    I would like to add the point that while teaching mands with someone who is still growing their verbal skills, we should teach using as few words as possible. for instance instead of, "I want the ball" I would just teach "ball." This makes the behavior less effortful and encourages that behavior over a more challenging behavior.

    Please don't use "maladaptive" behavior/s. It is VERY adaptive for the individual exhibiting said behavior. ;)
    As you said at approx 01:44, "Without a strong manding repertoire, we tend to see clients maladaptive behaviors increase as they find ways to gain access to items they want." You said it right there "... as they find ways to gain access to items they want." They adapted because they did not have the skill before they learned to mand.
