24:53 hate to break it to you, but while Fauna’s name is deer-based, female deer are actually called does. What her name is referring to are baby deer (also called fawns), and the fact that Fauna has spots in the back of her head matches this as well (young fawns have spots on their backs, and they lose these spots as they grow older and gain their adult coloring)

51:56 Rizzo is actually based on something huge! There’s a famous Japanese thief who can be compared to Robinhood. He wore the exact same scarf/face covering as Rizzo! The thief’s name is actually Nezumi Kozō which translates to mouse. He’s one of those characters with a super cool origin only those in Japan would be familiar with.

27:00 Also the catchphrase "mon chou" while literally translated is my cabbage in French, is actually a common term of endearment/belittling kiddy pet name similarly to how we call people cutie pie, pumpkin or munchkin (belittling may be extreme but you get what I mean, you call kids cute little names but if you call a fellow peer that it’s more of a "sit down the adults are talking" kindof name calling, or you’re just being cheesy with your partner lol). So that may be his catchphrase because he’s a super manly man who looks down to you because you’re just a kid in his eyes

I don't know if anyone's already pointed this out but
With Chester's japanese name panta, it could be a reference to pantomime, and he does look like he's wearing mime makeup

I'll talk about the new and returning villagers since this video:
Ace: A flying ace, might also be from "ace of spades" since his shirt had a spade symbol on it originally. Plus it sounds like a name for a jock.
Azalea: She's named after flowers in every language, usually Azalea or Petunia.
    Cephalobot: Cephalopod robot
    Chabwick: Unsure
    Chai: Chai tea
    Chelsea: Unsure
Étoile: French for "star" since she's based on Little Twin Stars
    Faith: Unsure
Frett: From "fret", to worry. He used to be known as Champagne, which is his Japanese name. I'm sure they gave him a different English name because alcohol.
Ione: "Violet flower" or a nymph from Greek Mythology, most of her foreign names come from space.
    Marlo: Marlon Brando
    Marty: Unsure
    Petri: Petri dish
    Quinn: Unsure
    Rilla: GoRILLA
Rio: From Rio de Janeiro, which is known for carnivals.
Roswell: From Roswell New Mexico, known for its supposed UFO crash.
    Sasha: "Defender", unsure why
Shino: Might mean "bamboo" or comes from her Japanese name, よしの/Yoshino, which might mean "good luck", "aromatic field", or "beautiful field". Also sounds like "shika" which means "deer" and "noh" which is a theatre genre.
Tiansheng: From 齐天大圣/Qí Tiān Dà Shèng, a title that Sun Wukong had, and meaning "Great Sage, Equal to Heaven"
Toby: I guess it sounds kind of like "Kerokerokeroppi"
    Zoe: Unsure

Maggie's likely named after pearls because of the phrase "pearls before swine", the same thing Spoink and Grumpig are based on.
Also, 'rhon' does _not_ mean spear in Welsh- it doesn't mean anything. Spear is 'bêr', 'gwaywffon', or 'picell'. The name Rhonda comes from the Rhondda Valley, an area in South Wales itself named after the river it surrounds. Rhondda _may_ come from the Welsh words for 'recite', as in, the recital of the river, but no one's sure. It definitely doesn't come from spear, tho. In _Gaelic,_ on the other hand, it _does_ seem to mean 'good spear'. Just... not Welsh, as you said (although I think mistakes can be forgiven in a one-hour video, tbf)
