another video without Hoffman being in a zeppelin, look at what he forgos to bring us these S-tier designs
A good candidate for the front sight is the Defiance sight from Kriss. It sits just about .25” higher than standard back up irons. They are designed for the Vector but just the front may work here 🤷♂️
Good point. Always options for those who want irons.
Design idea: I wonder if aluminum or steel rods/rails/extrusions could be incorporated inside the rail/ receiver to aid with rigidity, heat tolerance, and accuracy while maintaining the aesthetics of the build. That could be a minimalistic, lightweight, and simple improvement to the platform if it works.
Could partner with Aves or Riptide for manufacturing if needed.
Keep up the great work!
i really appreciate the level of b roll youre starting to use
I've got an editor.
These novel design decisions are pretty awesome. I’m really glad you explained, because I’m not sure I’d have guess anything except the zip tie ports.
I guess an Orca has moved up my list a little.
you could still create a little adapter thsat alows people to instal iron sights of they want to
Thanks for posting this. Sloped rail had me confused and I actually reprinted it once. Great project!
love the update.. please keep up the great work.. love you and everything you create
I love that you didn't make the rail straight. For a 3DP build, I'd rather maintain the aesthetic than gain any negligible tactical advantage of that section of the rail. Good on you for not conforming to current designs.
Yes, it's pretty non conventional.
I learn so much listening to you. Your a genius to be so young!
I love the effort/ingenuity/time spent on all this.
I can't wait till you incorporate 'some' aluminum or even stamped steel into it.
I'd look at something like a G3 where the handguard etc is held on one end by a triple-ring mount (in that case). For AR it'd be a double ring, which is basically an extension of a barrel ring that allows mounting reinforcement for handguards, bipod attach point, and front irons.
Thanks for the PSR .50 collab.....was epic stuff💪
Love the hat, it looks rather dapper!
I still think you should add room in the buttstock to carry like extra rounds, or small medical supplies, or batteries
And also make the pistol grip hold stuff like Magpul grips...
Always nice to carry random stuff on your rifle
Even if it's just to add weights in the back of the stock for better balancing after you add stuff to the front of the upper receiver...
Just a few ideas
Excellent design Hoffman for the quad-laser!
I kinda just wanna see a normal range day with the orca. Especially rocking this new handguard
Not sure if its a worthy option to explore or mess around with, but I recently added a folding a2 sight to one of my rifles. There's a cutout on the top and bottom of the handguard to allow it to fit, but due to assembly issues the handguard itself has to consist of two separate pieces that bolt together around the barrel nut. So yeah, probably won't work, but It's a thought :) Also a hoffman bad lever would be cool :D
I've been watching for the last couple of years, but never got around to printing any of your designs (despite buying from your website). This orca design has re-sparked my interest in the 3d printing hobby as a whole. I can't wait to actually get one of these printed and be Super Safe with it. It will be an early Christmas for sure. Thank you for what you do.
i would love to see a FGC9 Orca Hybrid lol the inner workings of a a FGC9 and the outter design of a orca if thats even possible but i like to play around with strange ideas in my head lol ,so i thought i might share this spontanoius idea i just had ...
FCG-9 is fully PLA printed and is ugly kinda purposefully for strength and the non traditional parts.
This guys gun is sweet but it would melt with PLA due to its aesthetic design, so it has to be printed with the carbon fiber for strength and temp control.
TPU and carbon fiber nylon are pretty hard to print and expensive. So the gun itself isn’t that cheap in comparison to the PLA printable one.
Someone may be able to do it, but I think the above would make it quite difficult.
Old school gas blocks with a rail used to be about a 1/4 inch lower, and there was a common "FSB style front sight that was extra tall, specifically to mount on the gas block and still reach the correct height. I'm sure you can find that front sight in the wild somewhere and scan it so you can print it out if you want. Maybe change the height if needed, so that it works perfectly for your front rail's height.
Love this.
1. Why not run MLOK the full length and a height that is compatible with MLOK Picatinny sections, to archeive your goal AND front sight mounting? You already did it on the bottom for a bipod.
2. Print a tape switch mlok adapter and bypass Picatinny, giving you that low grip height. 3 or 4 major wml companies make tape switches that are similar to each other.
