- Heavy rains were present during my trip to Pittsburgh, but look at some of these cool shots of the light rail!!
The Pittsburgh Light Rail (commonly known as The T) is a 26.2-mile (42.2 km) light rail system in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and surrounding suburbs. It operates as a deep-level subway in Downtown Pittsburgh, but runs mostly at-grade in the suburbs south of the city. The system is largely linear in a north-south direction, with one terminus just north of Pittsburgh's central business district and two termini in the South Hills. The system is owned and operated by the Port Authority of Allegheny County. It is the successor system to the streetcar network formerly operated by Pittsburgh Railways, the oldest portions of which date to 1903. The Pittsburgh light rail lines are vestigial from the city's streetcar days, and is one of only three light rail systems in the United States that continues to use the Pennsylvania Trolley (broad) gauge rail on its lines instead of 4 ft 8+1⁄2 in (1,435 mm) standard gauge. Pittsburgh is one of the few North American cities that have continued to operate light rail systems in an uninterrupted evolution from the first-generation streetcar era, along with Boston, Cleveland, New Orleans, Newark, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Toronto. ~Wikipedia

I love the light rail in Pittsburgh. Especially how it turns to an underground subway downtown. But I just wish they'd expand the system.
I think they want to extend the system north of downtown.
They plan to truncate the Library Branch (Silver Line) to Washington Junction and eventually terminate the South Hills Village Branch (Red and Blue Lines) there as well.
It's a mini-Manhattan in the downtown... Two rivers and one island between
The light rail cars look very modern sort of like the ones in Philadelphia built by Kawasaki in the 80s and are still in service today amazing video.
Tim, I went to Pittsburgh three years ago and I took the light rail to Heinz Field and the conditions were just like that when I went in ‘19. I must tell you the ride was very interesting. I really liked the light rail up there in Pittsburgh and I was pretty impressed by it.
Thanks for filming those shots in the rain. Your dedication goes above and beyond!
The light rail system in Pittsburgh looks really nice! ;-)
It was upgraded in the early 1980s from the remains of the old Interurbanlines to Donora and Washington Pa built around 1905 and cut back to the Allegheny county line in 1952.
Very very nice video!!! thank you for going to extra mile to get this video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cool!! Interesting video. Sorry the rain was present during your filming. Thanks Tim😀😀♥️♥️
Great video. Didn’t know about this system. Thanks.
Awesome videos. I've got lots of cousins in the Pittsburgh area, and would not know them if I saw them except one. Thanks for sharing!
4:53 St. Anne's is my stop. I like it because all three lines, Red, Blue and Silver stop there. Plus there's a small Park 'n Ride lot just up the hill that nobody knows about.
reminds me of philly a bit (i live in philly)
Cool Railroad operations
Cool 👍
Awesome 👍
nice movie my friend, best regards🤝👍
Nice light rail
Is it planned to change low level platform stations to high level?
Some newer vehicles has no steps anymore and are purchased, when a light rail network runs lines, whstr are completely high level platform
No such plans, in fact PAT closed down the Pennet stop on the Beechview line for it needed to be completly rebuilt which under the ADA act would require an upgrade to a high level stop. Rather then spend the money, PAT just closed down the stop.
Here again is where I used to live!
There are some stops with low platforms.
Nice catch 👍👍
Ένα light rail "ποίημα" με ηλεκτροκίνηση, με διπλή γραμμή, με τηλεδιοίκηση σηματοδότηση, με περιποιημένες στάσεις, με πολύ καλά συντηρημένα οχήματα κατασκευάστηκε για να μεταφέρει 1 - 2 επιβάτες; Οικονομικά πως στέκεται αυτή η τεράστια επένδυση στο βασίλειο του καπιταλισμού;
Interesting title ya got there...
Good 💗👍🙂👍
How do you get around to so many places?
super👌.
Will You Include The PATrain And Parkway Limited In Your Pittsburgh Overview?
As of now Pittsburgh's transit is not as complex as others - its lightrail(subway), bus, funicular, and BRT - am I missing anything (aside from AMTRAK/inter city buses?)
The PAT Train was closed in 1989 and there are no plans to reopen the line. The Parkway limited was only operated for less then a year, but given almost no support it was also closed down.
lol clickbait 🤣
How is that clickbait!? Check out the rain in the first few shots and other ones in the video :P
Too many bums hang out at the stops.........
