TOTALLY digging your channel. I want more. I'm hiking the JMT in August and have been sharing your channel on several FB groups I'm on to help spread the word. You deserve more followers. Keep up the great work !
aw thank you so much!! I love making these videos, so I'm always happy to hear people are enjoying them! I've only hiked part of the JMT, but it was awesome and left me wanting more! I hope your trip is incredible!
I love this video! I am in love with oatmeal (I eat it daily), and my fiance and I want to start backpacking together when we get married in October. I’m so thrilled that oatmeal is such a backpacking-friendly food. That peanut butter and dark chocolate one looked amazing. Thanks for making this video!
@@amanda.outside We live in Ohio so we will probably start closer to home. There's a trail near us called the Zaleski State Forest Backpack Trail that we may try first. I'm really hoping to get out west someday, though, when we have more experience and know what we are doing! I love the parks in Utah and Colorado and the surrounding states out there.
@@evelynjenkins9204 that's awesome! I think it's a great idea to start in an area close to home that you're familiar with and then branch out from there! I'm so excited for you!
Excellent recipes. Not a cold soak like u searched for but I do 50/50 so for a hot breakfast it's awesome. I'll try to figure out a more trash friendly option. Well done
Amanda, thanks for your video. “Quick” oatmeal has high glycemic index, bad for type 1 diabetics, suggest “slow cook” oats. Same outcome, better G.I. Helps regulate blood sugar readings.
I do use reusable bags for the oatmeal now! I discovered them after I filmed this video, but the ones I really like for backpacking oatmeal are by the brand ReZip. You can get them at target and amazon! I've linked to them in a few of my more recent video descriptions! 😁
Pro tip: don't pour your oatmeal directly into the cup. Leave it in the bag and place the entire bag in the cup, pour the water into the bag and eat it directly from the bag = zero scrubbing!
i love it so much , now I know the right way to pack trail oatmeal
Great idea, and delicious. I Will make it when hiking. 👍💪❤️

Also: nut butters transport and way cheaper in silicone carriers. Discourage single use baggies, despite convenience. Buy nut butters in bulk.
Love your channel! These sound great! Going to try these for sure.
Can’t wait to take these recipes with me on my next backpacking trip. Thank you for sharing! Great video.

How many tablespoon(s) of powdered peanut butter would you use as a substitute?
Thank you Amanda for sharing your ideas, they are amazing! Just curious is there not a reusable baggie that would work for these oatmeal breakfasts?

Yeah dude, it saves time
Except hot water will lee h harmful chemicals from almost any plastic except silicone. Then you wake up at 60 with cancer and don’t know why
I was going to ask this, can you just cook it all in the baggy?
Where did you get the little reusable bag?
They're from a brand called re-zip! I really like them for hiking and backpacking snacks.
Thank you!
😊👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😋😋
we dont have a trader joes here :(
