I like that they actually made this into a storyline rather than just throwing in a "Oh, Irene - you've had your hair done!" line. I particularly enjoyed Dr Kelly asking "Do you bleach your hair?" as if there was any doubt 😆 In real life, Lynne McGranger asked if she could stop bleaching her hair as she was genuinely worried it could fall out.
@@tomspence8506 Yes, yes well you would remember that Tom, however I remember when Michael ended up boning your wife Pippa after you kicked the bucket and how Pippa said he was a much better lover on his worst day than you'd ever been on your best, something which both Marilyn and I can testify to after attending several of the Summer Bay Caravan Park 'key' parties, which incidentally was also how I came to have my first four-way with Ailsa, Irene and Alf. - Love Flathead.
@@harryricochet8134 I think Harry Ricochet you may have got me confused with Pippa's first husband Tom Fletcher. Tom died in 1990 and I'm clearly not dead yet. And why would you want a three way with Ailsa, Irene and Alf?
It's little storylines like this combined with the more dramatic ones that made the show interesting back then. Unfortunately it’s not like this anymore. Now it’s just relationships and breakups combined with crime
@@anothercommentoh my god yes this, after about 08 09 it really just went out the window I grew up watching it from 00 until like 2010ish it just went foul after that tbh
Yeah I suppose it fits quite well with what we learn much later on. Not sure exactly how well it fits however, as she describes her childhood as "safe and happy" prior to being 16. Not sure what age she was meant to be when all that stuff began.
I always thought the Darker hair made her look younger!
Same here
She actually looks better dark. Blonde made her look so washed out.

I'm guessing this was the official transition from Irene's original blonde hair to her well-known red hair...
Yes, it was just brown for a little while then started getting more and more red.
She decided to go Brazilian about the same time but it looked like a plate of crispy bacon so she just let the hedge regrow.
"We're the ones that have to look at it" classic marilyn lol
LOL! I remember when Marilyn dyed Donald Fisher's hair and in turned bright orange 🍊 and he was wearing a hat just like Irene in this scene LOL!

right? simple, rustic. yeah! wake up! Jesus! fuck me, you're not a fucking chef
All the tv soaps were better back in the 90s. More true to life.

Must of been magical dye, one treatment and it's stayed that colour ever since.
Title Edit- 'Irene Goes With The Joan Ferguson Hairdo'
It looks that way to start with when she's got it all scraped back haha
"You're on a flippin' charge, girlie!"
5:04 “And then it all changed...”
I think I know what Irene is referring to there... Poor woman...

I thought Joan Ferguson and Judy Bryant got ahold of her when she was in Wentworth with that undressed wooden strap-on Judy fashioned in the workshop
can you please put more of 1996 on? with Shannon and Mandy, like when Shannon's mum comes back and asks Mandy to drop a chapter in her book???
