Robbie Dale on the Wall | A short film by Alex Ayre

In 2021, the wall of a chip shop in Northumberland was transformed forever in tribute to a local legend. This short documentary chronicles the painting of a mural for Blyth Spartans footballer Robbie Dale - the first of its kind to ever be produced for a non-league player. Through contributions from the local community and his footballing peers, we explore public adoration towards Robbie and his skills, which are unparalleled in grass roots football.
Alex Ayre is an award-winning documentary filmmaker from Northumberland. Ayre has received a Royal Television Society Award and gained recognition from Channel 4’s Random Acts and BBC Fresh. His documentary films usually touch on the themes of ageing, locality, and fame in a small community setting.
