Thanks for the GoPro demo. I had been wondering about the quality, but I see it is just fine. Love the underwater shot and the fact you can wear it around your neck for an accurate POV. Nice work and nice carving. I love sushi, too.
You're welcome Jay! I actually placed it on my chest for the pov view.
I have just started culinary art school, and the chef advised the class to check out how chefs create garnishes on youtube, and I came upon your site,; you are awesome. I love your site I have learned so much and I am going to make every single garnish you video has to offer. You are incredible
I would never be able to make the same cut of two eyes as perfect as that. Love the gopro shot, it has more angle n shows more detail on how to cut.
I'VE WATCHED SOME OF YOUR VIDEOS AND THANK YOU FOR SHARING THOSE IDEAS...You change my worLd! GOD BLESS AND MORE VIDEOS TO COME...CONGRATULATION!!!!!
Glad to hear my videos have had such a impact on you! thank you Sahlee :)
Sahlee Doromal Jamora
I like the GoPro quality of the video! And I love your cuc and carrot deco carving tutorials!!!
I like the subtle go pro advertising
Real subtle ;)
GoPro was kind enough to send me 2 cameras to make videos with :D
+How To Make Sushi They're not "kind", they just wanted some free ad...
+John Tedonneraipasmonnom it's not free if they had to send 2 cameras. Those are worth around $300 each.
Katelyn Luong You buy them for 300$ each, but the production cost is was lower than that.
+John Tedonneraipasmonnom it still costs money to produce them, so regardless , not free 😁
I remember watching your videos back in elementary school lol you inspired me to become a chef
So cute and absolutely genius! I have loved Orcas since I was little and saw the Free Willy movies so seeing and Orca made from cucumber is amazing! You have great skills!
I think this worked perfect to be able to see exactly how to do the carving. If you want to attempt this yourself, I found it very helpful. I'd like to see this style for more of this kind of thing.
These videos have really inspired me!
Awesome! What are you going to do with this new found inspiration? alex solhdoost
***** She's shamelessly marketing go pro's on her channel also
Your the whole reason I do cooking videos thank you
Love the GoPro!!!! Quality is stellar.
I live on the other side of Florida ( Fort Myers) and i'm thinking of driving the 3 hours to come have my birthday dinner at your restaurant!! Everything looks so delicious and its reasonably priced.
This is really cool! i like seeing the new angles from the go pro, it would be awesome if you could blend this type of video shooting with the normal type of videos you post. you get to see all of the different angles of how you create all of these awesome things.
Very angles, much dynamic, such detail, wow! I dunno if the GoPro would lend itself to "quieter" videos (the "let's roll some sushis" ones), but for decorations, it's fun to watch all the angles :)
Great video! I like how you subtle advertise a product and not just smack it in the viewers' faces! Keep on the good work. :D
Nicely done! Great new angles with new cameras!Definitely do more like this video.I know you like to use zip plastic bags for your bamboo rolling mat.For faster rolling and easy rolling of sushi you can use a vacuum sealer and seal the plastic bag and bamboo mat.Keep up the creative videos!
this is my favorite animal
Me encantó realmente, muy creativo, ¡y todo con solo un pepino y un cuchillo! Saludos desde Argentina.
Fkrk
I love how you r always super creative when... Making... Whatever you make... I think u understand. Keep making bids like this! I subbed!
Vids*. Sorry for the typo
Meu irmão aqui no Brasil estamos aprendendo com você. QUE DEUS TE ABENÇOE
Thank you Esparta and your brother!
That's a great idea for misou Soup! Just imagine that in shallow bowl with soup around it. That would just look awesome!
someone is extremely happy with his GoPro
Yes Mr.Burns I am :D
Superbe ! Avec votre couteau, vous êtes comme un peintre avec son pinceau
And now I'll be making a cucumber whale for no real reason at some point in the near future lol. Great video :)
I like it without goPro. In a view situations it can be useful to use it (to see it better) but in generally i like it to see you! :)
Thank you for so many awesome videos!
Thanks Thorsten!
I agree they work awesome outdoors and for some shots where my other cameras simply cannot go like under water.
I think I will use them more for special shots and outdoors situations.
I just tried this today, it was super-easy and looks really sweet. thanks for the idea! :)
Your good at this I love your videos so much I watch them everyday 🍱🍱🍱🍱🍱
I loved this. I tried but my whales are very deformed lol. I love how you have the drawing up on the left hand corner. I'm was trying for a mini pod to serve but it looked more like a butchered pod lol. Thank you, keep up the good work. I was going to buy a GoPro, but the accessories to get the camera to be mounted are insane. Its like buying an empty tower, but in order to work, you need crap load of stuff.
