That solo man, that solo. I listened to it some years back, must have been 10 years sine i had heard it and i started to cry, nostalgia is realy strong ,especialy when you had a great youth. Thanks again oncle Frank !!!
There's an interview floating around in which Tom Fowler says that this was one of the toughest shows It was freezing outside and there were no visual lines to see anyone's feet for tempo so everyone had to make eye contact with each other in order to avid getting lost.
This got lost from You tube for a while but now its back , its a great set thanx for restoring it! Great guitar solo from Zappa and the backing are terrific.
@MickAivanhov .. I think all of those artists mentioned will be remembered, and I think that only musicians and people will really hip taste (there are a few) will remember Zappa--and that's a fucking shame.
Only two guitarists can put shivers down my back, Frank Zappa and Alex Lifeson. Zappa and the Mothers had SOUL in their music. You just get caught up in it.
na man, zappa's a legend. he says himself he doesnt care about being remembered, but i recon folk will be groovin to some zappa for many generations to come.
Frank's such a genius that he took a couple of courses in music at a community college and then went on to write symphonies. He could write tablature for every instrument. Amazing.
@BognarRegis ya that show was fucking unreal I've seen zappa plays zappa now 3 times and they just keep getting better, thank god someone is keeping this amazing music alive!
What a line up too! Saw Luc Ponty> amazing stuff here. Damn those were good times. love ya Frank. pure genuis and you know Cheech n Chong took some purple barrel and listened to this!
I'm purely conventional; Rogers & Hammerstein, Frank Capra, Bing Crosby, etc. But there's something about this song; fell in love with it in college in the 1970's; I like it the way I like the taste of blackstrap mollasses; it doesn't move me like Beethoven's Ode to Joy does, but it does let me get freed up now & then from my straitlaced preferences
Ah...the apeshit 'Montana' swedish solo. What I particularly like about FZ is how he finds the perfect note to start one of his amazing solo flights. He frequently made history by this method. The Florentine Pogen solo on KCET is another favourite of mine.
"by my self I wouldn't have no boss but I would be raisin my dental floss and it would be on top that IS WHY I'm movin to Montana" The song that announced Frank was back.
Ah, slightly different line up, my man! Murphy Brock had replaced Ian Underwood (my favourite Zappa sideman) and Ponty was also gone. Until not long ago the only available performance by this band was Father O'Blivion on YCDTOSA 6
Must.....Watch....Solo.....Again....
So glad this version was recorded. My favorite version of Montana. Guitar solo is pure soul.
That solo man, that solo. I listened to it some years back, must have been 10 years sine i had heard it and i started to cry, nostalgia is realy strong ,especialy when you had a great youth. Thanks again oncle Frank !!!
FZ deserves 6stars!
what a talent.
Zappa was the Einstein of music
lol...yes
makes me always melancholic , restless inside
There's an interview floating around in which Tom Fowler says that this was one of the toughest shows It was freezing outside and there were no visual lines to see anyone's feet for tempo so everyone had to make eye contact with each other in order to avid getting lost.
This shit grabs you by the ears and force feeds bliss
Madman! I love the plaid bellbottoms, too
Frank Zappa is the best. There's really no other way to put it. Amazing.
i never tire of this.
Best Zappa solo section ever.
3:25 Jean-Luc Ponty just standing there, staring at Frank ! Priceless.
Frank was the boss of the wah-wah----3:12-4:25 and 5:10-5:50 just amazing playing . Ralph Humphrey's accents and
fills are dynamite throughout.
I love it! Well done Frank and last but not least my favourite Jean-Luc Ponty. This is how I remember him at Jazz Club B-14 in Rotterdam!!!
I've always focused on frank zappa as a composer. I kind of forgot how great he was at guitar. That solo though, damn.
I've listened to this at least 10 times and Frank's solo still brings tears to my eyes.
Was lucky enough to get to see Frank in concert in about 83 or 84. Such a genius! Miss him and still enjoy his music!
I keep coming back to this one...that solo, Frank, the best.
The best band too...
I love how he conducts around 00:20 so everyone gets the entry.
I love how he goes completely ballistic during the solo. R-E-S-P-E-C-T.
This got lost from You tube for a while but now its back , its a great set thanx for restoring it! Great guitar solo from Zappa and the backing are terrific.
Jimi is my guy forever but no way he’d pull this off. Impossible guitar solo.
Frank is sick in the Dorian scale.
yes
This might be my favorite guitar solo ever!
Absolutely brilliant, thanks for posting. We all need a little Zappa in our lives when times look gloomy.
One of my favorite Zappa's tune....and era as well....he always had the best musicians.
@MickAivanhov .. I think all of those artists mentioned will be remembered, and I think that only musicians and people will really hip taste (there are a few) will remember Zappa--and that's a fucking shame.
he tear down his guitar like a beast!
This is one of the greatest guitar solos in the history of civilization.
Sweet. Zap plays Zap will be here this summer, never seen them, anyone?
Only two guitarists can put shivers down my back, Frank Zappa and Alex Lifeson. Zappa and the Mothers had SOUL in their music. You just get caught up in it.
Killer guitar... sending this right to my 10 yo son... You just gotta smile ... he's killing that guitar
Arguably the best version of this great song I've heard. Ah, the Mothers.
na man, zappa's a legend. he says himself he doesnt care about being remembered, but i recon folk will be groovin to some zappa for many generations to come.
I reckon the sound is better here. Either way, this is one of my favourite YT clips. God bless Swedish Broadcasting.
OGM, that fuzz tone hes got, IS THE BOMB!! its a pity he didnt use it more on his albums. The best unkown zappa solo!!!
Admirable!!!! total y absolutamente Admirable Zappa... sobretodo el sonido de tu guitarra!!! :)
Frank's such a genius that he took a couple of courses in music at a community college and then went on to write symphonies. He could write tablature for every instrument. Amazing.
Awsome guitar solo, Frank Rules!!!
He never had a band as good as these. Should be a live album of this group
@BognarRegis ya that show was fucking unreal

pure genuis and you know Cheech n Chong took some purple barrel and listened to this!
