Canelo needed a cleaner and faster way to get in and out of range, he needed to land with power to the body more convincingly from the inside. Bivols jab is excellent and this was the main problem for Canelo in this fight. Bivol was timing the jab perfectly all night but this is no criticism of Canelo here, it's just that Bivol's combination of movement, speed, power and near perfect natural timing is, in a word 'Phenomenal'. I'm not sure how anybody copes with all that Bivol brings to the table, indeed perhaps it is only Beterbiev that will present Bivol with a significant challenge, only time will tell . . .
This fight reminds me of Hearns vs. Duran. The exchange where Duran gets knocked out, Duran is on the ropes, slips a few punches, the problem was Hearns threw over thirty punches then finally knocked Duran out. Nice break down on this fight. Please watch Teddy's other video: "Anatomy of a fixed fight". Carnelow's people tried to buy off the judges, didn't work.
If Canelo uses the jab it will make it worse because Bivol has good range fighting. And it may lead to a jab competition which Bivol will win bse of his reach. Also he will get countered on his jab bse of Bivols range management. That's why he didn't use the jab so that Bivol would lose his range and come in too close
Technical breakdown is that Canelo is too small for 175. he was throwing as hard as he could and it was just bouncing of Bivol and those are the same punches that almost broke Callum's arm
Just wanted to add how Bivol had impeccable defense. He gave Canelo nothing to hit all night and anytime he tried to smash through he was met with well timed counter shots mostly off Canelos right hand. Bivol is the man now until someone beats him
Huge comment..guy knows the matter. I agree 100%; even more I think Biv could hurt Cane even more against the ropes, when Canelo call for more dropping hands after getting a bunch of head power shots...Dont get me wrong, but Biv gave him a break to show more dominance in te coming rounds. Period.
@ Last chance. Can you explain how would Canelo beat a guy who demolished him? Bivols too much for Canelo. They tried to rob Bivol but Bivol fought excellent in the championship rounds. The only way Canelo will beat Bivol is with help from the powers that be.
I wanna add a little as well. I hope this makes sense as well. Canelo's defense had a lot of variations to it was they were all the same type for the most part. He can defend but is not able to counter. The riding of the punch you were talking about. He did it well. The dodging the the jabs without using his hand, all good but he was never in control of that fight to use any of that. When others dragged me though the mud for saying Canelo isn't a great fighter, this is what I meant and Floyd would embarrass him again too. His ego is to great to understand when to switch up the defense type and switch to one that allows you to counter. Open up the body more and the those walls down. Then you can put him to sleep. I bet if he fights him again, he will not do this again.
Teddy never liked Canelo...those are facts. Canelo went up in weight class and lost plain and simple. He's gotta stay at 160-168 and fight those fights. He bite off more than he can chew but In my opinion he took a huge risk and now know that there is weight classes for a reason.
As a boxing fan, I think, if Alverez used his jab Moore, the fight would hv been much closer. Everything comes off the jab. Piwer punches on a 170 + figjter is less effective. No matter how hard Alverez tries, he's not Sugar, Roy, or Duran.
Damn I didn't know anything about this bivol situation. He clearly beat canelo but the way canelo was acting I thought he was gonna win. He's an absolute legend and bivol came out and put it on em..lol hell yeah I'm here for it
And people thought Canelo could beat Beterbiev lol. He can't run from Benavidez any longer. Every time Canelo loses, there is always excuses. His fans can never admit another fighter was just better.
Canelo relies too much on his uppercut and hooks to the body when he goes on the offensive, that didn’t work on Bivol, therefore he ran out of options to take him on. It’s not like he could’ve adjusted and started throwing jabs and more volume, at that point he would’ve simply gassed out. Canelo didn’t even have a plan b, plan b should’ve been upper body movement, jab and combination punches, lots of that, but he couldn’t do it because that’s a cardio intensive plan, Canelo couldn’t pull that off at 185+ lbs come fight night, too heavy to keep pace. Bivol was just better prepared, better defense, excellent stamina, accurate, just everything, Canelo wasn’t on his level that night, simple as that.

