  • This is the ending scene of "The High Cost of Being Right," a season four Little House on the Prairie episode. The Garveys are in the process of getting a divorce, and then all of this unfolds. Michael Landon does an excellent job (as always) and his hysterical laughter is contagious. It cracked me up...it might make you smile, too.
    Enjoy!!

Michael Landon was an amazing actor who could cry on cue. But to laugh on cue is downright brilliant. He wanted us to laugh and cry as we watched his work and we did. Thank you Michael for wearing your heart on your sleeve, and for having the courage to do so.

Yes, he was a dear friend of Michaels mother or father (I forget) he was practically homeless and they helped him along over the years and he came and had dinner with them. Charles wanted to give him a bigger role, but he was happy with appearances here and there. Charles always made sure he didn't want got nothing after his father died.

I started watching this show 40+yrs after it was made. If people could live like this there would be so much more peace in the world. Seems this world gets more and more evil by the decade. This show does an amazing job of showing how simple but wonderful life can be. We take so much for granted these days. I'm only 30yrs old so I grew up in the days of Nintendo and computers becoming more and more an everyday thing but we still played outside and rode our bikes and used our imagination to play and have fun. Our children live in the times of playing on the computer and having a phone stuck in their hands at all times. If u drive thru the neighborhoods around ur home I bet you can't count even 5 kids riding their bikes or playing outside. And that's cuz of this era we live in of video games, social media, cell phone, computers used as a wrist watch. I have one child, my daughter who just turned 12 and I always said she wouldn't have a cellphone until she was 13yrs old. I would see kids 7yrs with cell phones and anytime she would ask when she could get a cellphone I always said 13. Well when she turned 10yrs old I went against what always said and I got her a cell phone. If it was up to my mother she would've gotten her a cellphone at age 7. My mom pretty much talked me into getting her a cellphone when she turned 10 for her bday. My mom's argument was that when she goes to her father's house on the weekends, or to a friend's house, or when she's at volleyball or dance practice she should have a phone to call in case of an emergency and so we could speak to her if needed. I did fine without a cellphone and I didn't get one until I was 13 and I was the first one out of all of my friends to have a cellphone. These days everyone and their dog has a cellphone. So I got her a cellphone for her 10th bday and my mother says I'm crazy when I say this but I literally could see a change in my daughter's attitude after 3mths of having the phone. She started to be somewhat sassy and would talk back a bit and instead of doing the things she did before she had a cellphone such as making jewelry from beads, painting, arts and crafts etc, she only wanted to be on the cellphone playing games that we're absolutely pointless etc. My mother spoils my daughter and we have always clashed heads about that and still do to this day. And it's worse than most grandmother's spoiling their grandkids cuz my mother and I live together with my daughter. My mom's defense for spilling my daughter rotten and always buying her any and everything she wants is that Grandma's are supposed to spoil their grandkids. She always tells my that when I become a grandmother (better not be until another 20yrs) that I will understand. And I'm very grateful for all my mom's does for myself and for my daughter. She has always been such a huge help from the day my daughter was born and I'm so grateful for that but I tell my mom that I want my daughter to know the value of things and that you just don't get whatever u want. I want her to do choirs and work for extra money if she wants something but that never sticks cuz my mom does the choirs for her and then goes and buys her whatever it is that she wanted. It's a never ending battle as far as my mom and I go when it comes to her buying her everything. It's almost as if my mom can't help herself, no joke. It doesn't matter where they go, to the gas station, to the grocery, they can even go to Home Depot and my daughter always comes home with something. I always tell my daughter how lucky she is but she's never had to do choirs and work for an allowance. I've tried it and my mom does the choirs for her and tells me that my daughter did them. Things like that make me and my mom argue. My mom says I should be grateful and I am but I just want my daughter to know that u don't get everything handed to you on a silver platter. There are times that u have to work hard for things. And im noticing the older she gets the harder it is to teach her this. I wish she could live in the Little House on the Prairie days for a week to see what life was like and what life is still like for some people and kids.

Michael Mills I’ve noticed many times throughout the years how they recycle actors on the show in several different parts, like Alice Garvey, Albert Ingalls, the unnamed guy with the black curly hair and mustache who played just about every unnamed male part imaginable! . . And the list goes on! I figured a lot of them were probably friends and relatives, like Landon’s daughter! 😍💙✝️🇺🇸❣️

LOL...even now i remember most of episodes and it's nearly 20 year's since saw em'. Ad yes that laugh is hillarious xD.
Such a shame that great man as he were had to leave this time and place so early, practicaly growed up with serie.
RIP mike, hopefully ppl show LOTP to kids show might feel's bit childish in teen age but older u realize that it has great moral teatchings to give.

i haven't seen this episode, so when i heard charles laughing in the background i first thought he was laughing offstage. then it cut to him sitting and i was like "whoa! where did he come from!?" *sigh* i love charles his laugh made me start laughing for no apparent reason. I love Little House, it's a classic!

Funny! I was just telling my daughter that in every episode he either laughs or cries, or both! She's got to see this!
