  • Canada lost 17,000 jobs in May, pushing the unemployment rate up to 5.2 per cent, according to a Statistics Canada report released Friday morning. The decline is primarily driven by the loss of 77,000 jobs among youth aged 15 to 24.

    From reddit
Brother is friends with one of Mississauga Tim Horton managers. She told him resumes from kids born in Canada (all skin colors) goes straight to bin they prefer international students. Reasons: Canadians take too many breaks, its hard to boss them around, they know their rights, they don't need PR so hard to blackmail them, they don't work extra hours in need, etc. Conclusion: Due to too much labor supply companies looking for slaves not employees. Am sure government is well aware of it too but they don't give a foook

The job pre-requirements are stupidly exaggerated. A lot of these entry-level positions should not even require a degree or basic post-secondary education.
What these employers need to do is fund their own on the job training courses. And if the employee wants to climb up the echelon pyramid, then I can see Post-Secondary education being necessary.

What the student rep is saying here is completely at odds with every employer I speak with. No one can find enough workers, no one. And the ones that do want to work only want very specific hours at a higher rate of pay than the employer can afford. I do not understand where the disconnect is?

Typical statement said by boomers who have zero clue what the current job market is like, because they haven’t applied for a job since 1985.
People with internship experience and high GPAs aren’t even getting callbacks. Many grads have swallowed their pride and even applied for minimum wage positions, and still cant find anything. In the interview it literally says entry level positions get 1000 applicants within minutes, which is true because I see it as a new grad.
“No OnE wAnTs To WoRk” I dare you to quit your job and find quickly find employment if you really think its that easy. And if you’re retired then you have absolutely no right speaking on the current job market.
