psychological basket case. Meaning in life comes from having a value system based on a sound moral compass and living it out, not for gain, glory or ego. Running is a good thing except that every good thing is capable of being perverted. Lots of that these days, so be careful.
Inspirational. I am not an ultra runner - though I do a few short (sic) ones, max so far 66miles on a lap course - I wonder if I have/will ever have the.... grit, stubbornness, single mindedness, x factor, madness... to attempt something like this?
Everyone keeps talking about how strong these people are. But I keep thinking how do they find all that time. Don't they have jobs to do? I am not talking about professionals
haha are you kidding me? I can run 4 miles at 6.4 on the threadmil and seeing these people run up a mountain at that pace and knowing they will run 100 miles almost gave me a heart attack, HOW DA FUCK DO THEY DO IT??
We wear them because the combination of the very rugged terrain of our races, combined with a level of fatigue most humans will never experience or understand, means we tend to “eat dirt” occasionally. Doing it with gloves on can save you from nasty injuries. Such injuries probably won’t mean a DNF, but they do tend to slow you down, and besides, we don’t need any more pain than necessary when running 100 miles. (This is Ben writing this, experienced 100 miler.)
The best running event in every our race details in Google ;DUV ultra marathons statistics 😄😄so nice life as we add miles in our account search by name in DUV😃😀
As a former Lifetime Fitness HQ employee, I'm sad to see they purchased this as well as many other endurance events. The CEO, Braham, began a relationship with a trainer at HQ gym, she became his assistant instantly and now all his butt buddies are working their way up his pants and around the table. Gross.

Kimberly H. ...a lofty goal, nice. Just start off slow, our mind is stronger than our older bodies
do it, go!! take it patiently and day by day and you'll get there again!
Kimberly H.
Go for it. Build up slowly. I hope to do this one day, too
Good thing you used to run marathons you have a lot of adaptations then someone who never ran distance. I 100% think its possible try 50mi first
Checking up on you Kim. How's progress?
Just finished my first Leadville 100 and had to rewatch this video for the 20th time. So inspirational and still gets me choked up!
That is awesome! Keep up the hard work!
awesome congrats!!!!
Congratulations
oh man how the hell do you guys do it? I need some of that determination too, please share some.
I had both excitement and tears in my reactions. And I have never run any ultra longer than 30 miles (a tiny race compared to the Leadville 100).
Props to the cameraman, film composition very good, cinematography, outstanding!
Thanks JT! glad you enjoyed the film.
KC here. Go Royals!
Funny how little people realize or respect the camera work. Agreed, that's a long race to cover.
Yea, doesn't even get a medal for running back and forth between them, running more than 100 miles ... 🥸
the unexplainable sensation to run in the dark..mesmerizing...thank you for this short film...

Were you in shape, or did running get you at all in shape?
I am new to being a consistent runner, but it has become something I think about at work constantly. It calms me.

Thanks for letting us use your video for our academy award winning film!
This was one of the most inspirational videos of my life
Beautiful, just beautiful video!! Really inspirational :) Thanks for sharing!!
Awesome video! I’ll probably never run a tough 100 out west but it’s cool to watch vicariously through the eyes of these runners.
every now and then ill go to the end of my driveway to get the mail
we are very proud of you.
my tears fell out, they inspire me to run in any obstacles
This is amazing, the amount of spirit this must take to push yourself that hard

good job mate!!
You live near me!
not all psychopaths are billionaires or serial killers.
you watch too many movies.
not psychopaths, but there is something there
Easy to call ultra runners psychopaths, it would be convenient not to feel anything while running 100 miles but that's not anybody's story!
Rocket Power
The fact you think you’d have to be a psychopath to be a billionaire shows how clueless you are.
There’s good and bad billionaires, just like any other demographic of people.
Because being self disciplined, following training plans, and taking care of yourself is psychopathic...
I applaud you all 👏 There is hope for humanity, when i see people like this.
Me too, Glyn. Thanks for the helping me👋
Everytime i complete a long distance run I just felt amazing
Amazing! Great video
Opening shot with ghosts running in the dark is so cool. Not at that level yet but will try it.
Superhuman effort. Nothing but a massive respect for these warriors.
Respect from India 👏👏👏
Absolutly a beautiful video!
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing. Keep it up
training at that altitude I bet a regular marathon at sea level wouldn't even leave the runners breathing hard.
a 400m will leave them breathing hard if they run fast enough
I'm 6'3 235lbs and I run 10 miles a day. I say this because for me its insanely hard. I can't fathom the pain tolerance, training, and mental strength these guys go through
David goggins did it. So can you.

