It may sound a little unfair to their American fans but it's true, FNM's hardcore fans are outside the States, say Oceania, Europe and South America, so that's pretty much why the guys didn't tour the U.S.
fnm didn't get close to selling out both hollywood dates in 2010(when they were marketed as some of their last), they even had to reduce ticket prices to $20. it's only north america that doesn't 'get' fnm. they just sold out 8500 tix in the UK in hours.
I think FNM has a lot more fans in the U.S. than people realize. They've built up a cult following over the years, and are more popular now than they were back then. Unfortunately, Billy is right. The industry/media (Rolling Stone, etc.) in the US has 'typecast' them as a certain "thing" (funk metal, in their case), just like a slew of other underrated bands. US music lovers know better. If the band did select US dates w/ other bands, they'd draw large crowds. Bank on it.