Bivol did not feel any power punch of Canelo. The Canelo power punch and body shot is very an average level at 175. I can name easy 10 guys at 175 have more power than Canelo. Kovalev without the hydration clause would win against Canelo. Kovalev was drained ASF

Bivol was timing the jab perfectly all night but this is no criticism of Canelo here, it's just that Bivol's combination of movement, speed, power and near perfect natural timing is, in a word 'Phenomenal'.
I'm not sure how anybody copes with all that Bivol brings to the table, indeed perhaps it is only Beterbiev that will present Bivol with a significant challenge, only time will tell . . .
Spot on 👌
This fight reminds me of Hearns vs.
I love Teddy Atlas! He tells it like it is.
Teddy you pick Conelo to win, and again you we're wrong.
Best boxing channel on UA-cam! Thank you, Mr. Atlas.
Bivol was countering with the left hook in the middle of Canelas combos & that screwed him good
Intresting breakdown. Thanks Teddy.
Teddy "In hindsight I am always right" Atlas
2 things that stood out for bivol were his ring generalship and his toughness
Teddy you need to break down the youtube creator clash fights. That would be so funny
Technical breakdown is that Canelo is too small for 175. he was throwing as hard as he could and it was just bouncing of Bivol and those are the same punches that almost broke Callum's arm
This is it, doesn’t need a big explanation, bigger stronger guy won
Scorecards should have been 117-111 116-110 MD for Bivol
Canelo fought the same fight, he always fight, so no excuses 😤😴😒😂🤣🙄😤
Not always. Even against plant he threw way more jabs when plant shelled up on the ropes while pivoting to land the left hook.
@@pandabear1576 because plant is weak. When you have accurate punching like bivol and mayweather, you can keep canelo off of you.
Go watch Bivol fights, he had fought bigger and stronger fighters. He neutralized every one of them.
He punched canelo more , that’s how he won lol
😂
Lol
I spit out my drink when I saw the posters of Bivol and do Bronx
Canelo Stan’s face it ya boy lost been watching Bivol for a spell dude is nice with it nelo out classes an boxxed
Those judges gave canelo points on punches that looked like they landed when they didn't. Dimitri looked clean after the fight
Just wanted to add how Bivol had impeccable defense. He gave Canelo nothing to hit all night and anytime he tried to smash through he was met with well timed counter shots mostly off Canelos right hand. Bivol is the man now until someone beats him
Tell that to Bivols arms...
Bivol baffled Canelo with his unique style. Bivol has a hybrid style of boxing and martial arts.
Bivol studies meticulously of Canelo's previous fights and stick to his game plans and also he commits less mistakes
It's funny how everybody said he only has 1-2 nothing else but if you believe in your self And your skills must be really good 100%.
Master the basics and you'll be hard to beat.
And remember, a good jab will take you around the world 👊🏻
I thought he was gonna get caught when he kept doing the backstroke
Canelo was a punching bag... Couldn't adjust. He's a paper champ.
Paper champ. Nice.
sometimes the bigger man just wins. lightheavy might be too big for canelo. He's a middleweight
Period.
Bivol out classed and out boxed canelo. It's as simple as that but I believe the rematch would be a totally different fight
Finally! Someone who doesn’t jump all over the loss like it’s the end of Canelo’s career! Thank you for having an unbiased and intelligent opinion.
@ Last chance. Can you explain how would Canelo beat a guy who demolished him? Bivols too much for Canelo. They tried to rob Bivol but Bivol fought excellent in the championship rounds. The only way Canelo will beat Bivol is with help from the powers that be.
@@666blindrider that Mexican beef and that one judge who judged the Golovkin fight would give a W to Cinnabun.
The weight was what messed up Canelo, he put on weight to fight Bivol and it tired him out but even with that Bivol couldn't hurt Canelo.
