  • This Classic Salsa Recipe is so easy and delicious, you'll be making it again and again. It's fresh, it's chunky, and nothing beats homemade. Read on for the recipe, and remember you can customize it to your preferred level of heat.
    Classic Salsa
    1 28oz. can of petite cut tomatoes (or 8 roma tomatoes, diced small)
    3 jalapeños, stems removed
    1/2 a white onion
    a small bunch of fresh cilantro
    3 fresh garlic cloves, minced
    salt to taste (I use about 1 tsp.)
    1 tsp. cumin
    the juice of 1 lemon
    Place jalapeños, onion, fresh cilantro and minced garlic in food processor and pulse until coarsely chopped. Pour in two-thirds of the can of petite cut tomatoes, reserving one-third for later. Add salt and cumin, and puree. Pour contents into large bowl, then add remaining tomatoes from can. Squeeze in lemon juice. Mix well and taste. You may want to add more salt or more jalapeños, depending on your own preference. Garnish with additional cilantro and enjoy!
    This salsa will keep in the refrigerator for up to a month.

    Hi, I just found your channel when I was looking for a new version of Green Chili Stew. I lived in Santa Fe for 3 years and loved the food. I’m from Texas and am living back home now. San Antonio area. I learned how to make Salsa when we lived in Santa Fe. I make a milder version, but everyone here loves it. If we want heat I add jalapeños. I use 2 cans of Rotel tomatoes, onion, poblano peppers, 3 Roma tomatoes, salt , pepper, garlic and cumin. I don’t add the cilantro so I leave it out of I’m making a big batch. If it’s just for me I will add cilantro. I use lime juice in mine. Very similar to yours. So glad I found your channel!

    This is a very good recipe because it is a fresh version. I usually broil all my ingredients first. I like this one. Thanks.

    I make a similar version but I stew the tomatoes and jalapenos, it gives it a different taste!

    I noticed you used lemon as opposed to lime is there a huge difference in the taste 🤔? I totally want to try this recipe.

    Salsa looks amazing, question can you freeze ?

    • @marcyinspired1442
      @marcyinspired1442  Рік тому +2

      I'm sure you can, but I wouldn't recommend it. I would just make a smaller batch if you don't think you're going to use it. Because of the lemon juice, it will keep in the fridge for about a month.

      Hi Penelope. All my recipes are in written form just beneath the video, itself. So, whether you're seeing the video on a computer or a cell phone, scroll down just a bit and you'll see a written explanation. You'll have to click where it says, "see more," because it doesn't all fit in that little box. Hopefully, this helps. If not, get back to me and I'll try to help a little more.

      On some phones you may see a little arrow just beneath the video on the right hand side. It’s pointing down and looks like the letter “v.” Click that, and it should show you everything in written form.

    Hi, Marcia. I always associate lime with Mexican food but you seem to use lemon more. Can I ask why?

    • @marcyinspired1442
      @marcyinspired1442  2 роки тому +1

      That's funny you should say that because I put lime in everything, and even have a lime tree for that reason. I think it's just the videos you've seen that would make it seem otherwise. I use lemon when I need a preservative, such as in this salsa. I try to go with what's a more common ingredient for people to already have on hand.

    Has anyone had experience using Cilantro from maybe a store bought jar, can or perhaps a small shaker type container? Thanks for any info.

    We’re wimpy, so I remove the seeds and veins from the jalapeños.😜

    A big fat NO on the cilantro. Why do so many like this nasty herb? It ruins everything it touches.

    looks good except the cilantro I always taste dishwater lol. I might try a serrano pepper too