Your knife control is superb.
great knife skills! can't wait to watch more videos!
*subscribed* :D
lovely!!!! can you do more recipes. thanks.
Thanks for loving my video @betty boop, please take a second to share the video.
I like that during a part you could've cut, you mentioned that the video is being shot with a gopro, bringing the amount of time down.
No whales were harmed in the making of this video :-)
Hahaha, only cucumbers were harmed :)
***** u have such unique talent s plz reply
Thank you Tino! replied :) Tino Budder
***** Oh sorry Roger, so many comments I miss a few from time to time.... any way warm japanese meat dishes, I added it to the suggestion list, I was going to do one soon, was thinking yakitori chicken wings....can't promise anything but at the very least I'm aware of the request.
***** you're welcome
the quality is great!
What camera do you use for the other videos? I love these awesome sushi and garnish videos!
This is awesome. Nice work, luv it
Thanks Pailin!
Both are good in their own ways, the Go-Pro is useful since it's your point of view, and thus makes intricate work easier to understand (according to me).
Would love a combination of both actually.
I think that is the direction I will take in future videos, a hybrid combination of mostly my standard cameras and using the go-pro to capture different view points.
cheers for your feed back
That sounds great! Looking forward seeing how it works out. :)
I see ppl don't like the GoPro much. I think it can be useful for specific angles or situations. You can learn to use it to your advantage. You can mix things up too. Yes, this video was a bit all over the place, but I can't blame you for having fun trying new things. :)
PS: AHHHHH THE BEAAAACH
I really love all your videos. Keep it up. Greetings from the Philippines.
PS
Can you do a Takoyaki tutorial if possible. It's my favorite Japanese street food. Thanks!
I love this! Orca are my favorite animal. Did you record the sound for your video using the GoPro?
GoPro is awesome! So much easier to see what you are doing :) Happy new subscriber!
😍 this is cute. You're so artistic. Love this video and don't mind more of it.
Glad you enjoyed it Ghaida!
I love the go pros used them more:)
Love the Go Pro shots especially underwater effect nice!
I would add that to a tomato soup and it would look like its swimming. It would contrast really nicely with the red soup.
Yes that would be great! Juan Glinton
Very cool. Make more like this
I like how he shows us that he does other things than just make sushi at the end of some videos
you really need to do more video's with go pro i love it
Glad you enjoyed it Lisa!
I like the videography you used here with Go Pro, close up detail. Also, this just may be the first under kitchen sink water video - check with Guiness Book of Records!
Cheers.
You will never be able to do this right on the first try, but boy will he make you feel like he can!
I personally like it better without the go pro's
Yeah, but it's called advertising...
Thanks for letting me know Cecilia!
Optamizm Yes I was given the GoPros to use in my video making, no money though... but I really appreciate that they consider what I do good enough to send me a pair of free GoPros :)
You should have asked for money... But yes, what you do is good enough...
Optamizm maybe next time :)
I know why I love your videos ^w^
Too creative ! both on using the GoPro and the garnish. good job on another awesome vid ! :) But.. I personally think the GoPro comes in handly when recording garnishes that requires precise/ always-rotating-around steps. I hope that makes sense. heee
&&lmao @ the end.
Glad you liked it Eunice! Yes makes perfect sense :)
Thank you for the feed back.
Super great! Really funny and inspiring!!
Thanks for this and all other great videos you have in your channel. I am big fan.
At first I thought the new camera to be really weird, but I guess you can use it sometimes for nice, interesting effects (like the under-water cucumber shot). However, I would personally prefer you not overdoing it and rather shooting large parts of your clips in your "old" style.
I love your videos and I also really like the quality of the gopro, but shill much?
Thanks Aaren! Glad you enjoyed it. What do you mean shill?¿
Perfect for my school project
Hello Dina I'm glad you can use it for your school project, also please take a second to share the video it really helps me thanks.
That whale looks adorable. EEKK
Thank you Hope!
ohh my god Ann I love your videos so much and I wish that I can be talented as you
Carve a vegetable Santa for Christmas I'm sure you could with your amazing skills
Awesome whale!!! Love it! GoPro made it a bit difficult to actually see what you were doing though but great job nonetheless!
love the gopro film
wow.. great vid!!
So creative!
