"Compact" is really the best word to describe Haruna in every way! She's such a joy to watch on the drums, and she really does make it look effortless. I caught one of her drumsticks at the second London show last year, and it took a good beating, I can tell you! It's one of my favourite things in my Lovebites collection, easily.
Haruna is so cute! Some people say that her two bass is amazing for speed, but what's amazing about her is the precise rhythm that doesn't waver, like in this song.
Harupi! ❤ She’s amazing. They all are, but it’s so nice to have a spotlight on her sometimes. I wish they would do more drum cams of her like this. She had all those cameras on her at all the shows, but you really only ever see little snippets. What amazes me is her cymbal work, and her dead on rhythm while doing insane fills. And then yes, crazy stamina and efficiency. She’s a powerhouse. Little Big Engine is her nickname for a reason!

Haruna also took lessons from a drum trainer to improve her drum playing technique and performance form so that she could perform in the future without injury for a long time. The former training is, as Haruna puts it, "to build up the physical strength to continue 2Bass🥁. Haruna says, "In the past, when I got too excited at live concerts, I would unconsciously force myself to hit too hard and hurt myself. Below are the objectives and benefits of the latter drum trainer. By improving his form and even learning how to move his bones, he was able to drum more efficiently with less energy. Miyako has increased the skills he demands with each album, and while Haruna wants to meet these demands, he has also received training and advice to extend his life as a drummer without injury. P.S. The footage was taken before their hiatus, so I imagine they are now playing more efficiently and with fewer injuries. Haruna mentioned that she sings and smiles while performing in order to relax.
Seeing Haruna perform is a sight to behold. I had the pleasure two times in Europe last year. When she leaves the stage after the set, it's not like she hammered the drums for 80 minutes, but just stood up from having some tea and cake...

Love watching her play, i wish she had many more videos like this! 😄 During the lockdown period due to the virus, Haruna took time to improve her playing to be indeed more effective and conserve her energy better since Lovebites plays long shows at high tempos. This has largely to do with her improving her posture while playing, it helps her conserving energy but also helps with not having problems like back pain etc that usually affects drummers as they get older! LOVEBITES also performed at this Festival. The song 'Raise Some Hell' became the main theme song of the video review of this Festival. I also advise you to check out this video (2 minutes long). It is interesting to see that the footage of the performance of JUDAS PRIEST, SAXON, Yngwie Malmsteen and other famous bands was voiced by the song 'Raise Some Hell' by LOVEBITES. MIDORI, FAMI, HARUNA, ASAMI and MIYAKO were very happy about the joy they brought to the audience and how they were cheered on by the people. Experiencing HARUNA's drumming for an entire concert was a revelation for me as a drummer. The best thing was how she came on stage before the encore and smiled happily. Yes, we have heavily featured the Warning in the last year. We find the band, their story, and the quality of songs to be very high. But we also make a point to feature other bands every day as well. We like Lovebites too, and they’ll stay in our rotation for awhile as we catch up on their body of work.

I really like Haruna. But, to be fair, I have to write this. Unfortunately, the information about LOVEBITES posted on Wikipedia often contains errors. Someone posted erroneous information that LOVEBITES was created by Miho and Haruna.But there is no link to the source of this information. Apparently, this information was copied from the article about the band DESTROSE (in Wikipedia), of which Miho (2011-2015) and Haruna (2012-2014) were members. But there are no links to the sources of this information there either. In fact, LOVEBITES was created by Miho. This is stated in several articles and interviews (in Japanese and English-language media) from 2016-2018, including the authoritative Metal Hammer magazine (December 2017). LOVEBITES was Miho's musical project, it was "her dream band", as she said in one of her early interviews. The initiative to create the band was entirely Miho's. What kind of music her new band would play, performing songs only in English, actively promoting the music outside of Japan, participating in the world's largest metal festival 'Wacken Open Air' in Germany (Miho's dream, which came true on August 4, 2018), the stage image (white dresses), the band's mascot Wolf, the cover design of the first album 'Awakening from Abyss' (a Goddess in a white dress, standing with a White Wolf and a banner in her hand on the ruins of a destroyed world), etc. - these were all Miho's ideas. Miho created LOVEBITES and therefore she was the leader of the band throughout her entire time in it (early summer 2016 - August 2021). Haruna was the first one Miho invited to her new band.
Give credit where due to Miho for the idea, the vision, and the foundation. But isn't a band, by definition, a group? The name LOVEBITES is credited to Asami, and the rest of the band members are all elite musicians in their own right ... All indispensable pieces which makes LOVEBITES what it is today.

