    Great video as always, Matt! May you please reveal some details about link building for this case? I mean, how many emails were sent, how many links were acquired, how much time it took, how many of them have asked for money?

    • @iamtstamps
      @iamtstamps Рік тому

      Link building this way takes time, think hours. Matt has a team, so I'm sure this gets done in record time. I did link building for a small client's blog and found that most wanted to get paid for mentions and links on their high-authority sites. You have to pay to play sometimes. The alternative is answering hella inquiries from HARO (Help A Reporter Out). I started with the free method using HARO then started doing Link building outreach, which can be very effective if done right if you're making a personal connection.

    • @Bruceylancer
      @Bruceylancer Рік тому

      @@iamtstamps That's my experience exactly. Not even hours, but tens of hours. And most people ask for money of course, even if they answer you (most of the time you are just ignored). So I'm asking myself: is it worth spending so much time on outreach if you have to pay anyway? Wouldn't it be better just to go to agencies that already have a database of websites that just place your links for money, no questions asked?
      What are your thoughts on this? Did you manage to get at least a few ones for free? If yes, how many and how much time/how many emails it took?
      Thanks in advance!

    • @alk3345
      @alk3345 Рік тому

      @@Bruceylancer that's basically what you're doing by doing to an agency. Leveraging their outreach and already formed relationships for a premium price/mark up. Both ways are fine. Either take it in-house and it becomes cheaper but likely more difficult to manage, or take it external where it becomes hands off but for a higher cost. Both ways work (just he sure your agency is actually providing you quality)

    Hey Matt, great video as always. I have one question. If I put one sub topic ("How to compare quotes" in your example) in the pillar article as an H2 and write briefly on it but then link it to a supporting article that has the same topic (How to compare quotes) as an H1 title with a detailed content, will it not confuse Google bot and cause keyword cannibalization? As our article can rank on H2s as well and in this way we will be trying to rank one keyword as an H2 in one article and as an H1 in another?

    • @Noob_X69
      @Noob_X69 Рік тому

      Although I believe it won't cause cannibalization as many factors such as title, meta, and over-all tone of article will come in play. But you can still avoid it by optimising H2 in pillar page, means by using similar synonyms and then link that support article with pillar page.

    Hey Matt! Quick question about your "commercial" intent for the power hub. Do you consider a Shopify collection as that type of hub? Where you would have commercial/transactional intent, with blog post at the bottom?
    If yes, aren't you worried users might leave the funnel to go read instead of buying?
    Thanks !

    Usually in the key takeaways section I'll turn the bullet points into anchor text and link to the appropriate section in the article using keywords as the anchor. I don't usually make it a TL;DR but a summary of what they'll learn or an index depending on the article. I'm curious about your suggestion as to placement of this section. Should it be above the fold in general, or immediately at the beginning? Your thoughts on this would be helpful. Thanks Matt!

    • @iamtstamps
      @iamtstamps Рік тому +2

      I'm not Matt, but from experience, I've received Google Snippets placing the "Key Takeaways" or "Answer Paragraphs" at the top of the page. Think about the user. They want a quick answer to their query or quick takeaways at the beginning to justify if they should read the whole article to find out more. Then you have to realize that most people, with an attention span of 2 secs, won't read the whole article but skim through the heading and get just of the post.

    Awesome Matt! Question about linking from Pillar article to informational articles. If we have 100-200+ informational articles in our power hub...It doesn't seem feasible to link to all of those in our pillar article. Suggestions on what to do in that situation?

    • @tr1stu5
      @tr1stu5 Рік тому +1

      If you link to a selection of informational articles (maybe the most important ones?) from your pillar article, you should be fine (as long as all your informational articles are interlinked together in some way). Google will be able to pick up that these 100-200 articles are part of that hub through the interlinking strategy.

    • @davainwalker9549
      @davainwalker9549 Рік тому +1

      The goal is to make the pillar the content that is most valuable to you.
      If you run a blog then you might want your pillar post to be the main informational search like “how to fix a car”.
      If you sell a product/service then you want to focus on your top buyer keyword like “car mechanic service” instead.
