For me as a Pump it up (DDR competion) player the gym its extremely important for me to improve stamina and leg strength cause playing high end songs its very exhausting, drills,twists,footswitches all of them takes skills and with skills takes a toll on your stamina, thats why i train to be better, leg exercises are painful but very rewarding and cardio its a must always
This is where I actually don't agree with this video. (side note I've been working out for almost 3 years) I feel like the gym is its own separate thing to mania due to mania having. A. More complexity, B its more technique and coordination, Stamina is a endurance based of the certain technique you are basing it off meaning that the gym stamina will not transfer over since its a completely different way of using your muscles. So if you are working out for mania please don't waste your time. Work out for your health and overall wellbeing or any other reason than mania
I have been going to the gym for 3 years doing strict diet and trainning from my coach, i do bodybuilding and imo the gym is good for stamina and the capability to percieve patterns in game (the motor movement used while working out helps neuronal conecctions as shown in studies) but most of the time i didnt wanna grind or just was too tired to do a good session in mania because of the gym, so bodybuilding will most likely not improve ur resistence aka stamina in this case much compared to what u could achieve just grinding the game itself, so if ur goal is to get better at the game rather than focusing on the gym go for a trainning based around resistence (cardio, high rep exercises and forearm exercises) in the gym or just calisthenics. This is just my opinion although im not the best mania player tbh top 10k was my peak and then i left for like 2 years, i do know what im talking abt when it comes to hypertrophy and the gym atleast
from my experience it depends more on which muscles you actually use when playing a certain rhythm game. Gym helped me with improving my stamina but I exercised only like forearm muscles for osu. It could be a nice video to make about which muscles need to be strong with different techniques in different rhythm games

Can confirm that exercise helps you in mania. I run a lot daily (usually 45 mins but up to 80 at once) and I've progressed really quickly to 4-digit
