Its thin sheet metal you can use plyers or a hand bender.

I also learned terracotta missionary type shingles are between 15 and $20 a shingle so you guys are going to want to be very careful when using a hammer on this stuffj

Wrong. Go read the Manual. Flat tile is flashed the same way as shingles. Individual tins up the side.