There are people who doesn't like Mexican boxers and this person is one of them period
Teddy never liked Canelo...those are facts. Canelo went up in weight class and lost plain and simple. He's gotta stay at 160-168 and fight those fights. He bite off more than he can chew but In my opinion he took a huge risk and now know that there is weight classes for a reason.
Teddy please do a video on eddie hearn not paying bivol because he beat the cash cow
Thats better keep it short so people watch this channel. Otherwise these videos over 1 hour to a working man ain't going to happen
If over an our analysis for a good fight is too much for you, then maybe boxing isn’t for you either…you might like Tiktok short clips.
I've watched the fight 3 times, and I cannot see ONE clean punch that Canelo landed on Bivol's head. Body, yes. Head...none.
Canelo threw a hard uppercut that connected,I guess you need glasses. So he lost, big deal.He is still reigns middleweight division
@@FernandoLopez-cl5nx Ya, You're right. I went back. It was a good one, I missed it
You are wrong, he landed 1.
As a boxing fan, I think, if Alverez used his jab Moore, the fight would hv been much closer. Everything comes off the jab. Piwer punches on a 170 + figjter is less effective. No matter how hard Alverez tries, he's not Sugar, Roy, or Duran.
The only way Canelo could get anywhere near Bivol was to back onto the ropes and wait for him to come forward into close quarters. Didn't work
NO TO REMATCH. Done.
Damn I didn't know anything about this bivol situation. He clearly beat canelo but the way canelo was acting I thought he was gonna win. He's an absolute legend and bivol came out and put it on em..lol hell yeah I'm here for it
who is the other guy in the video an why is he even in it? he clearly has nothing to say
And people thought Canelo could beat Beterbiev lol. He can't run from Benavidez any longer. Every time Canelo loses, there is always excuses. His fans can never admit another fighter was just better.
Say it louder, you talking too low, they not listening, will you please speak up.
They so hurt, with more excuses 😪😒🙄😔😴🤣😪😒🙄😔😴🤣😪😒🙄😔😴🤣😪😒🙄😔😴🤣😪😒🙄😔😴🤣😪😒🙄😔😴🤣😪😒🙄
I think he has a better chance to beat beterbiev then Bivol is fast and powerful and got skills on top of that just a bad matchup for Canelo
@@thekoking4204 Beterbiev would walk through Canelo's punches. They had lil effect on Bivol.
@@Cochise954 Beterbiev hits like mf heavyweight, no way canelo finishes 12 rds on his feet with that kind of power
Bivol wasn't scared of Canelo's power and he knew that his speed, fundemeltals and reactions were better. GGG vs Canelo 3 next at 168, GGG wins.
GGG stops him in the 3rd fight. He looks way stronger and keeps punching.
I was waiting on a fight plan for Charlo vs castano 2
Why didn't you Do a fight plan on Charlo vs Costaño!!
canelo is flat footed. always has been. any boxer with great footwork and a jab will box him out.
so many fools thought he has greatly improved since floyd when in reality his opponents just got a lot worse. Always been a flat footed plodder.
Stop saying flat footed and then great footwork in contrast with one another. Ggg is flat footed and he has elite footwork so does Canelo.
Facts. He doesn’t have the stamina for footwork
Before the fight he predicted knock out for Canelo.
Yes, the so called expert hopping the hype train.
Teddy should talk about why Eddie Hearn and Canelo's people don't want to pay Bivol for destroying Canelo .
Atlas, when are you going to analyse Charlos fight ?
Rematch and Bivol got bigger 💰💰💰 🥊🥊🥊 ...... just do it 💪💪.
I love this two Russian : Bivol & Beterbiev 🥊🥊. 175 should be the hottest division.
Easy for bivol to beat canelo easy man easy...
Hey big fella always like your comments on any fight just love to ask you something out of left field about a completely differant fight tim tyzu first fight in the states an your opinion do you think he can take the winner of charlo an castano
Bivol stayed busier and controlled the fight with the jab. Every time Canelo was going to set something up he had a jab in his face disrupting him.
