@@iamlinda100 yes I didn't. It's just visually beautiful coz the casts are beautiful. But I was expecting a deeper dialogues, character exploration of the guy aside from being handsome and nice, like The Reader, you know?

Your reaction to the age difference between Nick and Anne is precisely the kind of problem that the movie was trying to address, it deals with the problem of our society, the sexism and ageism and double standards that people have towards older women who date younger men. Older men date younger women all the time, there are alot of older men-younger women relationships with big age gaps and usually people don't care about that. But when the opposite happens, when an older woman dates a younger man suddenly it becomes scandalous, when it should not be. Why is it ok for older men to date younger women, but not older women dating younger men? This type of double standard is disgusting. What is so wrong with 2 consenting adults falling in love and dating each other? In the movie Hayes was 24, he's a grown adult capable of making his own choices, he wasn't a child. He and Solene are just 2 grown adults falling in love, and society were being unnecessarily cruel & unfair to them. The movie is trying to show that their age difference should not be a problem. In reality Nick is even older, he's almost 30, why do you find their age gap so "disgusting"? He's 29, not 19.
@@iamlinda100 well wouldn't you feel disgusted if your mom dating your friend or your senior? The same applied when our dad dates our friend. It's not sexist. It's just inappropriate. So the movie should've dived deeper into the characters and emotional exploration to counter that inappropriateness to show us the moral of the story, instead of just the sexualization and beauty. Now I can say they just sell the beauty of the casts.. Sorry!
The Reader and Atonement could've been disgusting stories if not written well with deep dialogues and character exploration.

I can't believe they made him read that cringe book 😬🤦🏻♀️ the movie is not that bad but I don't think I'll watch it again, the best was Nick singing, the music and Coachella scenes, the rest is mehh, for all the hype and insane amount of promotion they did I expected much more, just my opinion 🤷🏻♀️
