EP54: Australia's Capital, Canberra! | Parliament House, War Memorial, Royal Mint | Lap of Australia

- This week, we head towards the ACT and the Capital of Australia…. Canberra! Neither of us have really visited Canberra before so we were excited to finally get some time to explore an important part of Australia.
We first try to visit Parliament House, but were surprised to be caught up in a huge protest which unfortunately closed Parliament House for the day. Instead we decided to visit the National Museum of Australia, then later in the afternoon visit the stunning Australian War Memorial to watch the last post.
After a couple of few days we tried to visit Parliament House again and finally they had reopened their doors for visitors to explore. After a fantastic few days it was time to pack up and keep moving towards the Victorian border.
We are Hannah, Chris and dog Archie, setting off on a 12(ish) month trip around Australia - our BIG Staycation, with the whole of Australia as our backyard! We've quit our jobs, rented the house and gone from never towing a caravan, to touring the country full time with one! We're learning as we go! / staycationoz

I just found your channel and watched this video. Thank you for taking me with you to some places i have been to and bringing back so many memories.
Most impressive to me was the War Memorial. I attendend the last post ceremony that still makes me think today. I had strange - somehow guilty - feelings as a german whos grand-grandparents had sparked two worldwars.
The parliament building. I remember me walking up the stairs, walking along the gallery showing the former premiers, having a view into the house of representatives same as you and taking the elevator up to the rooftop. Great spot to take photos in the evening light under surveilance of three police officers. All that happened in 2005....

Lovely - very interesting content and some dramatic moments - especially the 'Last Post'. As you say on screen, Canberra looks to be a fascinating location to visit. There must be at least one episode still to come before the triumphal return to Melbourne - I hope so !

Great to see you posted this episode disappointed thought we weren’t going to see it through the completion of your trip. Have really enjoyed following your travels. Love you friendly honest approach and the freshness. I admire your dedication to putting out each episode as it takes a huge effort. Are you planning a trip summary at the end? Will we be seeing more of your travels or do we have to wait until another big adventure?
Thanks so much! We still have a few episodes to come which will show the end of the trip and we’ll do a trip summary as well! We plan on doing the odd weekend away here and there and hope to kelp pulling together videos around Victoria!
