Fire Bomber American is a really unsubtle jab at Robotech, since it was when Harmony Gold started ignoring the origins of Robotech but started making things ridiculously difficult for Studio NUE when exporting the franchise. Was one of the reasons the Hollywood Macross movie never happened, iirc, and HG was trying to get all their spin offs going.
