  • Hi there, me again. In today's video, I'll be showing you how to test your C-41 film developing chemicals with a snip test. A snip test uses a small piece of exposed film to test the strength of your developer and blix. The method I will be going over today will allow you to test your developer and blix individually. I hope this video was helpful for you and gives you some peace of mind when you want to use your photo chemicals but aren't sure if they are expired or not. Okay that's all. Bye now!

Great video! I use my local camera store to develop/scan my film, but in the future when I begin to develop my own, this will come in handy

Super informative for once I get into developing my own film! When the developer expires, do you expect to see less opaqueness?

Yeah the test strip that’s in the developer will become lighter and more transparent when the developer is going bad

how do I test it on a kit with bleach and fixer seperate instead of blix?

That’s a good question! I’ve never used chemicals that use a separate bleach and fixer. I bet googling the brand of chemicals and snip test will get you some results! My guess is you could run a snip through the bleach and fix process and it should look like my blix snip afterward