Fantastic tutorial :) just make the background music "background" I am definitely going to try the whale
Davy, I have to say that the distortion from the go-pro was seriously distracting. I've been looking forward to this tutorial but the go-pro's distortion ruined it for me.
Great job, just wanted to ask if I do it in advance can it last about 1 week?
maaaaaaaaaan ! if i could like it twice i would !
Sorry Dude but we never got passed "washing the cucumber", We'er still laughing....I most definitely gave a "Thumbs UP" !!!
Keep on doing vids like this
Nicely done
I love the whale, wasn't so keen on the fish eye effect on the wide camera shots. The under water bit was fun, perhaps mix a bit of GoPro in but mainly use your other camera.
It's interesting that so many people said that using the GoPro ruined this video for them. I think it's an interesting perspective on a "cooking" video -- especially when you consider that the camera is filming from the perspective that you would be looking if you were trying to make this. I'd think that it would actually help people who want to make this, but that's just my opinion.
IN CASE YOU HAVEN'T NOTICED, this was filmed with a GoPro.
I like both :)
GoPros are great for biking, skydiving, surfing or even airsofting, but it just prevents me from enjoying this video. Looks like the Blair Witch of Sushi recipes :p
Imho it can work for some close-ups on the carvings and that kind of stuff, but the entire video in a go-pro is a no-go for me.
19999% agree
Lol whats the actual problem? As long as everything is perfectly visible, why u complain?
Bla Blub ??? I was not complaining. Chef Davy asked our opinion on the GoPro shots, we let him know what think
Agree. I would say that it not even a receipe video but a flagrant advertising for Gopro. wonder how many of the camera have actually been paid
Yah go pro tends to fisheye a bit
I like both styles of videos but I do miss the traditional angles of your previous videos, so maybe a combination of both (gopro shots for detail)
Beautiful
More of the go pro! :3
The Go Pro was a cool way to film. I like the other way a lot but a few with the Go Pro would be fun. :)
Very cool video.
Too technical, but it looks really good :)
new sub here... looks great!
This is great with the go pro
just a question i have a miyabi 600D chef's knife and i don't know what kind of howning steel i should use... could you recommend something? Or which one do you use? Thx in advance
I love the whale, the go pro not so much. Also I would love to see how to do that wasabi flower :)
Thanks Jane! the wasabi flower is surprisingly simple to make, I'll make a video one day... but just for you now:
You take some fake wasabi powered and add water to get a consistency that's malleable, then roll it in the a ball and take a knife, press the tip of the blade flat in to the ball starting with the outer petals first and moving in gradually once each ring is complete. That is basically it and it makes for a very beautiful presentable way to display your wasabi.
Yeah I pretty much deduced it, but I like to watch you do it, it´s kinda relaxing :) I always love your garnishes, it takes the food to the next level :)
LuckyJane1 will see If I can get a quick little video of this made for you soon
Really making the most of the go pro lol.
him cutting towards himself makes me cringe because thats how i cut my finger and im still trying to get fellings back in it . it makes me freak out but i love his videos
NellyBell I'm sorry that you're a careless cook.
Christopher Haugen no need for the sass
NellyBell And his knives are sharper o.O
m
+aim - Games & PHOTOGRAPHY a sharper knife is a safer knife. You have more control.
amazing
Thank you mr.yellowOctopus :)
are you going to make a whale garnish to decorate your food?
I would love to see more GoPro videos!
Marry me Davy XD I love this GoPro thing.
Hey, Can you recommend a overall vegetable chopping knife?
nice use of the camara's ! love it! keep doing it often.
***** Me encantaría que hagas un vídeo en español, tengo entendido que vivís en España, seria genial!. P.D.: Me encantas tus videos, gracias a ellos aprendí mucho gracias!
Awesome! How can you create it!
what japanese people do for a garnish.........Respect
Dude... You wouldn't believe what else they do. And they do it sometimes at so high speed, it looks like a samurai had gone nuts on vegetables, doing a fucking blade spinning berserk attacks on poor vegetables, fruits and fish...
scott dang I'm Japanese but I've never seen this in Japan.
sanchaofgo To be honest.... I only saw that in only 3 Restaurants. 2 where in Japan. One was in Okinawa and the other in Hokkaido. It was a show thing.
Do more!!!
I think I will be using the GoPro in future films but to only get dynamic shots that my other cameras have difficulty capturing, rather than filming it all on GoPro.
I prefer the style you used before, with a more traditional view. It goes better with the traditional subject of sushi.
the go-pros kinda bother my eyes... it distracts and the footage is shaky... keep the old method