If you noticed, I didn't even write about Miho's songs, etc. This information does not affect the high assessment (including mine) of the professionalism of the other ladies (Haruna, Midori, Miyako, Asami, Fami), as well as the contribution of each of them to the success of the band. This information allows people to understand that if Miho had not had a dream to create exactly this kind of band (idea, etc.), if Miho had not taken the initiative and started looking for members for the band, then LOVEBITES would not exist today. As for the name "LOVEBITES". I may be wrong, but as far as I know, this name was chosen by all members of the band at one of the rehearsals. The name LOVEBITES was chosen because all the girls thought that it suited Asami's voice better. At that time, the new band had practically no ready-made songs of its own. For this reason, the ladies prepared a repertoire of covers of songs of other bands. For example, the set list of the first concert (August 4, 2016) consisted only of covers (songs by METALLICA, SAXON, MOTORHEAD, KROKUS). The band had a different name - POWERSLAVES. Since Miho is a fan of IRON MAIDEN, then, most likely, the band was originally named after the album 'Powerslave' (1984). Likewise, the band could have been named after any song by any of the bands whose songs the ladies were rehearsing at the time. P.S. My favorite member of the band (since the first days of my acquaintance with the music of LOVEBITES) was and remains Midori. Not Miho.

Of course, without "the 🐺Mother", LOVEBITES would not exist. I'm not comparing the situation with STEVE HARRIS but with JIMMY PAGE. LED ZEPPELIN was JIMMY PAGE's Vision "Ultimately, I wanted Zeppelin to be a marriage of blues, hard rock and acoustic music topped with heavy choruses - a combination that had never been done before. Lots of light and shade in the music". Then, as with MIHO, came the great luck of finding the perfect band members for it. JIMMY PAGE brought the right manager and produced the albums. What is LED ZEPPELIN without JOHN PAUL JONES? ROBERT PLANT? and JOHN BONHAM? there were 4 equal musical champions "Fantastic 4". LOVEBITES were and are 5 equal musical champions "Fantastic 5". It was clear from the first second when MIHO left the band that it wouldn't be the same without her. Sometimes I have the feeling that some people think it would have been better if LOVEBITES had disbanded completely. MIHO's vision lives on and FAMI is the right bassist. For me it would be a dream if MIHO, FAMI and HARUNA would rock out on stage together one day, it would be a new dimension of a Rhythm Section Seminar. MIDORI is your favorite member of LOVEBITES, I think it's a shame that you mostly only write about MIHO in the reactions where she plays the bass. Then out of the blue you give a recommendation that is awesome "Rock Imperium Festival 2024". "YOU" are the living LOVEBITES Encyclopedia and we can all benefit from you, but I don't want too often read your knowledge in difficult discussions and I miss a joy. LOVEBITES is also fun and joy, often discussions are too serious in general. There is a team that defends MIHO from people who don't show respect and that will not change.
It wasn't super technical, just straight ahead rock, but like you said, compact and efficient. I'm not a big fan of drummers who flail about wildly, She did switch from crossed hands to open at one point which was interesting. The video did point up a couple of things I notice about modern metal drumming which is that the hi-hat is always closed, and the drum sounds are probably triggered. You get that clicky bass drum sound which cuts through the mix but just doesn't sound like a bass drum to my ears.
I was thinking at first the high hat was always closed, but in the editing process I noticed it does in fact open ever so slightly. So she does multipurpose with her left foot.

Yes, we have heavily featured the Warning in the last year. We find the band, their story, and the quality of songs to be very high. But we also make a point to feature other bands every day as well. We like Lovebites too, and they’ll stay in our rotation for awhile as we catch up on their body of work.

