- At Silobration, Chip and Jo sat down to chat about her new book-and we wanted to share the conversation with you! Jo talks about the power of writing down your story, how to let go of the weights that hold you back, and giving yourself grace in the process. Get your copy of Jo's new memoir, The Stories We Tell, available November 8th.
Joanna, your button story is the best, because all of us can relate to it. Your button sweetness and authenticity is what keeps us all real.
"Letting go reveals what else our arms are meant to carry". Thank you joanna
Thinking Chip and his apparent ability to be his silly/smart/playful self has helped Joanna understand that perfection is NOT the goal.
Joanna: I’m hoping that after you read the book you will be inspired to write your own story.
For as they say everyone has a story and they all matter.
Joanna and Chip you are such an inspiration.
God bless your family and your story. ❤️🙏👆🏼
Oh and Chip would love to hear more of your story!!
I love both so much..they did alot for Waco- 🕊🧡🕊

Mr. Chip that was such a Beautiful thing to say about the mother she was to them ❤
This was such a special evening, thank you so much for having us and sharing your story. So many good nuggets of wisdom to hold on to. You brought a few tears to my eyes as I could relate to what you were saying, especially the mom guilt! I can’t wait to read the whole book!
Such Raw Truth and a Reminder too Only Allow God to shape & form us. Too truly Live or Try too Live in each moment.
Thank you Jo for your Honesty ♥️
and
commentator Chip AWESOME JOB!
Wow. Thank you for sharing so much. I take away "gratitude will make you move forward" 😊🥰🇵🇭 Philippines
Omg. You two have me in tears. My youngest son just moved away. I know exactly what you mean. I wasn't so strong and honestly still struggling 😪 but seeing him good is helping me🥰
Poignant!
Trailblazer for brutal honesty, which may really help us all with humbling ourselves, relevant to anti bullying and beyond😊
Thanks Jo -
Joanna Gaines' story is not unlike a lot of children's stories who come from immigrant ancestors. Being a military spouse and living on post I met many Korean brides that struggled to fit into American society. And their stories remind me so much of Joanna's mother. Since my husband had lived with a Korean family, he spoke Korean almost fluently so most of the military couples we were friends with, the wife was Korean, and we did everything we could to help her to feel at home and assimilate, while not losing her culture. There's only a generation between myself and my immigrant ancestors who didn't speak English and had to work hard for to achieve the American dream. But all the trials, all the bullying that Joanna faced made her who she is today and look what she's achieved! Not only has she built an empire that will be a legacy to her children, but she is loved by her legions of fans. Congrats JoJo--thanks for showing us the possibilities this life has to offer.
Thanks for such an open heart and an inspiration ! I need this today ❤
That’s so nice of her to tell her story. I really want to read it. I’m so happy for her 😊
I admire this couple and everything they do is wonderful I wish them the best
So sorry we missed you both as we were at the Silo's on Tuesday. We were so impressed with all that you both have done with the area, your lives, and happy with all of your hard earned success. Cheers from Idaho!
Thank you for sharing your heart felt monents. I love that you are still so down to earth even though you are so successful 💕
What a lovely conversation that was! Thank you for sharing it. I can’t wait to read the book.
I did see this posted 3 months ago, but I knew the time for me to watch it then was not suffice. Let the dust clear... so you can see the path in front of you without the obstruction or distractions.👍🏾💯
Wow insight at 22 and another at 44. Interesting time frames, intriguing.
oh I just loved this video! Can't wait to get this book!😀😉 God has blessed Joanna so much.
I cried three different times watching this. My little baby girl is one year old right now, and hearing Jo talk about her little girl driving away for the first time and wondering if she’d done enough hit me like a ton of bricks. Thoughts I’m already having even today 😭
Can't wait to read the book!
I'm loving the book it's a inspiration to value our own story!!!
Okay I'm 75 now and I tell you the tears still come every now and then. Because you're proud of your children that I did raise them up right and the only reason why I raise them up right is all to the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ that gave me the wisdom to do what was right far from a perfect mother but I raised my children up to praise and to give God all the glory and serve him with a whole heart. That's the most important thing knowing our savior the one that died on the cross and shed his blood in Christ we are enough because he he did it for us on the cross.
Thanks for sharing It will help many people.
Where is Joanna's sweater from!? Super cute!

Thanks for sharing your vulnerability it’s so brave and sweet. 💛✨
I shared with my daughter. Thanks so much!
Wow this is amazing! I’m definitely buying this book. Can’t wait to read it.
Being half Korean myself I'm sure we've had similar feelings we went through being different from most of the population but similar to you have learned the appreciation and love i have of all the diverse background I had being multiracial. But I love seeing how you share all these stories b/c people all go through some kind of similar emotion but maybe different circumstances. Relationship/Love is the heart of God and connecting to others in a real way helps many through healing little wounds we have had through growing up in this broken world. I do really hope you share more of your family culture of growing up mixed. And I also hope you dive into the korean food in your shows. I ate a bulgogi Benedict breakfast at a restaurant here in Sarasota, FL and just thought this dish describes me being half korean and thinking this is so unique but was also feeling silly b/c I felt like I was connecting to this piece of dish b/c of the fusion. 😂😄
❤️ God bless your family ❤
Love this!
Dearest friends!🥰🙏🏾💕😘
She is amazing such a beautiful woman and talented 💖!
AWESOME!
Great video. 🥰
❤❤❤
Perfectionism is exhausting, and I wonder how much comes from parental expectations, and how much is self imposed because we don't want anyone to see our flaws or weaknesses. All we can do is try to find a way to let our "best" be enough and teach this to our children.
❤
Makes you wonder how many in the audience were bullies back in elementary school toward kids of a different race and are going, "Ummm...That was me." Maybe?
❤️💙💝❤️💚💖💙❤️💚❤️💝💖
It is interesting when I would first saw Joanna and started watching Fixer Upper I just looked at it and I saw what a lovely vivacious woman and would just watch the interaction of her in the family and the clients and the different things. As her being different because she was Asian was not even a big thing for me. It was all part of who she was a beautiful person. I did absolutely did not focus on Asian.
💞💞💞💞💞
When she was talking about how great it is to gain wisdom but she wanted to be like her 4 year old who could pick up a leave and talk about it for 45 minutes... I think what she was describing was the word wonder. We do tend to lose this ability as we get older.

👏👏👏🇧🇷🌹
💖🙏✨💥
Nice to see them let the guy act normal instead of the incredibly tiresome, Homer-Simpson-Stupid persona he brings to Fixer Upper....
🙏🙏🤍
AAAAAWWWWSOME
Why do so many people love the colour GREY (the colour of death/concrete- it's lifeless & dead) sorry JO ????
Grey Heather clothing beats black for winter!!!
It's also a very calming color.
Same reason stormy days can be so cozy and peaceful
That’s a big whatever!
I know they are hugely popular and successful but he's obnoxious.
How pathetic.
