- It's been a while since I've worn these old Pekka Rinne one piece skates and since I've completely used and abused my True TF9 skates it's time to see if I'll be moving back into the one piece skates full time

My one piece skates are probably one of my favorite pieces of my equipment.
I just wish that the blade holder was more durable.
There is absolutely no better feeling skate, in my opinion.
Cool to hear you are going back to the one piece again!
Yep!! Considering getting a new pair after going back to them. And yeah I agree that there’s no better feeling. No other skate like it
Ford Ice was one of the nicest rinks I’ve been to in a while. Was up there for a tournament 2 years ago and was really impressed by the facility
Yeah they’re both awesome!! Still relatively new but it was so cool to see them open up
I have the previous version of this skate when it was still VH. It's still holding up great and I agree with with you on the thicker steel. I also love the lower profile and neutral pitch. It reminds me of when I wore Grafs. I do wish they had a bit more forward flex to them. I might have to try taking a hole lace off.
You sold me 2 years ago on the one piece skate. Was definitely awkward at first coming from a 1X being a lot more neutral and lower to the ice. But the control and comfort was on another planet. Hate u for selling me on these one piece skates I’ll never buy another pair of skates ever again
Hahaha I love that. It takes a bit to get used to but like I’ve said before, there’s no other skate like it. Glad you’re still loving yours!!
I need a how to goalie session. Let's get it on the books.
Hahaha SO down
Love that rink, just played my first game ever there last week.
First game ever!!? That’s awesome!! But yeah that rink rules
@@BonesyTV Yessir, jumped in to sub for a friend's team, just started learning a few months ago. Learned a lot from your channel!
Still rocking on Bauer Total One NXG :D Just love them. I tried Bauer 3s Pro but somehow I got my hands on "NEW! Total One NXG and switched back
Nice!!! I used to have those too 😂 I’d have a hard time passing up a new set if I saw them
@@BonesyTV I was just looking for cowlings in a FB group for goalie gear and a dude sent me a message that he has a new pair of nxgs for just 100€. ofcourse I had to say yes! old but gold 😁
I’m in Graf Goaler Pros with Bauer cowlings and am finally looking to upgrade my skates but I’m 50 with a bum hip. Not sure if high-end or custom skates will really help or just cost a lot.
Switched over from the 2 piece recently. Still figuring the one piece out. It's a totally different boot, a little heavier, but once I get the hollow and how tight to lace them up dialed in, I think they'll be golden.
They’re unlike any other skate I’ve ever used. Definitely gotta go less sharp that normal, I’ve been trying different lace styles (you can see in the video how I do it now) but skipping the top eyelid gives a bit more ankle mobility, and they’re on the heavier side for sure
Loved my 1 pieces until the blade holders came apart. Both of them started disintegrating at the same time. Lots of chatter and vibration. The boot is SO comfy. Went to the E-Flex 6 2-piece. Loving them so far. We need to get you out to FIC Clarksville for a skate some time.
Man I’m SO down!! I’ve been out there a couple times. Awesome rink. Just a bit of a hike for me.
how many holes do you leave undone from the top? im currently at 1 but after watching bobrovsky I may try 2 holes from top like he does.
Dang the gimbal is shockingly smooth! Really looks like someone is operating the camera.
Right!? Still dialing it in but I’m hooting to get some great footage with it
My son won a championship in a shootout in the jr preds tournament there a few years back. AMAZING rink. I love Nashville!
That’s awesome!! Glad you guys had a good time. Pretty happy to have that rink here too
Bonsey I'm still wearing my Bauer Reactor 5 skates with old-school white cowlings I bought back in the 1900s. !999 to be exact.
That’s actually pretty crazy. How many times have you replaced the steel!?
The noise when stopping is a big reason I went to a 2 piece true (that and the chipping in the holder)
Man I’m glad I’m not the only one with that noise. I’m curious if the newer one piece solves that
Looking at some of the new versions of the true one piece skates compared to the ones you have now do you think there are many differences or are they all generally the same?
I can't really say much about the new version. I'd say they upgraded them quite a bit but I've never tried them before
I have custom one pieces. Had 2 pairs of custom 2 piece skates, one wth true holder and one with the ccm holder (sat similar to the one piece) but sold them both and i went back to my one piece skates and ordered the updated one oiece skates. I felt more connected to my skate and i felt the 2 piece had too much flex for my liming. One piece for life.
Man the connection is insane with the one piece. I tell people that there’s no other skate like it. Honestly thinking about going in on a new pair soon
@@BonesyTV the new svh one pieces are 🤌🤌. The new pro goalie tongue is great. I ordered mine with the impact protection which adds 2 layers of carbon to the skate. Alittle heavier but will take more of a beating. I also am trying the goalie sam profile for the first time this week.
Oh dude!! You gotta let me know how that goes! At this point you gotta just make a review video of your own! 😂
@@BonesyTV not enough time. I work full time and have 2 part time jobs. With hockey and my project I don't have much time
The chatter usually comes from them actually being too sharp. I have them and I went from 3/4 on my 2 piece to 1 inch on the one piece and I’m thinking about going even shallower.
Yeah I might have dial it back. Been at a 1/2 for a while now
I'm curious how the lower sitting one-piece affects your butterfly pushes. I finally replaced my old cowling skates from the 2000s and went to a bauer pro so I could away from booting out. I'm now used to them, but definitely not as stable and precise on my feet. Considering going to a one-piece so as to get lower to the ice and a 4mm blade back. Thoughts?
The lower sitting, neutral pitch, and thicker blade will definitely feel similar to those cowling skates but the one piece construction is a totally different feel compared to any skate out there. If you feel like you prefer that over the newer style I’d say go for it!
In your opinion what is the best sharpening for the one piece skates.
I’ve settled on a 1/2 but I had to build up to it a bit
How do they conpare to the Lange skates?!
Hahaha totally different world 😂
What edge do you use on your true one piece?
I then sharpened at 1/2
Love it!
Why not try the 4mm blade in the 2 piece skate? I think they make that .
I think they do? But we’ll see if I try that out. Right now I’m just using what I have on hand
Curious about your feelings on the 3mm to the 4mm blades??
I have a hard time using 3mm.
Do you feel a major difference?
Always get mine half size bigger anyways
Yeah?? Do you like the extra room?
I was told by the true rep, the 1 piece is best. Your foot fills the entire boot and has like 95% of your foot touching the boot cavity vs standard skates. Your energy transfer is second to none. Go with a shallow hollow. Not a traditional 1/2" or 3/8". Of course, im still rockin' a 2 piece Bauer pro. Lol
Man that energy transfer is noticeable right away too
Graf goalie skates, with cowling (550, 5500, 7500)…
Last longer than True…cowling last longer and you can still order blades and cowlings…..
Some companies don’t make quality, as they want you to buy more shit
Long live the cowlings!! I’d rock a set of clown shoes again in a heartbeat
@@BonesyTV - carry price used Trues and Graf cowlings..make sense to me, but do my own shit..and use only 4mm
One piece are better but hard to find replacement steel.
Yeah it’s just so different from everything else
@@BonesyTVwhat size pants and chest do you wear?
I don’t care for split screen videos. Very distracting.
Yeah? Good to know. Might try doing some more subtle split screen stuff.
