Cat wants to play but Petunia just wants to build her into the dam 😂
I found this and it’s a little over a month later. 💔She was just the cutest and sweetest little girl. Watching this, I think I can speak for all subscribers when I say, we miss her very much.

Looks like Petunia is into the rings now. She sees Tulip wearing them so she'll probably figure that's what to do. Great that she plays with Neptune rather gently. The interaction is good for both of their development.
Actually not really. Holley has even said they don’t encourage it because they don’t want the beavers to be acclimated to domestic animals. One, it could put both animals in danger, health-wise, and two, it could be a problem for the beavers when they are released if they see a dog or cat and are too familiar or like them. She said luckily the beavers haven’t really bonded or seem to care much about the dogs (other than the small dog that is always inside).

Alas, Holley, "cuteness" doesn't remotely begin to cover the state of things regarding Petunia. I believe that we have entered a realm where we need a new word to describe the irresistible quality of petunia's adorableness/cuteness. I propose, for now, until we come up with a more apt word, the noun "petuniateness" and its adjectival form, "petuniate".

Even as babies, they appear to move with a purpose, they’re busy little beavers! They would make excellent room cleaners for me…I have piles of clothes on the floor (it’ll take Petunia & Tulip two days max, it has been four years & it’s still on the floor for me) 😂
2:10 - my washer & dryer makes the same noise when it’s done! When I heard it, I got up out of my cozy bed, looked at the machines & thought “Did I even do laundry today?!”
That poor cat is going to get a complex. First it gets beaten up by a parrot and then by a baby beaver. 😂. Oh my, look at our precious Petunia! What a whackadoodle. A very strong, determined, and adorable whackadoodle, but a whackadoodle nonetheless. Tulip and Petunia are going to be bitterly disappointed when they finally move into the magnificent Beaver Paradise Sanctuary...only to discover that brightly colored rings do not, in fact, grow on trees. And poor little Neptune; he just wants to play ("She'll never guess I'm hiding under this rug!" 6:15), but Petunia has no time for that now; she's got serious Beaver Stuff to do. Looks like Petunia is putting her time inside the house to good use; she wants to make Tulip proud! 💕🌷🦫 💕🏵️🦫 💕🌪️🦫 💕💚 💕💙

I just want to thank you Holley M for the work you do and for sharing these precious little lives with us. This video of Petunia found me randomly last week and I have to say she reached me like nothing has in a very long time. I have been struggling with very severe and at times life-threatening depression and for the past month have been in a very despondent place. Petunia took me out of myself for the first time in a long time, softened my heart, and helped me feel warmth, love, gratitude and hope. These are monumental shifts compared to how I’ve otherwise been. I read yesterday the news of Petunia and I am so very sorry for you and your family for such an irreplaceable loss. She was a gift to me at a very crucial time and I am beyond grateful. May the legacy that is the joy she brought to you and everyone she touched continue to grow in her memory. 🌸🕊️🙏🌸

I love the fact that beavers can become household pets without loosing their wildlife traits.
No! Petunia was not a pet. She was orphaned and found in a field somewhere. Her human mom specializes in wildlife/beaver rehab. they are still wild animals, not meant to be kept as pets, at all. They become very territorial later in life.
Great video! If Petunia turns out to be a male is there any chance that he and Tulip could become mates or is there too great an age discrepancy?

Curious: do the beavers have something to chew on when in the house? I’m looking at the furniture and the question popped into my head. Or do they just know not to chew on everything in sight?
We have the days and nights laid out with different opportunities to do beaver things. Free access to the house is always supervised and it’s for play and exploration. Overnight petunia is inside the house but inside a large puppy crate. She gets food and large branches to chew and eat. Mornings are for sleeping. Daytime is mostly outside with tulip and they have access to all the branches they want.
@@hmuraco Thanks for responding. I find the research aspect fascinating. As you said in the livestream there really isn’t a lot of research on beavers, so watching your videos is a peek into their behaviors and life that most of us will never see or experience. The above gnawing/chewing question was out of the blue. I have great faith that you and family provide everything needed, but like all life, beavers are going to do beaver things.
Hmm looks to me like kitty Neptune is trying to play with Petunia while Petunia is trying murder the kitty. Neptune needs to be careful as Petunia gets bigger and more capable of dangerous attacks. At least he has nine lives

@@romanr9977 Oh, you have totally misconstrued the situation. Neptune was giving Petunia little gentle kitty cat love taps. Letting her know that even though she is a murderous beaver baby that he doesn’t hold a grudge. Poor Neptune, he is so misunderstood.

Please let me be honest, this is sad. These are the most fascinating animals I've ever seen the way it's encoded in their DNA to block flowing water. I understand if this was a rescue animal,, but it's trying to do what it was born to do without water and it seems to be confused. I believe this animal would be better off if you would release it to the wild
The beaver kit you are watching is approx 6 weeks old. If you released it now, it would soon die. It is reasonably well established that rehabbing a beaver takes 2 years -- the same amount of time that a young beaver spends with its natural parents. If you have the time and patience to look through the back catalogue here, you will see that the young beaver in this vid already spends time outside with an older female and can swim and dive. It is now developing its building skills,doubtless stimulated by contact with the older female beaver..
@@Bloodnok49 doubtless simulated, is clever. This isn't a squirrel or Fox, its body is designed to be in water. Not a house. I've actually said for a long time their desire to block flowing water is the one of the most fascinating things on the planet. There's no other animals like them. A land critter can adjust to humans & homes. These don't bury nuts, they're built to be in water actually changing landscapes and showed human beings how to build dams.
My point is if I saw this animal playing with the cat rolling around running and having a good time sleeping on the couch,,, I'm all for it 👍👍👍 if 3 years from now that animal is dragging everything it can get its teeth on around the house to build a dam in the corner of the room under the dresser,, it's very sad & disturbing & the priority should be to get this animal Into the Wild One Way or Another. I hope it's playing, if it's trying to flood the house with hoop rings for eternity get the poor animal back to the wild
You are right but this beaver is a rescue. She will be rehabilitated and released when she's ready. This channel is about rescued beavers. They are not pets.
