  • The smoke generator works extremely well, it has a quiet fan to blow the smoke out of the funnel with perfect timeing with the strokes.
    it lasted over 30 minutes with the amount of oil.
    On automation I can take over the running of the loco e.g slow it down and speed it up but the automation will take over near the end of the shedual that it's running on to move on to the next shedual.

    11 coaches 😮😮😮 now that's what you call a train and it pulls it without a problem. Very impressive locomotive this I must resist the temptation 🤣

    I cannot thank you enough for posting this video, mentioning about how you had to increase the track voltage to make the smoke feature work; I could not figure out for the life of me why my smoke generator on my Scotsman wasn't producing smoke, until I tried an 18v PSU. I feel that's something Märklin should have put in the instructions.

    Wow, the emergence of the Scotsman out of the tunnel with the smoke cloud was an epic scene. I don't know if you planned it, but it was epic! Need to re-use the footage and add some dramatic music. ;) Very cool video! Wishing you good health and good times!

      @hovermotion  10 місяців тому +1

      Hi Anthony thanks,
      Yeah I planed that coming out of the tunnel as I knew the smoke would swirl as the tunnel has the lineings installed..
      I might do a music vid with some good footage for you...
      Thanks again,
      Hope all is well with the family. 👍🏻

    Superb Jim. That was an interesting point on the voltages. And the smoke does look and work well. Nice filming as well Jim.

      Hi me Loard,
      yeah it works well , a very robust loco design too..
      I think Maklin will do another uk loco as this model is doing very well in the UK and Europe.
      I hope for a a4 class like the mallard.

    Never had a voltage issue on BLI, MTH or the ESU and Seuthe smoke units with the NCE powercab... they just eat the Ampage though.

    • @hovermotion
      @hovermotion  10 місяців тому

      Yeah this loco requires a lot of amps as it has a lot of kit onboard...the Esu Ecos trany is great as you can adjust the amps very easy.

    Very good sound but a combo of onboard and location sound affects would be even better. See Rails adds. There are a number of old sound affect records of various railway related on records and tapes. Onboard is like being the footplate crew not a line side observer.

      Hi Many thanks, I may do that in a future video as its something ive wanted to do but had no idea where to find the sound clips..
      Thanks again..Jim.

    Is this the HO Scale model I heard about earlier this year? Seemed strange to release one in HO scale and have it be the modern version, when most British modelers seem to use OO Scale. I haven't actually heard anything about other manufacturers making rolling British rolling stock in HO or anything. The only way an HO Scale Flying Scotsman would've made sense in my mind is the do the version that toured internationally to the US and Australia, but I may be missing some info since I only heard of it once.

      Hi , thanks for watching.
      This is 1/87 scale ho scale made for the German market and the European ho scale system.
      This is the first uk loco from Marklin of Germany in a very long time.
      This model is the Trix version, Trix is the sister company of Marklin and is two rail DC pickup where Marklin is three rail A.C pickup.

      Over the years Playcraft/Joueff, Lima and Fleischman were the main brands the made British outline HO 1/87 scale rolling stock. The Fleischman Bullied coaches used in this rake were the peak of British HO rolling stock production.
      Lots of modellers around the world saying they want British HO , but will they purchase enough to create a new expanding range of British HO?

    Hi, great running session with the smoke, it was great to watch, I did read somewhere that you can change the chuff rates in the CV settings, to be fair it sounds very nice indeed, if Hornby ever got to this level of engineering I fear that price of it would be a lot more than this gem of an offering, thanks for sharing.

    • @hovermotion
      @hovermotion  10 місяців тому

      Yeah it is possible to adjust the cyl strokes , I would rather leave it as it is as its utterly stunning model as it is out of the box as you say.
      It's so well made, coreless motor, etc...many metal and brass parts.

      @@hovermotion Is the tender body cast as well? Such an amazing model in every way, as i stated before i hope we see Trix produce more great British steam models like this, the W1 Hush Hush A4 and the 9F would be a great start, then a city of Truro to top it off, Hornby couldn't do this in a million years! Accurascale in a few years when they stop producing wagon after wagon, i know these are bread and butter items for them but they are producing wagons that are already available, why can't they tackle a JJA wagon now that Bachmann want the best part of £100 for a wagon that is 13+ years old and cost less than £25 when first issued, that would be great just like the FNA nuclear they produced this year which is far superior to Bachmanns very old bland and expensive offering.

    • @hovermotion
      @hovermotion  10 місяців тому

      @@StormmyStormmyYeah it's bonkers how much the Hornby ,Bachmann etc items can increase by , I am stunned when I see the prices on ebay sometimes..
      Yes the tender is metal and the boiler is too , it has brass smoke deflectors and boiler bands ,name plates etc...I think it's one of the best locos I've got from Marklin Trix.

      @@hovermotion Don't get me started on the price of model railway items on Greedbay/Dreambay! some are shocking beyond belief, to be fair the sky high priced items remain there for a very very long time, i have had some bargains from the site over the years, its a case of keep looking and you will find the item you want at a price you're willing to pay
      Bachmann......(Bachmann&Robbing) have prices for the very rich in the hobby, but their products are very good, i wait for sales to get what i want, i don't really bother with Hornby because they are a spent force! every now and then they produce some good items, their Railroad range is the biggest ripoff since the Poll Tax, very substandard rehashed Lima models from the 70/80/90's, not a fan and never will be.
