  • A former prison officer who murdered his friend and hid her body in a remote forest has been jailed for life and will serve a minimum of 20 years behind bars.
Ross Willox killed Emma Faulds after arranging to party with her at his home in Monkton, Ayrshire, on Sunday, April 28, 2019.
Ms Faulds was reported missing by her family on April 30, 2019, two days after she was last seen.
Her body was found about six weeks later in Glentrool Forest, in the Galloway Forest, Dumfries and Galloway, after a major search involving specialist officers and search dogs.

I was a Prison Officer for thirty years and have locked up thousands of people for some of the most heinous crimes and so sadly, nothing shocks me. This man will be quaking in his shoes as to what lies ahead. Prison and Police officers who have been jailed do not get an easy time and rightfully so. They are worse than any other criminal because they held a position of power and trust but abused their position. RIP Emma.

@Brian Sellers That's a myth.. Prison officers and police officers who offend and are sentenced absolutely get an easy time. Corruption is rife and complacent especially within SPS management who are guilty of some of the worst crimes imaginable. These prisoners of special status are given protection and cushy passman jobs and kept out of mainstream riff raff. They are also fast tracked through the progression system if possible and risk managed in less secure conditions.
3 on 1 Assaults, Torture, murder are just a few of the extra curricular activities that go on especially in seg units.
Now with the forensic psychology department being allowed to roam free throughout the estate. These monsters are overruling governors and are using the prison environment to practice and Guinea pig the dark arts of psychology on anyone they don't like, inside and outside of the prison walls.
The predomince of so called legal highs entering the system is yet another euphanism for these maniacs and narcissists to go around doing as they wish as long as its kept schtum inside those walls. Using extra judicial methods involving technology used to mimic the effects of mental illness. These people operate in a shroud of secrecy and will do anything at all to hide away their criminal conduct, and if they manage avoiding the prying eye of the public then it seems these tyrants think they are a law unto themselves.
As a prison officer of 30 years surely you must know the level of corruption throughout the system. Coverups are common place with the most recent being the blatant stone wall murder of Alan Marshall in Edinburgh prison.
Around six weeks ago yet another three so called officers were sacked for the same three on one style attack on yet another prisoner in Edinburgh prison.
I was there and had the misfortune of having a towel wrapped around my neck while being restrained, choking me out. They did the same to Alan Marshall weeks later and left the towel in full view of cameras. Which they crookedly and falsely explained away as being a "temporary spitmask"
Either way there needs to be an actual independent inquiry (no connection to the Scottish government) to investigate corrupt management and police officials who are complacent in whitewashing wrongdoing.

Why? He will be just like all the other dishonest scum in prisons. None of them are any better than others. Society would be much better if prisoners were never allowed back out as they keep offending and breeding more scum.
If only the same effort was put in to all investigations, maybe the "missing" girl from Spain, whose parents said a dog detected meat for a barbecue in the back of their car, might have been found. We all know exactly who I mean, they were lucky to get away without further action as only they know what happened on the night.
