In 40 years of going to the track I can honestly say that I have NEVER once gone to watch the flagman. I can also say in that same amount of time I have zero memories, good or bad, that involves the flagman. Things will be just fine.
i have seen some bad flagmen over the years, those are the ones i remember..
Have you ever been to Speed Weeks at Volusia Florida?
@@user-vp8pn6zm5r,
I have.
It's all about the extra pair eyes on the track given the now wear communication of some sorts.
@@vaughanoke1059,
What makes you think there will be less eyes? Just because there's not someone in the stand doesn't mean there's less eyes.
Excited for the startof the Lucas Tour tonight!! Lets go!👍
As an infield worker I don't know how I feel about no flagger in the stands. And, I think the flagger is part of the fan "show". Especially, if they really get into their flagging!
For the kids maybe, but I’ve rarely even paid the flag man any attention
hmm fair enough on the race control in pennsy, having several spoters around the track and stretch, but will the fans be able to see caution and restarts not all of us can see the lights around the track very well and many of us look to the flagger that its one to go to start for those like me that film from the inside, I want to be able to know if its go or if they are waving the start off for another lap and I look to the flagger to be a visual sign, or when its about to finish, especially in silver crown the races are long and its easy to loose track of laps or who's on the lead lap, or the longer sprint races, will they have litteral messages saying 1 to go or a 2 to finish or perhaps that not always used blue and yellow strip flag to let drivers know they have someone comming up on them, I know they got apps on a phone but when I got two hands on camera to hold it so I can film the race, or use my phone to film I cant darn well do both.
Thank you for all you do to keep informed about dirt r as cing throughout the year.
You have a great show thanks for the info
As a racer I usually only pay attention to the flagger for initial starts and restarts. The rest is controlled by the tower via raceciever and coming soon, lightceiver.
I think about all the kids at almost every track in America that are flagging every race as if they were the Jr Flagman for that track!
Some of these kids have full flag sets and know what flag is used in each situation, I'd hate to see that disappear...imo
where did all these teams come from is a interesting question.
how many will survive the racing season would be a good thing to bet on.
You can't have a race without a flagman. That's just the way its gotta be.
Lol wut?
Does it impose on your way of thinking? Grow up, your opinion is meaningless
Lol 🤣
Virtual flag man with multiple people + cameras, watching all parts of the Track simultaneously Definitely an upgrade from one guy trying to keep track of 25 cars spread out over a half mile 🤷♂️ come on people this should and will become normal.
Indoor Auto Racing Championship also going on this weekend in Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall. Justin Grant is there in a TQ, might be worth noting on Sunday day’s show
They should fo something about the bathrooms😜
Fast forward three years. Racing cancelled, electronic flagging system broken. Waiting on parts from Chyna. Old timers gone, no one knows how to actually flag……
Still hoping to be at Lincoln for Icebreaker/Sunday. Flagman in the stand or not, I'll be there if I can!
My tickets are purchased for both nights at East Bay.
Come out and support the track this year ! 2024 is the last year for this 50+ year old facility.
In regards to Safety the virtual Flagman is a “No Brainer”
on the no flagman they are looking for trouble when it is being run by the tower
I predict at least half of the High Limit teams don’t finish the season.
I predict 4 won't. I also predict 2 WoO teams won't. Hopefully someone will see this after the 2024 season and bring it back to life for us!
I have to admit, no flag man sounds strange to me because I grew up with one but I’m not going to stop going to a track due to new technology. Sounds like some good racing coming up. Can’t wait to dig in to championship contenders in both sprint car series. Great show!
Is charter good for team, regaurdless of amount of cars, or one car per charter?
One car per charter.
Justin, did you catch up on Gravels podcast/youtube show last night? Some interesting comments there.
Hi , I liked watching Gravel's UA-cam video for the past couple of years , but now , with the start of the Hi Limit sprint car series , he seems to bash everyone not associated with the WoO
series this year .
I think that without Sweet, Rico , Marks, and others, he thinks he can finally win
a title .
It's a pity as I loved watching him race and talk about chocolate milk , my favorite , but he seems really negative about the two tours .
Just my opinion.
Make at all remote cars to the drivers standing in the booth with there remote takes everyone outta harms way ...lmao
You laugh but I remember hearing Humpy Wheeler once say that he thought that was the future of racing. 🤷♂
So what happens for the world of outlaw show? Drivers who are on touring series are used to one system and they have a totally different system?
If I’m not mistaken I believe the outlaws have there own deal as and believe he will flag for outlaw shows
Replaced with the same modern technology that’s wrapped around my Christmas tree. The same tech invented in 1914 (Electric traffic light) hanging in every corner of every racetrack in the nation fur decades. There many aspects of the flagman that will be lost and are overlooked. Most people don’t know them as their local and series flagman suck. The loss of these will be ignored and regardless of how insignificant they are, it non the less degrades it further. Let’s be clear there not trying to enhance the sport or improve it, There’s no massive or systemic issue being solved here. It’s solely a change designed to reduce cost. Cost reduction that’s not going into the purse. The sport has serious problems of antiquation yet, we focus on the erroneous ones.
I’ve flagged for a couple years now and I can tell you with no doubt in my mind that Lincoln is doing a good thing. There’s no real reason to have a guy standing out there in a vulnerable place aside from “tradition”. Speaking of, I blame “tradition” for most of the idiotic things we see in racing today, like the fact that Sprint Cars still get push started when they could EASILY have a starter like everyone else. I hope that other tracks ditch the old ways and actually progress the sport.
How do you Black flag a car from the tower? How do you move a car's position in the lineup during a yellow flag restart? I don't see the need to get rid of the Flagman. It seems to me ,more of a convenience than anything. Some people, like Kyle Larson, would like to put starters on sprint cars. Some things should be left alone, in my opinion.
Those things happen via the Raceiver, with or without a flag man.
Change is a hard thing to accept for a lot of people. The "what ifs" only hold back progression! Times change, brace yourself and hang on!
So much for all the glass half empty snipers saying there is not enough sprintcars to run two National touring series.
Well folks in the real world the glass is always half full.....
Carson Macedo = WoO 🏆
Rico = HL 🏆
For 10+ years I've asked why tracks need a flagman!! There is no need.
Racing will always be dangerous. Thats what makes it exciting! And i taught my kids growing up what the different flags meant it was a huge part of the whole experience for them and same when my parents taught me. Im not sure i can agree with no flag man. The drivers are at risk too. As well as ringside fans. Kinda takes away from the experience in my opinion.
Just my opinion on the flagger situation. A great flagger can add qlot of excitement to a show. If you've ever watched Dave Farney with the NE Mod Super Dirt Car Series you would understand what I'm saying.
Human flagman
Lincoln needs to get a New Announcer!
Part of racing is watching the flagman control the field as they come out of turn 4 for the green flag or watching him throw the double checkered flags at the end of the racing action, this sounds really dumb.
One thing I learned about Sprint Car fans following this UA-cam channel is they are old, set in their ways and don’t think any other form of racing is any good. A flagman is Pure Nostalgia and serves little purpose with electronic scoring, caution lights and all decisions made by the race director in the booth. Even starts/restarts are controlled by the lead car. Flagman = 🦤
