As a previous owner of both a 1st gen V45 magna and a 84 V65 Sabre I can personally speak to how GREAT the V series bikes from Honda were. They were truly magnificent bikes. Mind blowing acceleration on both the 750cc and 1100cc. They just pulled like a freight train through every gear. Both of mine suffered from the common 2nd gear issue. Anyone who has ever owned one most likely knows what I'm talking about. Hard acceleration in first gear and shift into second and it grabs second but kicks you out and be ready for a bit of wobble as a result but learn to shift from first to third and it still pulls hard. I would love to own another one. Unfortunately most of the ones I find for sale are either in pristine condition and way out of my price range or they've been sitting in a garage for 25+ years and they need a complete overhaul. John McMeans you are the dummy. 83 v65 was 116 HP. 1985 vmax was 145. Those are crank HP. Most v65 had about 100 to 105 to the tire and a vmax had 110 to 115 to the tire. Learn your facts before calling someone a dummy. Moron

No to gra.
Zadales pytanie wiec udziele konkretnej odpowiedzi. Jesli chcesz Magne to rozgladaj sie za 1100 gdyz 750 sa slabsze i trzeba to krecic zeby "jechac" Jesli chodzi o 1100 to masz wybor najwczesniejszej wersji(najmocniejszej) oraz tej po malym "lifcie"(ja taka wlasnie mam). Wczesne modele maja inne gazniki i oferuja troche lepsze osiagi aczkolwiek kazda Magna 1100 o ile nie jest skastrowana(a byly takie wersje) to mocny i batrdzo dynamiczny sprzet. Wczesne wersje roznia sie rowniez felgami. Pozniejsze wersje mialy rzekomo montowanie poprawione walki rozrzadu z twardszego stopu, ale ponoc tez w tych modelach zdazaly sie przypadki awarii wynikajace z zaniedban serwisowych. OK a wiec w czym rzecz? Scislej mowiac chodzi o walki rozrzadu, ktore moga sie przycierac. Dzis mozna to smialo nazwac "wada konstrukcyjna". W latach 90 bylo kilka firm w USA, ktore oferowaly zestawy akcesoryjnych systemow smarowania glowic do tych V4-rek i jest to dobra "polisa ubezpieczeniowa". Ja kupilem taki system w Kanadzie do swojej za 200 dolarow(+oplaty) i szczerze polecam. Druga typowa przypadlosc to padajace sprzegielko rozrusznika. Amory z tylu wyzionely ducha i w tamtym roku zlecilem firmie Hagon w UK wykonanie amorow pod moje wytyczne wagowe i styl jazdy z pasazerem. Zmiana odczuwalna z miejsca !

Learning not needed here.I assure you i can shift a lot quicker. Those bikes are 30 yo and both gearboxes are very specific(a bit clunky and some wear)Shifting the way all those people suggest would sometimes not even get in in the gear(experienced many times) .If you rode lots of old bikes(like me) you probably know what i mean by that. I can feel that in my Magna quite distinctively. The gears don't just nicely click in when ridden hard and revving high. Some of the people commenting here have no bloody clue about that. You wouldn't shift a high mileage bike with notchy/clunky box same way as a brand new R1 or Blade with silky smooth box would you? I had about a dozen comments about shifting and it really makes me wonder is it because people seriously have no clue of that or because they know well but fancy some trolling.
That's good. I hope u also now what i'm talking about referring to high miles bikes and clunky gear boxes that require shifting in somewhat specific way.

