"Anoana" by Heilung is a song that speaks to the strength of faith, love and hope. It celebrates our connection with each other and the power of community, and calls us to come together and to be present in moments of joy. The lyrics describe a ritualistic chant in which the singer urges us to stay true to ourselves, to be bold and fearless in our actions, and to live a life of free expression. The chanting of "Anoana tuwa tuwa" is repeated throughout the song, and is meant to signify the union of faith and love we share as a collective. It is an anoana, a call that binds us together and encourages us to find unity within ourselves and in our relationships with each other.
I've been listening to Anoana with my 2 year old daughter for the last month or so, she non-stop asks for it on repeat and I have always felt a certain way in regards to the lyrics, english only speaker, and reading your comment brought me to tears because the meaning was so obvious in my heart. Thank you so very much for sharing the meaning of the song and it's lyrics and chants. Incredible!
Have you found a translation of this song? I saw an interview with Maria Franz saying these lyrics came from old coins and amulets, but they didn’t know what they meant. They only knew one word, “landawariarja,” meaning “protector of the land.” I’d be interested if anyone has had any luck translating it!
@@Liska78 That is the same information our wonderful viewers have shared with us about the language. So, we must translate it with our feelings, I suppose.
Heilung is Life changing. Anoana "guardian spirit" someone born under the right conditions who serves as an ambassador to this realm and the realms of nature and spirit.
Anoana was a very powerful Shaman, born during an eclipse (note the antler buttons on the infant). This is probably set in the beginnings of the Germanic Iron Age (5th - 1st Century BC). The language is as close to ancient Germanic/Gothic as can be expected.
Im 78 and nice to see older people like Heilung I've been a fan for a few years and got to see them live last year and it was a great experience They are coming back to the US next year maybe you guys could go see them.seeing them live is definitely a bucket list must
Thank you for the reaction! :) Basically this video is loosely based on European folklore. The "lyrics" are runes from coins during the "Migration Period" of Europe. (300-700ish C.E.) The lead vocalist stated that (to paraphrase her) translation was difficult. Only one could be more-or-less, reasonably determined. "LANDAWARIAR"...or loosely "Guardian of the land". (spoken around 2 or 3 times during the song) Heilung means "healing" in German, and is comprised of Danish, Norwegian and German performers. :)
Heilung are so special, even if you can’t understand the words you can feel the unbridled power behind them nonetheless. This video and song always makes me teary eyed, especially the buildup to the ending for some reason.

Heilung are an experience. Their music (as has been explained before) is rooted in historical finds of primarily Nordic culture - Krigsgaldr / the lyrics to it stem from the Eggja runestoine found in Norway, for instance, and the songs Hamrer Hippyer and Traust are the Merseburg Charms. It is historical, but not only. It's part of the ancient Norse Religion, which is STILL alive today. As far as suggestions. Anything of theirs!! And another similar group Wardruna.
This song is about something we think is a guardian spirit of sorts called Anoana or similar, and the lyrics is the exact text we find on coins similar to the one showed in the video, called bracteates, which were more of a spiritual purpose and not for trade -- problem is we dont really know what it says, since we dont even know if that are words -- WE used to use abbreviations in SMS due to limited space/costs, in medieval times scribes did too, 1000 years before that in roman inscriptions too, so would it be farfetched to think they might've too to fit a whole poem on a small coin? we just do not have any clues about what were common ways to abbreviate things, we do know for medieval manuscripts and roman epitaphs since they had to teach their students that stuff and this material survived, but we have none of that for this day 'n age ...
When Heilung have live show somewhere near to you, just go to see them! If you liked this, the live show will absolutelly blow you away! I've seen them last year and I HAVE TO see them again... The music is awesome, visuals of the video too, but you cannot simply capture the atmosphere and energy on the video... Trust me, you cannot. After their concert I watched some of their videos on UA-cam and althought it is beutiful, it's nothing compare to actually being there and see them perform live. And you said, that you'd like to see lyrics to know what's the song about... Well, to be honest, when I was on their concert, I didn't understand a single word, but the meaning just naturally came from the the energy, atmosphere, lights and mostly from what was happening on stage. It's like theater... they have a lot of "dancers" and musicians and they perform different dances and rituals. I've been to many concerts. I enjoy rock and metal music a lot, which Heilung is not (they couldn't be further from metal), but their concert I put to the TOP 3 shows I've ever been to, no doubt. In my top 3 list there are also live shows of Nightwish and Tool... All 3 of these bands are so different and I cannot tell which one of them is better, so they just sit all together on the very top of my list of the best concerts :)
Not sure if English lyrics are available for any of their songs, being sung in a reconstructed dead language. If you want to hear more from them it's hard to go wrong with any of the songs from their Lifa show. Krigsgaldr even has some English lyrics. They have a completely different feel with live performances. A similar band, if you don't mind some throat singing, would be Nytt Land. U-Gra from Live Ritual is a favorite of mine.

