I hope this hire turns out to be a step in the right direction. To create an effective offense, it will take the talent to adapt and learn on the fly. He seems like an intelligent and eager coach.
Drink is a damn good HC. This was the right move and I bet it makes our football team better. And gives Drink the ability to really focus on getting this team built to win consistently!
Dude is a good people manager and recruiter, and I'm sure he's a good OC when he doesn't have 100s of other responsibilities. Glad he's gonna be able to focus on the management and recruiting side and delegate offensive responsibilities.
If we are going by the number of stars next to a recruit name then we didn't get many big time Defensive players this last cycle. Burks is the only one that comes to mind.
first thing he said "wants to attack all the time"! FINALLY instead of the passive sideways passing from Eli and IGNORING the TE as not sure he even realized TE's were eligible.
It's pretty clear why they hired the guy - he's ambitious. This mistake (being the OC and calling plays) is a good one for a Mizzou HC to make - he wants to be the guy who does it all. Before Pinkel, Mizzou had decades of HCs content to let our team and fanbase wither away while regional flyover states built national powerhouses. Us younger fans are paying for the lack of ambition and drive by those coaches and athletic departments. Mizzou needs a coach that is hungry and a little arrogant. He's made mistakes, but his moves suggest he's humble and smart enough to learn from them. He's earned a few more years in my book. Clearly he has with the admin as well.
Please dude, Please get the TE involved in the passing game. The defense never had to worry about our TE cause we never used them! Drink didn't even try to keep the D on their toes!
HC was supposed to be an offensive genius. He is everything but that. This isn’t an issue w too much on his plate. He flat out can’t call a game offensively. This kills him to be forced to get an OC and now he’s using NIL as an excuse for his inability to call an offense. This man is a con artist. Thankfully for Mizzou fans he found two coordinators that should be able to coach the team while this PR stunt man keeps conning everyone.
He coached two years at app state and the whole “offensive genius” thing was way over blown. Virtually every good coach has an OC, it was time for him to do this
@@tylerkoch9685 He was at App St for 1 year. Typical Mizzou fan not even knowing basic info ab the people in their program. Your reply is also like a contradiction in and of itself. You’re like agreeing with me but in a passive aggressive way. The fact is the fans expected an offensive genius. That’s the brand we were sold. Smart, offensive guy. He failed as the OC and now he’s using the excuse of NIL for his inability to handle that duty.
He can call a game. He wouldn't have been OC at Boise State and NC State if he wasn't. I just think he needed to adapt more in the passing game and he wasn't able to do it. New day and era;
@@davidkenney2175 Another typical Mizzou fan that doesn’t know basic info about the people in the program. He was NOT an OC at Boise. He couldn’t get calls in on time often. Had no balls. He’s a bad play caller. Offense changed drastically when Hamden called plays this year. You are clueless.
@@battmuha9 He was truly awful at running an offense. way you can tell is every game he would come out and on first series would be punting and not driving down for a TD when he had all week to watch film and know the other teams D's weaknesses.
I’m glad Drink is humble enough to know he can’t do everything. Can’t wait for next season! MIZ
He just needs a QB

He’s doing worse than Barry at the same point. You people are drunk with blinders because this is an actual PR conman.
I love your positivity and am all in on Coach Drink! MIZ!!!

I’m excited for the damn season to get started. Damn MIZ
ZOU!
Well, in terms of that, I'm not sure what to think, but I am excited for more tempo!

OMG running an offense thet FITS your personell? Instead of just doing what you do? so refreshing to hear.
watched several of their games and his meat and potatoes is passing ahead instead of sideways or behind the LOS! what a concept.

Maybe now we wont throw a screen on 4rth and 30.
Or run it up the middle on 4th and 8

Are you kidding coach Drink had the TE in mind all season . . . he got all their cardio in so they could stay in peak physical condition.
@@shawnkurtz4424 now that gave me a laugh 😂
More concerned with losing a lot of starters on defense
They all came back except Maguire
The SEC is different from the mountain west so he is going to have his work cut out for him. This league has size and speed.
Tigers got much better simply because won't have Eli holding the o back and now they have a chance to be prepared for the game ahead.
He's very Ted Lasso. Needs to grow a 'stache.