@@allanmcelroy9840 I did that one time. But my problem was I sold Carborator's to sabre. Thought ill just use mine from v65 magna. Well u need the bigger carb's. Just a thought!
They only seem to have cam issues if you work the bag off them constantly. I have an 84 sabre 750 and an 85 magna 1100. They are both amazing bikes. My younger brother has an 84 magna 750 and same thing dead reliable
Sweet bike, I like that transparent clutch cover!
nice bike i got the v45 im currently doin a restoration on , these are really neat bikes.
ARKANSAS Trey true they are awsome but suffer from heads problems. Cams can get pitted due to oil starvation so good oil and regular changes are vital.
take it from a bike mech, these bikes are reliable when in tune but very susceptible to premature cam wear, if you have to own one, buy an 86 model, for whatever reason thats the best year! good luck with parts!
Neil Liberty The cam problems happened to me.The bike was out of warranty.Thankfully I was working at a Honda dealer or I would have been out of luck.I was drag racing a CB1100F when it happened
.
Once did 140 mph on it...... once was enough. Love the V65...miss mine.
just bought one getting back into riding after over 10 years.
Next is a vrf or zx14 but I always liked these so....2800 bucks.
I owned 2 V65's a 1983 and a 1984 it was king until 1985 when the Yamaha V max came out with its 150 HP. But the V65 had 2 features i liked over the V max, 1 was the V65 had a 6 gear overdrive, also the V65 was shaft drive, the V max was not. New the V65 cost $3500,
Newton Washinton VMAX was shaft drive. Lol
John McMeans I own and love v65s but no, it wasn't.
John McMeans dude... I have rode them both. I have rode with vmaxes.... No.. it wasn't
John McMeans you are the dummy. 83 v65 was 116 HP. 1985 vmax was 145. Those are crank HP. Most v65 had about 100 to 105 to the tire and a vmax had 110 to 115 to the tire. Learn your facts before calling someone a dummy. Moron
John McMeans my lands? Learn to spell before trying to debate something you no nothing about.
I owned the V65 back around 85 and loved it. Top speed was 265k if I remember. Great video!
I had the 1984 Sabre.v65
He never did give lovely bike the jam
I hit 150mph in Quebec city on a track with my Saber back in the day.
I beleive I hit a hundred thirty five mph on mine back in the day .I had an 83 v65 magna burgundy in colour and it also had a recall for some internal part which was covered .
great motorcycle, and amazing window clutch, congratulations :)
Jose Luis Rodriguez thanks bud, really appreciate !
+adikxx83 your welcome, and i have one ;) :D
I just got one for a 100 bucks needs a total overhual think i should do it?
I just got back from look a this same bike, non running. Need new tires, pads, fuel. Paint is rough aka rhino lined, guy is asking 1500 CAD. Not to sure if it's worth it in my eyes but
it does look nice.
i had a 1984, and when accelerating, the shifted from first gear into the second gear, it would bind.
it just had a real problem shifting into second gear when accelerating, and had to ride it like an old lady for it to shift smoothly.
getting into the freeway was really aggravating.
do you have any issues with the shifting ?
No issues with shifting on my bike
Fastest production bike in 1983 when Pee Wee Gleason test rode it. Yamaha beat it in 1984 when the VMax came out.
sldl04 1985
But Yamaha had to go to 1200cc to do it. Miss my 1984 V65 Magna!
95R1100R jasne! Z przyjemnoscia! Pozdrawiam
No to gra.
I had a v65 Sabre the Sabre was 121 hp and the Magna was 116hp the difference was in the exhaust system!
Zadales pytanie wiec udziele konkretnej odpowiedzi.
Pozniejsze wersje mialy rzekomo montowanie poprawione walki rozrzadu z twardszego stopu, ale ponoc tez w tych modelach zdazaly sie przypadki awarii wynikajace z zaniedban serwisowych.
OK a wiec w czym rzecz? Scislej mowiac chodzi o walki rozrzadu, ktore moga sie przycierac. Dzis mozna to smialo nazwac "wada konstrukcyjna".
W latach 90 bylo kilka firm w USA, ktore oferowaly zestawy akcesoryjnych systemow smarowania glowic do tych V4-rek i jest to dobra "polisa ubezpieczeniowa". Ja kupilem taki system w Kanadzie do swojej za 200 dolarow(+oplaty) i szczerze polecam. Druga typowa przypadlosc to padajace sprzegielko rozrusznika.
Amory z tylu wyzionely ducha i w tamtym roku zlecilem firmie Hagon w UK wykonanie amorow pod moje wytyczne wagowe i styl jazdy z pasazerem. Zmiana odczuwalna z miejsca !
This is an absolutely beautiful Honda Magna and you did a phenomenal job restoring it! Excellent job and thanks so much for sharing - I really love and adore these older vintage Honda's! Do you still have the bike by chance?
Thanks buddy. Yes still have the beauty and no intention to sell. Too rare and awsome to sell👌

Beautiful bike !!
This Magna 65 is a beast..
Love this bike
Awesome bikes, I had an 83. Sorry that I sold it.

Where did you get the windowed clutch cover?
That's an awesome mod!
agit it custom made for me by a guy in Britain. He could do almost any clutch cover mod.I have to say it looks sick
Awesome bike, but he never hit the real power range lol! Everyone that has ridden one knows it is Much faster than this videos shows you.
i owned 3 v-65 1983 . my best bikes but always trouble with cam rockers.expensive to repair
Mine was bone stock and it Dyno 105 horse power to the wheel.
Who built your steel braided brake lines for v65 magna
ou have a choice of Goodridge or HEL
By looking at the controls (high beam, turn, choke, start) that's an 86 not an 84.
Where did you get the transparent clutch cover? 😮
It was custom made for me
@@Adikxx Doh! I hoped it would be purchasable somewhere.

Hehe. Pozdrawiam serdecznie.
Where did you buy the see-through clutch cover? I would like to know please. Thank you.
Earl McDonald Hi. There is a guy here in the UK who makes custom window covers for almost any motorcycle. You send him your cover and he makes it to order within 4 weeks.
Here is the link to one of his listings.

i have the v65 sabre 84 it's 121 horse power i have had motorcycle tell me in there opinion the sabre is faster it's more of a sport bike
Wonder how this compares to the vmax?
It’s not a chopper.
The handlebar is not centered...

i do not like the factory handlebars. wider aftermarket handlebars are much better for handling

Learn how to shift, you lost those races, not the bike!!
I had about a dozen comments about shifting and it really makes me wonder is it because people seriously have no clue of that or because they know well but fancy some trolling.
adikxx83 I have an '84 V65 Sabre that I've had since new, so I do know what I'm talking about. Before that I raced MX for 10 yrs.
That's good. I hope u also now what i'm talking about referring to high miles bikes and clunky gear boxes that require shifting in somewhat specific way.
adikxx83 I do know what a clunky gearbox feels like, I ride a 2013 Harley Street Glide now, haha. Happy riding, be safe!!
I'd love HD, maybe some day i will afford:) Thanks bud, take care.