Keep up the great work!
I'll have to check out those tape switch options!
Very slick. Thanks.👍
My Orca is still sitting in the box lol... I will eventually get it built... But nice to see the new upgrades for it!! See you @ the Odysee!! Appreciate your Hard Work Brotha!
that thumbnail is beautiful
I'd like to see guides on using 3D prints to do metal casting
@hoffman really like the Orca design! Printed it out and got your parts kit 😊 BUT I have a question: do you think it's accurate enough for short range hog hunting considering your newest updates?
I think so. 6-8 MOA.
Beautiful build,do you have a video on the settings you use in cura and supports?
Good for you Sir.
Thank you.
Legend.
A micro ARP orca would be cool
Lets go boys we got the hero we need
Fearless Orca rail next???
0:38 😂 I like Bi-pods ❤
A railed gas block might be a good option for front irons.
If you put a red dot on the angled part of the picatinny it would be for extreme long range like a long range scope base lol
What is the current release version for the orca?
Is there any chance of a 9mm Orca lower in the future? Love this design.
A chance, yes.
Couldn't you increase the rigidity by mlok slotting a large portion of the top rail then mloking metal picatinny rails in place? A version much like the Aero Quantum handguard? Having an added metal rail across the top (maybe in 3-6-9 positions too) should keep things straight enough for iron sights...right? Maybe?
Possibly.
@@HoffmanTactical Hell yeah. Man. You've done AWESOME work. Keep it up!
Cute
is good
heard a rumor this guy was arrested. glad to still see you posting
Where was that?
Question!
What color is better for 3D Printing the orca so that it doesn't overheat and melt the plastic as I'm using it?
Black or White?
In science, Black takes in more heat but white takes the least amount.
Just wondering if by that logic, black is the worst option and then white is the best option to take in heat.
I think the material you use matters more then it’s color.
That only applies to heat from light reflecting or being absorbed, so I guess by that logic white would be better but I don't think it works how you think it does
Black takes in more heat due to the way it absorbs light rather than reflect it (as white reflects light). If youre gonna be leaving this thing to bake in the sun, then it would make a difference. However, if youre thinking of firing the thing the gun is not emitting light, so color does not matter. If it did, tou wouldnt see so many people using basic black PLA
Material is much mote important here. (Though PLA+/pro works just fine for most applications)
Would make very little difference.
Just commenting to help the algorithm
Got a link for the hat?
Anyone else just see the thumbnail and just think "welp, nice tactical Sundial"
good design, but the angling of the top rail i think could be done better.
if the purpose is a tape switch that will sit lower, a flat surface inbetween 2 flat rails would be a better design. It would sit lower, fit better, and look nicer.
like the TPO ar15 handguard
The rail is needed to secure the switches. Interrupted rail systems require sticky tape and zip ties to secure the rail.
Talks about bipods and jokes about not being able to aim, but what about laser users?
PS: Yes I wanna start a fight between these factions.
IR lasers are awesome.
@@HoffmanTactical Hey, if you're going for IR that means you're probably using an thing night vision kit and that's pretty based...
The picatinny rail is so warped lmfao
Look again ;) That's intentional, for a tape switch.
Do you find that your pa6-cf prints come out with a rough "feeling"? Prints look great but feel like sandpaper in the hand. Not nice and smooth like a pla+. Does annealing change this? Are you sanding or post processing?
Some filaments with a higher fiber content is always this way. I've found also that a wet filament will have a rougher surface. PA6-CF from Polymaker is normally pretty smooth when printed dry.
@@HoffmanTactical thank you for the reply. Ive kept the material in a dry box at 16% humidity during the print. Am now considering using an active filament dryer during printing. It does seem smoother when freshly dried.
make the holes hexagon for better airflow
Make a lwrc style ambi lower!
Do you anneal these post print?
Yes.
Offset iron in tape mount zip tie channel
Resin printed?
Prefer SOPMOD Block Orca edition 😂
Tape switch? Tape switch. Tape switch...
OMG 😱 it a Lucas copy and paste. Where's the energy drinks 😂
No caffeine here.
