    Preparations to make:
    1.Soak Pongal Rice 1 cup and moong dal 3/4 cup for khara pongal.
    2.Soak Pongal rice 1 cup and 1 tsp oong dal for sweet pongal
    3.Soak tamatid for sambar
    4.Cut all vegetables for sambar and poriyal
    5.Soak urad dal atleast 1 hourto make vada.
    Ingredients to make Khara pongal :
    Pongal rice -1ucp
    Moong Dal -1/2 cup
    Ghee -3 tbsp
    Cashes and Rasins -some
    Cumin seeds -1/2 tsp
    Curry leaves -some
    Black pepper corns -some
    Salt -as per taste
    Water -1:2
    Ingredients to make Sweet Pongal
    Pongal rice -1 cup
    Moong dal -1 tsp optional
    Jaggery -1cup
    Milk -1 cup
    Water - cup
    Cardamom -3 to 4
    Ghee -3 tbsp
    Cashews and rasins -some
    Ingredients to make Sambar :
    Vegetables -Carrot,brinjal,Chayote (chow chow)
    Tamarind pul p-1/2 cup
    Toovar Dal -1 cup
    Water -to cook
    Oil -3 tsp
    Coriander leaves -some
    Curry leaves -some
    Onion -1
    Tomato -1
    Mustard seeds -some
    Cumin seeds -some
    Fenugrek seeds -some
    Sambar vadagam -for seasoning optional
    Asafoetida -some
    Salt -to taste
    Sambar powder -2 tsp
    Turmeric powder 1 tsp
    Oil -4 tbsp
    Ingredients to make Poriyal:
    Cabbage -1 cup
    Carrot -1 cup grated
    Oil -4 tbsp
    Mustard seeds -1/2 tsp
    Onion -1
    Curry leaves -some
    Green chili -2
    Salt-for taste
    Coconut grated -4 tbsp
    Ingredients to make Urad vada :
    Urad dal -1 cup soaked for 2 hrs atleast
    Onion -1
    Salt-to taste
    Coriander leaves -some
