I'm a professional game programmer who lives on a farm in the mountains with my wife who raises our own food. I still love dmc and its influence has forever changed me. I'd recommend very hard, mission 16's crystal skull room. Sloths on very hard have a lot of hp, but won't devil trigger making it very good for practice.
What I have noticed about DMC4 is your position next to the enemy in the air is more important. Sometimes you have to actually adjust your position mid combo. (In Nero's case this is a snatch, in Dante's case it could be a sky star or something) So, launches and setups are important. In regards to more hand videos, I have two on my page. One for Dante showing style move JC's, another showing Vergil gameplay.

I really thought Broly2012 and Kamuimoon are the ones who made tutorials for JCing. =P Great effort, man! Something that I learn from Kamui that actually made me less of an amateur (even though I still am xD) in Aerial Rave rebounds and JC'd attacks for that matter is to notice the flash that happens when an attack connects and the yells that Dante and Vergil make during that moment. It's funny. All that "Hyah!"s and "Hah--!" get stuck in my head after much practices. xD

You can jump cancel any move where Dante / Vergil's feet are off the ground or leave the ground. So yes, you can jump cancel aerial rave with Yamato. Check out my Mission 6 hands video to see an example of aerial raves being JC'd.
@Zonagle thanks. after a lots of differnet dmc3 game installations i found one what it have all the movements only rest learn all of them thanks again.
Tip: I used X for jump, Square for melee weapons and triangle for shots, this really helped me and now I use the default control without problem.(I hope this help.)
Hey this is great tutorial stuff. I'm practicing right now but let me tell you something. Instead of practicing with statues in mission 13 I found a great place in mission 14 in the top obsidian path. There there are a LOT of statues and they always respawn after you reenter the room. It is very convenient, really. Thanks again for this. I aspire to reach pro level and with this my first steps n n
I hear what you're sayin about DMC4's timing, it is awkward... but notice I don't exactly cover timing in this video either, that's more up to the player to learn. There's so many attacks and variations of timing to do different things to cover them all is ridiculous. (For example you can have regular swings, or DT swings. Raves to purposely fall, or purposely gain height. 1, 2, or 3 hit flicker cancels... etc. This applies to DMC3 and 4.) (continued in next post)
I don't think I'll be doing a similar tutorial for DMC4 because most of the data from this tutorial actually carries over to 4. I just recently started playing 4 and beat DMD in a day, so I'm not nearly as experienced in 4 as I am in 3, but from what I could tell the jump canceling mechanics are the same. There's no crazy combos so you can only buffer charged moves, and switch canceling is still there, but it seems to be better to just go back and forth between swordmaster and darkslayer.
@GooD3663 Of course you can do jump canceling on PC. ALL of the footage you just saw was recorded on the PC version of DMC3. I use a game pad (as shown in the video) but there's some weird glitches with the keyboard. I've never had the keyboard work for me because it somehow registers double inputs (like when you press attack it also registers jump at the same time). I don't know. I've talked to others with the same problem and could never fix it, so I recommend a game pad.
Nice, the last part(delay between the launch and the swing), is it related to part 1's buffering? after switching with launch, mash the attack to buffer the swing to make it go off earlier?
@justinnn971 It's called DT Flux, or charging your DT. If you hold DT and let go when the magic meter is all flashing red, you'll do MASSIVE damage. The top most damaging attack in the game imo
I hate to ask, but can you do a quick DMC4 tutorial on jump cancelling? The timing seems REALLY awkward, I can't seem to get a grip of it. I'd also appreciate some more hand demonstrations with your button configuration shown for both characters too. Thanks.

@nightelfph That is actually a Logitech PC gamepad "Dual action" ... apparently an older model of it because logitech.com doesn't seem to have it like that anymore.
are you using the pc version? if thats the case ,DT's on ps2 (only) has an elecric kinda glow. Red on Rebellion,Blue on Cerberus, Orange on Agni & Rudra, Purple on Nevan and White on Beowulf... oh and for special edition: white for Vergil and nothing on Nelo Angelo. Well pc ver. is kinda cool too , you can see clearly the details of the devil triggers.

@polloxkun Learn to shorten the time between your jump(JC) and attack. You basically cannot hit attack too fast after jump canceling for most attacks. I use the "worm" technique with my thumb to do this, you can setup a custom configuration or try the sliding method. Do what works for you. Just find a way to get those inputs extremely close together.
@nelson08666 I know this is a bit late since you posted over a month ago, but perhaps this will help anyway. The problem you're having is a common problem on the PC version of DMC. It was fixed with patches that were released later. Do a simple google for DMC 3 patches and you'll find what you need. There should be two patches, one for 1.1, and another for 1.3. Simply patch your game and all the keyboard commands will function like they should.
For beginning I'd suggest turning turbo off. You need to practice going from pressing jump to pressing attack very quickly. You want to go from jump to attack within like 1 - 2 frames of each other for most jump canceling. Check out my video "Mission 6 Hands" to see full speed jump canceling. On default controls your thumb does a worm like motion :P

Ok I know this is late, but when you have swordmaster style, you can throw rebellion at the enemy, and while it's stuck to the enemy dante will use his punches and kicks (unless you switch weapons).

There is no "correct" configuration, just do what works for you. I learned the opposite as you so I don't know what to tell you about using the joystick... Just point the stick where you wanna go? :P

No, in fact as stated before I found it harder to do this on the pc version. Ps2 version works just fine.

A jump cancel (jc) is merely something that cancels an attack that is already initiated, therefor the style input would come first.

Does Jump cancelling work in DMC1? I wanna beat that game first before I go to the 3rd one cause the combat is alot simpler.
I know this reply is a late but nope, you cant. Dante still has enemy step in DMC1 but it dosent cancel attacks like it does in later games.

RoyalGuard style. If you block with it, you can then go and "release" that damage you would have taken in the form of a punch.

Sounds to me like you're running into the keyboard port problem so many people have had.
My suggestion: get a game pad.
