    The new TEC bike parts Flank 2-1 slip on exhaust for the Triumph Scrambler 1200 models.
    First fit and fire-up.
    First impression is good, fitting is relativley straight forward even with basic tools. The Retention springs could do to be slightly better quality, I ended up braking one whilst fitting the mid section, so will probably replace all 3 with some better ones, but woudlnt concern me overall.
    Once fitted to the bike and everything nipped up, it looks great the addition of a rubber bung on the end can to deaden the annoying noise from the head-shield is a great move, love that!
    The sound is great, the camera doesnt really do it justice. However I will follow this video up with a proper sound clip and some fly-bys.
    But for the initial aural viewing? I am please with the tone, does sound really sweet and much more tolerable than some of the straight through offerings around, the addition of a removale baffle is one of my requirements for everyday riding.
    My bike isnt decatted and if you were after this slip-on I probably wouldnt fit to an already decatted bike, unless you want an outrageously loud machine, but each to there own.
    I may add some more baflleing, to bring the noise down a little more for greenlaning etc, but for now its acceptable and does sound sweet.
    The overall finish of the Flank 2-1 is decent, all the parts seem good quality, all welded sections are nice, time will tell but im pretty happy with it and does suit the bike I think.
    Overall I really like it, but as a huge fan of the Original 865 Bonneville scramblers with that Iconic arrow pipe, this just reminds me of it so much and even sounds reminiscent.
    Just need to get some riding in with it now.... BRAAAP

    Looks great! Joining the 1200 club in a couple of weeks. What upper crash bar is that? Also are you still on stock gearing? Seem ok for off-road hills?

    At around 5.43 mins, you show the original pipe with the silencers off, I assume you had to grind these off. Looks like it would be pretty simple to make these into the guy martin style shotgun exhaust with some pipe and a bit of welding. To like the Total Triumph setup.

    I wasn’t sure about looks ( as you say, it’s a bit short) but it sounds great.
    What about difference if any to performance? Does the bike breathe any better?

    • @DValdez2321
      @DValdez2321 3 роки тому +1

      I'm not sure it breathes BETTER on the top end (85-100mph)....but if most definitely felt torquier in lower speeds. I currently have the free-spirits decat installed---but i left the baffle in the TEC exhaust. Maybe once removed...it'll feel less winded in the higher speeds?

      @@DValdez2321 Personally, I don't care about the top end.. with the current regulations, top-end speed is a negative.
      I am more concerned with cutting out when idling (i.e. when coming to a junction) and then powering-on when accelerating out of a junction.
      I "love" low-end torque, as most motorcyle-purists miss this, as it encapsulates why diesel vehicles where so awesome (before regs on Nox).. low-end torque is not present, nor accepted in petrol-driven 4-wheeled vehicles, and honestly, for motorbikes, this is where the smile begins.
      When will people realise that true torque/power at low-end revs is where the fun is at?

    • @DValdez2321
      @DValdez2321 2 роки тому

      @@hensola all depends on where you live/how you ride. If you live/ride mostly in the city then yeah...low speed torque is where it's at.
      I'm riding a mix of city/highway/road tripping and I absolutely needed to remove the baffle as it made a HUGE difference in the higher speeds. Especially when you're boys are riding liter sport bikes or massive European touring bikes---baffle gets 86'd.
      Top end speed is never a negative man..

    Hey there! Do you know how much of a difference the sound is to the original system (fully stocked without decat and so on)? I'm really diggin this system but wanna know if it's too loud for Germany 😅
    Thx in advance!

      As comment above, it isn’t that loud on idle, in fact it seems quieter even with decat. Definitely louder than stock when opening her up, but nothing obnoxious.

    Current/Future mods:
    Free-Spirits De-Cat (current)
    DNA HI-FLOW Filter (current)
    NEWLY FITTED (!!!) Tec Flank 2-1 exhaust
    Performance Camshaft (purchased-not installed)
    DNK Tunworks tune----(future).
    Just installed mine last night!!! Like everyone has said....the system could be just a TAD longer---but still looks fantastic. Sound with BAFFLE IN, and De-Cat installed was not loud at all at idle. When you give it the berries, tho....sounds great. Felt a bit choked at approx 95mph, so I may try to run it w/out the baffle next time and see what happens.
    I did the Triumph Tune (let it idle for 15-20min until fan kicks on) before i rode to work this morning.
    *There were some minor fitment issues with the TOP mid-pipe as it connects to the Free-spirits de-cat, however. Since the de-cat header is little shorter than stock, there isn't a complete connection--you find this out once you attach the spring and it pulls it away from the header. I used some stainless steel tubing and clamped it down around the mid-pipe where it connects to the header to ensure a seal as best as possible---now everything feels snug-ish.*
    May need to purchase some proper piping, however...to ensure fitment is tight.

    • @adamburridge3019
      @adamburridge3019 3 роки тому

      Just fitted mine had the same issue as also using free spirt decat. Not sure long term if I should cut 10-20mm off the bottom pipe to line up better. I’ve managed to work around it for now but keen to have a better long term solution. Let us know what you do.. if anything

    • @DValdez2321
      @DValdez2321 3 роки тому

      @@adamburridge3019 Hey Adam! I went to the hardware store and purchased a stainless steel metal sheet and wrapped it around the area where the mid-pipe meets the header---then clamped it down as tight as it'll go. Not a very elegant solution, but the pipe is fitted snugly and without rattle.
      I did notice...despite TEC saying the pipe follows the same line/profile as stock exhaust---it does force my leg out when standing a bit. This will probably be amplified when wearing an adventure boot.

    • @adamburridge3019
      @adamburridge3019 3 роки тому

      @@DValdez2321 Thanks Danny, sounds like a good idea. I’ve positioned the pipe in a way that there’s no gaps and I ran the bike with out the heatshields to see if I could feel air escaping. Which there wasn’t, so I think I’m ok for now, I may do the same as you in the future to avoid any chance of the pipe shifting. Regarding the pipe following the lines of the existing unit, like you mention it definitely sticks out more and yes it is noticeable with adventure boots. Once riding it isn’t a issue more so when putting a leg down.. only ridden it a few times since fitting so I guess I’ll get used to it and the sound is way better whilst not being too loud
