The Ambush effect is like targeting commander like Pakal, Tariq, Harald who has skill giving them bonus stat when get swarmed. Or Tariq wont get bonus 500 nuke damage when he get swarmed also. This skill kinda a critical to Tariq/Pakal rally or Pakal/Harald.
Zhuge look dope, all the damage and everything, but there is one major thing, no march speed, and archers right now need the march speed, without it, he will be the primary target to get focused.
I think going ZL 5551 looks pretty solid as well - both are needed tho at some point. Everyone should be chasing meta commanders (nev, Joan, skippy, boudica, guan yu, and ZL now imo)
My understanding with the ambush affect is once the target gets it they can’t benefit from the surrounded effect (ie attackers surrounding swarm garrison). The surrounded effect is just a boost in damage when “you” surround a target it pops up briefly then the white numbers. Now does Nevsky and Williams “surrounded skills” still work while under the ambush effect is a good question.
That might be one interperatation. We also it down a bit on the Creator Corner Podcast today and think it's a direct counter to pakal "being surrounded" reduced damage skill

Awesome take! It might be a thing for archer players to ignore some the "meta" stats and chase March speed armamanets - open field mainly