I used to weigh 238 i am now 171 lbs
how old?
That level of dedication is unreal
"The toughest part is signing up for the race."
My first trail running was 4km and i am 17 yrs. but now my longest trail so far is 37k with 1380ft elevation
They are on whole new level. With strong will you can do everything!!!
Beautiful video!! Thanks for share with us! 😍😍
Thanks Andre!
Well done!!! You made it!
Loved this! Leadville is my dream race. As long as my knees don't give out ;-)
Running uphill is the craziest thing I can imagine in my life right now... it's like noooo wwaaaaay I can be that strong
Bozhura Stefanova you can do the things you allow yourself to do :)

I. WILL.
Face your fears because your goal demands it
Every time we visit Leadville, I run 5-7 miles @ Silver Kings ..My husband drives his truck behind me with our kids lol.
good choice of music, Helios
Jesus, I love this. This is why we do it.
Fantastic!!!
Great Vid!!
And I thought biking it was crazy!
Ya know...for some really chill people who don’t like too much attention...they sure are all over UA-cam and podcasts
Promoters and wannabees
Inspirational. I am not an ultra runner - though I do a few short (sic) ones, max so far 66miles on a lap course - I wonder if I have/will ever have the.... grit, stubbornness, single mindedness, x factor, madness... to attempt something like this?
I admire 100milers, I enjoy running also but I couldn't put my body trough that torture
oh well, you will be one of those guys that will die and never did it, welcome to the club.
You dont want to*
I always thought it was pronounced “Leedville”,anyway great video!
how the hell are you supposed to finish this damn thing?
One step at a time
I would be physically in pain driving this distance, legs would be cramping with lower back stiffness
What song is this?!
Anyone knows what/who's music was it in the background? That created half the charm of the video.
You could try to ask Google by playing it in the back and then asking on another phone/device
I lived in Leadpipe for a few years
Beautiful
amazing
This is Nice video.
Name of music? Tanks
I'm 57, I still do several 25 km trail runs a year. 100 miles? Ya, do-able if you want it bad enough.
TO FINISH IN JUST 24 HOURS THATS 60X24= 1440/ 100= 14.4 MINUTES PER MILE
At that altitude, most Americans would make no more than one mile at that pace.
Awesome 😎
I think that's David Horton speaking at 1:27.
NICE
Are we gonna get to see the llamas Jimmy?
can anyone tell me in what month is this race and whats the exact location ?
I’m gonna guess Leadville, Colorado by the looks of ot
yea bro im trying to rob them too
How many meters / feet of elevation?
A lot
these guys are the people who always get 100 on the pacer test and waste the rest of gym time
Everyone keeps talking about how strong these people are. But I keep thinking how do they find all that time. Don't they have jobs to do? I am not talking about professionals
How much time does the typical American spend watching tv and/or UA-cam?
Some of them run around 100 miles a week just getting to and from their job.
I think that Kipchoge could run it under 13 hours.
Song???
Where is this?....
guloguloguy Out and back from Leadville, Colorado.
Wow!
Why?
One day dream
I can't even run a 5k and I'm 37 in a few months. I am a failure at life
These are the super humans that are hiding among ua
haha are you kidding me? I can run 4 miles at 6.4 on the threadmil and seeing these people run up a mountain at that pace and knowing they will run 100 miles almost gave me a heart attack, HOW DA FUCK DO THEY DO IT??
Kinda like fun, only different.
Don't want to look skinny, get injured often, and die young? Then don't do endurance exercise!
3:50 legit green screen
why do they wear gloves?
Because your hands get sort of cold when you run sometimes
We wear them because the combination of the very rugged terrain of our races, combined with a level of fatigue most humans will never experience or understand, means we tend to “eat dirt” occasionally. Doing it with gloves on can save you from nasty injuries. Such injuries probably won’t mean a DNF, but they do tend to slow you down, and besides, we don’t need any more pain than necessary when running 100 miles. Funny how all they show is running in these videos about ultras but if you look at the times they literally walked 90 percent of the race lol
Isn't there that tribe in Mexico that can do this plus more without all the complaints.
You are too lazy to figure it out yourself so you just leave a salty comment instead :)
If someone were forced to do this it would be a 'crime against humanity'. If you force yourself to do it then it is a 'noble undertaking'.
All that way and no cheering crowd at the end. Just your partner to give you a hug and drive you home. Weird.
“Half the starters won’t finish”.... I’m sure that’s not true.
The reason it's not much much lower is you have to perform well in a qualifier race of about 50 miles before you can enter the Leadville 100.
The truth is actually extremely sexist.
The vast majority if women starters finish, but half of men who start do not finish.
All that beauty and vistas and he has a pair of head phones in.....
Derek Pugh you shouldn’t judge what they need to do to race 100 miles. Once you’ve done 26 mikes come back and maybe you can talk.
The best running event in every our race details in Google ;DUV ultra marathons statistics 😄😄so nice life as we add miles in our account search by name in DUV😃😀
The music is bloody depressing.
Why does that woman runner have a black strap below her knee?
tubesockets120v it is for patellar tendinitis.
Jesus loves you :)
They do it for competition ,....but the commandos...they do it for daily basis,..take that one...
As a former Lifetime Fitness HQ employee, I'm sad to see they purchased this as well as many other endurance events. He didnt even look tired when he crossed the finish line.... Drugs!
It's no longer healthy exercise; this is just irrational, self-destructive egotism.
Gotta stop using the overused word "iconic"...
They are all sick,,,,,moving like turtles for so many hours,,,,,yet taking our tax money to support them on welfare. SAD
amazing