I really like Haruna. But, to be fair, I have to write this.
Unfortunately, the information about LOVEBITES posted on Wikipedia often contains errors. Someone posted erroneous information that LOVEBITES was created by Miho and Haruna.But there is no link to the source of this information. Apparently, this information was copied from the article about the band DESTROSE (in Wikipedia), of which Miho (2011-2015) and Haruna (2012-2014) were members. But there are no links to the sources of this information there either.
In fact, LOVEBITES was created by Miho. This is stated in several articles and interviews (in Japanese and English-language media) from 2016-2018, including the authoritative Metal Hammer magazine (December 2017). LOVEBITES was Miho's musical project, it was "her dream band", as she said in one of her early interviews.
The initiative to create the band was entirely Miho's. What kind of music her new band would play, performing songs only in English, actively promoting the music outside of Japan, participating in the world's largest metal festival 'Wacken Open Air' in Germany (Miho's dream, which came true on August 4, 2018), the stage image (white dresses), the band's mascot Wolf, the cover design of the first album 'Awakening from Abyss' (a Goddess in a white dress, standing with a White Wolf and a banner in her hand on the ruins of a destroyed world), etc. - these were all Miho's ideas. Miho created LOVEBITES and therefore she was the leader of the band throughout her entire time in it (early summer 2016 - August 2021). Haruna was the first one Miho invited to her new band.

Give credit where due to Miho for the idea, the vision, and the foundation. But isn't a band, by definition, a group? The name LOVEBITES is credited to Asami, and the rest of the band members are all elite musicians in their own right ... All indispensable pieces which makes LOVEBITES what it is today.
@ I wrote what I learned from various sources over the past 4 years. I believe that giving credit to Miho means telling about what Miho did. If you noticed, I didn't even write about Miho's songs, etc.
This information does not affect the high assessment (including mine) of the professionalism of the other ladies (Haruna, Midori, Miyako, Asami, Fami), as well as the contribution of each of them to the success of the band.
This information allows people to understand that if Miho had not had a dream to create exactly this kind of band (idea, etc.), if Miho had not taken the initiative and started looking for members for the band, then LOVEBITES would not exist today.
As for the name "LOVEBITES". I may be wrong, but as far as I know, this name was chosen by all members of the band at one of the rehearsals. The name LOVEBITES was chosen because all the girls thought that it suited Asami's voice better. At that time, the new band had practically no ready-made songs of its own. For this reason, the ladies prepared a repertoire of covers of songs of other bands. For example, the set list of the first concert (August 4, 2016) consisted only of covers (songs by METALLICA, SAXON, MOTORHEAD, KROKUS). The band had a different name - POWERSLAVES. Since Miho is a fan of IRON MAIDEN, then, most likely, the band was originally named after the album 'Powerslave' (1984). Likewise, the band could have been named after any song by any of the bands whose songs the ladies were rehearsing at the time.
P.S. My favorite member of the band (since the first days of my acquaintance with the music of LOVEBITES) was and remains Midori. Not Miho.

It was clear from the first second when MIHO left the band that it wouldn't be the same without her.
Sometimes I have the feeling that some people think it would have been better if LOVEBITES had disbanded completely. MIHO's vision lives on and FAMI is the right bassist.
For me it would be a dream if MIHO, FAMI and HARUNA would rock out on stage together one day, it would
be a new dimension of a Rhythm Section Seminar.
MIDORI is your favorite member of LOVEBITES, I think it's a shame that you mostly only write about MIHO in the reactions where she plays the bass.

"YOU" are the living LOVEBITES Encyclopedia and we can all benefit from you, but I don't want too often read your knowledge in difficult discussions and I miss a joy.
LOVEBITES is also fun and joy, often discussions are too serious in general.
There is a team that defends MIHO from people who don't show respect and that will not change.
It wasn't super technical, just straight ahead rock, but like you said, compact and efficient. I'm not a big fan of drummers who flail about wildly, She did switch from crossed hands to open at one point which was interesting. The video did point up a couple of things I notice about modern metal drumming which is that the hi-hat is always closed, and the drum sounds are probably triggered. You get that clicky bass drum sound which cuts through the mix but just doesn't sound like a bass drum to my ears.
I was thinking at first the high hat was always closed, but in the editing process I noticed it does in fact open ever so slightly. So she does multipurpose with her left foot.