Heilung's ritual has brought a peace to many people, from all cultures. This peace, can never be taken away in a world that tries so hard to destroy that peace. You might like it. Thank You for sharing your thoughts. D. Frostproof,FL.
The lyrics for this piece are mainly taken from bracteates: golden, circular coins or amulets found in Northern Europe that date from the 4th to 7th centuries CE. They are often fitted with a decorated rim and loop, which indicates that they were meant to be worn and perhaps provide protection, fulfil wishes or for divination. The bracteates feature a very significant iconography influenced by Roman coinage. They were predominantly made from Roman gold, which was given to the North Germanic peoples as peace money.
Hi, new to your channel. If you enjoyed Heilung, you e GOT to hear Wardruna! They produced a lot of music for the Vikings series, but I simply found them on you tube. I recommend starting with Viking Suite by Einar Selvik and Trevor Morris, then take a look at Lyfjaberg (Healing Mountain) Official music video. I think you will enjoy it thoroughly!
Their focus is ancient, well pre Viking age Scandinavian culture. Using authentic instruments combined with modern .. if that helps! Also, if you want to go down that path, Eluveitie are a Swiss band mostly focused on telling the story of the Gaulish people, decimated by the Roman Empire's push through Europe, telling stories from the side of the losers. Some of their songs are sun in Helvetian, the language that was spoke in their home area but has been dead for 2000 years, with the help of linguistic professors. Some of their stuff is harsh blast beat, but the official vids for Omnos or Inis Mona should be quite a pleasant intro to them :)

Just curious, cuz Tennessee is such a loooong state.... I've never been west of Nashville and honestly I almost think of western TN as a whole other state lol... ;P
To explain a little where you can classify "Heilung"( it means "Healing"): The music of Heilung should make "sounds and sounds of bygone times" come alive again and bring you in contact with your "inner healed self". This is not only limited to the music, but also to the poems contained. The languages used are diverse: from German and English to Gothic and Latin to proto-Norse. As a further stylistic device, the band members wear elaborately designed traditional costumes on stage. They are partly based on the "spiritual traditions of the Eurasian circumpolar peoples" or reproduce historically correct images of Viking Age clothing. Heilung describe their music as "amplified history". You can take that literally. On the stage of the German-Danish collective you will find human bones converted into instruments, ancient drums, bronze rings and sometimes entire armies armed with shields and swords based on the material of the Iron and Viking Age. Because some Misguided see music about ancient times and the use of Nordic symbolism as an invitation to missionary, nationalistic and right-wing extremist ideas, Heilung emphasizes that their art is independent of modern political and religious systems. Any attempt to make a connection is "pointless" as Heilung "tries to connect the listener to the time before Christianity and its political offspring raped and burned their way into the Northern European mentality."
The language that they use for their songs are so old some of the words we have today is not there. Fun fact it's because of this band I started to learn old norse
Its Heilungs interpretation from a coin the band came across, with inscriptions saying something close to this Landa Warrior Anoana " warrior of the land ". This is their view and it is the lead female singers favorite song. and when you sea how the mother is singing to Anoana, listening to the beat and rhythm it is believed by some that it is a lullaby. if you would like a referance here are the links of the band them selves explaining it better than me. they explain so much better i butchered it so here you are and please i beg you and who ever reads this... Please see them live. its life changing. ua-cam.com/video/dlp_ksxQpbY/v-deo.html

Thank you for watching and sharing this very interesting information.
Thank you for watching and for sharing with us about your awesome concert experience.
I was lucky enough to score tickets yesterday for October ❤
@@xephrenata enjoy! It will be a ride! :)
@@xephrenataI got tickets for their show in Clearwater FL in October 😊
Not sure if English lyrics are available for any of their songs, being sung in a reconstructed dead language. If you want to hear more from them it's hard to go wrong with any of the songs from their Lifa show. Krigsgaldr even has some English lyrics. They have a completely different feel with live performances.
A similar band, if you don't mind some throat singing, would be Nytt Land. U-Gra from Live Ritual is a favorite of mine.
Thank you for watching and for these suggestions. We have added them to our list.
Great song! You seem like cool dudes.
But I'd love to hear some more talk after. What did you feel? What did you think, etc.

If I'm remembering correctly, this is supposedly a lullaby. Whatever it is, this song makes me think about my daughter when I hear it and I love it.

Heilung's ritual has brought a peace to many people, from all cultures.
This peace, can never be taken away in a world that tries so hard to destroy that peace.
Heilung once said that they don't fans, They have brothers and sisters of the ritual.
This is one of the best reviews I've seen yet.
Might I suggest a ritual called "Narupo" (SP) also from Heilung? You might like it.

@@grandparentsreact wonderful! You’re gonna love it!
Thank you for this interesting information.

Thank you for these suggestions. We have added them to our list.
Thank you for watching and for this information. We have added your suggestions to our list.

To explain a little where you can classify "Heilung"( it means "Healing"):
The music of Heilung should make "sounds and sounds of bygone times" come alive again and bring you in contact with your "inner healed self".
On the stage of the German-Danish collective you will find
human bones converted into instruments, ancient drums, bronze rings and sometimes entire armies armed with shields and swords based
on the material of the Iron and Viking Age.
Because some Misguided see music about ancient times and the use of Nordic symbolism as an invitation to missionary, nationalistic
and right-wing extremist ideas, Heilung emphasizes that their art is independent of modern political and religious systems. Any attempt to
make a connection is "pointless" as Heilung "tries to connect the listener to the time before Christianity and its political offspring
raped and burned their way into the Northern European mentality."

Ashill's realm, power has been inherited; high power
Riches are divided, over the land of fires
Ashill's realm, power has been lost; ancestral lordship
Riches are divided, over the land of fires
Powerful lands, over the land of fires
The great land of power, over the land of fires
Powerful lands, over the land of fires
The great land of power, over the land of fires
On horseback, over the land of waters
On horseback, over the seas
Sun's ray, over the sky's cloud
Sky's great light, over the Earth's expanse
Heaven's high hall, raised on a hill
God's abode, never to crumble
At night, a river flows
A powerful day
comes after night
Sun's fiery wheel brighter than the stars
All night, the day's light
In the east
the sun shines
Before the day's end
And at noon, in the west
The sun sets down
Ashill's realm, power has been inherited; high power
Riches are divided, over the land of fires
Ashill's realm, power has been lost; ancestral lordship
Riches are divided, over the land of fires
Powerful lands, over the land of fires
The great land of power, over the land of fires
Powerful lands, over the land of fires