That guy should’ve did more
Bivol gives you nothing. And he takes away what you have.
If Canelo developed a cross like Andy Ruiz's hard cross that would've been very effective with his hard hooks.
Bivol did not feel any power punch of Canelo. The Canelo power punch and body shot is very an average level at 175. I can name easy 10 guys at 175 have more power than Canelo. Kovalev without the hydration clause would win against Canelo. Kovalev was drained ASF
@@KeboomrangCanelo has hard punches as he's proven against Smith shattering his eye socket. Continuess jabs and a hard cross would have set him up for a punishing hook. Let's not forget Bivol is a very serious boxer to challenge and WBA belt holder. Canelo moving up the rank, two different styles. Bivol boxing on the outside is most affective. Canelo wanted a number 1 fighter not a ranked challenger. Bivol proven the better fighter by points.
He already has one lol. He's koed Kirkland and Khan with it
American the innocent. The boxing match between Canelo and Dimitri Bivol was on May 7, 2022. Canelo is Mexican and is rated the number one in the World. Dimitri Bivol was born in Russia and was the five to one in favour of Canelo. All the boxing professionals - boxers and promoters were 99.9% in favour of Canelo (I selected Bivol). Bivol gave Canelo a boxing lesson that he would forget and won by a unanimous decision. Now, America the 'innocent' refused to allow Bivol to receive his paycheque based on the war between the UKRAINE and RUSSIA and on the other hand America is still buying gas from Russia. The preparations- (negotiations etc) took months to reach a settlement. NOW, WHY WAS HE NOT INFORMED ABOUT THIS LOOPHOLE BEFORE THE FIGHT SINCE THERE WAS ENOUGH TIME TO DO SO?
I HOPE ALL BOXING FANS STAND WITH BIVOL AGAINST THIS INTENTIONAL ROBBERY. I FEEL IF ALL FIGHTS STOP (STRIKE) UNTIL THIS INJUSTICE IS RESOLVED. Together we stand, divided we fall.
Bivol was not fucking born in Russia man. I’m tired of correcting people on this USE FUCKING GOOGLE! Bivol is Central Asian!
@@pandabear1576 У Бивола мама - кореянка, отец молдаванин, родился Дмитрий в Киргизии, но в детсве переехал с семьей в Россию и считает себя русским. А здесь так - считаешь себя русским, значит ты русский.
Doubt Bivol cares about the money he said that look who is saying that blueblood sport and boxingo
Of all the revelant info you provided us, why did you have to put, "I picked bivol" like that pertains to any point you're trying to make?
Crumbling empires lash out ineffectively and incompetently. America is a liar, a bully, a cheater and a thief. Golovkin gave the Irish Mexican brain damage and it’s starting to show.
I think Canelo wanted to counter but was weary of Bivols power
If Canelo wants a rematch, the rematch should be done at Light Heavyweight.
teddy needs to train nelo’s, to unlock nelo’s
too potential
The difference between 7 rounds Bivol/ 5 rounds Alvarez and 6 rounds Bivol/6 rounds Alvarez is one round. That's how close this fight was to being a draw. A draw would have robbed Bivol of a victory. Moreover, the case can be made that the 115-113 score is still a robbery because it robs Bivol of the clear and dominant performance he had by giving Alvarez 5 rounds instead of 3 at the most.
Was reynosos game plan not to used jabs and just throw hard punches to try to ko bivol?
He was expecting to maul Bivol into submission like he did against Plant but Bivol was just too strong and too skilled.
Bivol fought a mistake free, technically perfect fight... I kept trying to tell everybody Bivol was too technically sound for Canelo to just walk through this guy. Canelo needs opponents to make mistakes to capitalize on with counters etc. Bivol ain't that guy.
You knew Canelo was in trouble when he came out looking like Apollo creed!😂
Basically overconfidence veiled over strategic actions in the fight.
It could have gone better but really it wasn’t as good as it was expected to be
